3 Tinkercad is a simple, online 3D design and 3D printing app for everyone. It is used by designers, hobbyists, teachers, and kids, to make toys, prototypes, home decor, minecraft models, and so on. In your browser, go to where you will be greeted with this page: When it is for using in a classroom, it is important to set up a group of accounts. Note also that only individuals age 13 or older may have their own account without parental permission. Either click Start Tinkering now or the SIGN UP button in the top right corner. Both will navigate you here:
Select your country and add your date of birth then click NEXT Enter an address and password as requested and be sure to read the Terms and Privacy Statements and tick the box if you wish to receive newsletters, then click CREATE ACCOUNT Once signed in, you will be guided through a short tutorial. To start a new model click Create New Design. This will take you to a new Workplane.
How it works 1. Shapes Shapes are the basic building blocks of Tinkercad. Any shape can add or remove material, and you can also import or create your own shapes. 2. Grouping By grouping together a set of shapes you can create new models to work with. Build intricate shapes and create extremely detailed models.
1. The title for each document is automatically generated, but can be changed at any time by clicking on the title. 2. "Workplane" is the surface that students will be working on. It is Z=0 in the Cartesian coordinate system. 3. These are tools to create new components and shape them as you want. a. "Workplane" is used to create new planes to build off of, like if you want to add objects directly off of the side of a piece, or if you wanted to make an upside-down "L." b. "Ruler" is used to measure how the length, width, and height of a selected object, as well as how far away it is from a specific point. You can also use this to change the scale, or how large, the model is.
Tools to navigation the workspace The cube is used to view the workspace straight on from specific angles, selected by clicking either faces, edges, or vertices. "Home View" will take you to an angle that is halfway between a top view and a front view. "Fit view to selection" will zoom in or out to the selected objects. "Zoom In" zooms in and "Zoom Out" zooms out. "Switch to orthographic view" is a toggle. Clicking it will change the workspace back and forth from orthographic to perspective. Orthographic gives a view straight view at an object, whereas Perspective will skew the object so it has some depth. "Orthographic" is better utilized if you are trying to get an accurate measure of your objects, and "Perspective" is better for viewing what your finished print will look like.
The modification tools on an object 1. The white squares are for dragging that corner, which will modify the length and width of the box. 2. The black squares will pull only that edge modifying length or width one at a time. 3. The one lone white square in the center of the top face of the cube that changes the height of the box. 4. The various bent arrows rotate the box around the three axes. If you click and drag inside the circle that pops up around the box, the degrees lock to multiple of 22.5 degrees, but if you drag outside the circle, you have free range of any whole number angle. 5. The straight arrow on top of the box is used to pull or push the box away from the work plane. This is helpful if you re trying to stack parts on top of each other, like a cone on top of a cylinder to be the peak of a castle. Just click and drag to the height you want. Tools located on the top right There are a couple more tools that are incredibly useful to making objects more complex than cylinders and boxes, which can be found in the top right. 1. "Show All" will unhide any objects that have previously been hidden.
2. "Group" will take all objects that are selected and make them one. Once objects are grouped, the modification menu will disappear, except for making them "Solid" or a "Hole." 3. Note: Grouping a "Solid" object and a "Hole" will subtract the "Hole" from the "Solid." 4. "Ungroup" will simply do the reverse, ungrouping sets of objects, and one grouping at a time, so the entire set won't be undone all at once. 5. "Align" will align two edges with each other, or two faces, etc. 6. "Flip" will pop up arrows along each axis, simply click on one arrow and it'll flip the model in that direction.
Activity 1 Use geometric figures for designing a 3d house, castle or building. Use group, color and hole tools to build the object. Save the activity with the name activity 1 and the course. You can watch this video as a guide for designing it: VjW-ezglc Activity 2 Use geometric figures for designing a 3d bear and other animals that you want. Use group tool to build the object and necessary tools for designing them. Use the creativity for doing it, the bear is an example. Save the activity with the name activity 2 and the course. You can watch this video as a guide for designing it: B7uLNU
The object modification panel 1. "Solid" means the object is solid, if printed it is a tangible section. 2. "Hole" is the opposite of solid, and where it intersects with another objects it will be taken away from it, even if it's off to the side and not a hole through the center. 3. "Radius" adds a fillet, or rounding over of the edges of the box or object; he larger the number, the deeper the rounding. 4. "Steps" affect how smooth the "Radius" is; the larger the number, the more gradual the curve. 5. For a box, "Length," "Width," and "Height" are displayed and can be precisely modified, but for a triangle, only "Sides" is displayed. Each object has its own set of options. 6. In the top left is a little lock which will "Lock Editing"; once that is clicked there is no moving the object or changing anything about it until the lock is clicked again. 7. The little lightbulb will hide the object completely.
Activity 3 1. Use geometric figures for designing 3d transport media. 2. Use solid and hole tools to build it and necessary tools for designing it. 3. Use the creativity for doing it, you can design that you want. 4. Save the activity with the name activity 3 and the course. some links: Tools located on the top left 1. "Copy" will take all the objects you have selected and copy them to your clipboard. 2. "Paste" will take the objects in your clipboard, and place them slightly to the right from where they were originally copied, or slightly to the right of the object selected. 3. "Duplicate" will copy and paste the selected object in the same object. 4. "Delete" will remove the selected object or objects from the workspace. 5. "Undo" will work exactly like any other program, and undo the last action you did. 6. "Redo" will also work exactly like other programs and will take you forward one action.
Activity 4 Activity 5 Use geometric figures for designing 3d characters. Use group, ungroup, solid, hole to build your favorite characters and use necessary tools for designing it. Save the activity with the name activity 4 and the course. Design a product you can offer to the people. The picture is an example but you must create your own. Use all necessary tools for designing it. Save the activity with the name activity 5 and the course.
Some ideas Practice the vocabulary seen during the term and get as many positive points as you can. For doing this activity click on the picture or search it in the glossary activity in web page activitieskids.jimdo.com/fifth-grade. To identify the three-dimensional objects for designing 3D objects. To identify the process to get and to administer an account at the moment of using an application online. To use the geometric figures as base to create and to design 3D objects. To design simple objects using the workplane, tools and its views. To save the activities in the personal folder. To show ordering and discipline as class as in the line for going to the lab.
