2 EliteCAD ME V13 R2 update information February 2016 This update of EliteCAD ME contains numerous improvements and optimizations which have been realized according to customer feedback. This documents contains the description of additional innovations and useful features which are provided as functional enhancements in the update R2. 3 Point clouds Point clouds which are obtained via laser scans represent a significant foundation for the survey. The new import of point clouds allows EliteCAD to import various kinds of data sources in a flexible manner. Every ASCII-file which lists the XYZ-coordinates of the points in columns can be read with this new interface. As an option, the adoption of RGB colour information is also supported. In practice, there are often enormous amounts of data with millions of points that are at the expense of performance during the processing and frequently not even necessary in this level of detail. For this reason, EliteCAD offers the possibility to reduce the number of acquired points via a controllable filter. With their colour values, the imported points ensure a high graphical accuracy when dense enough. In addition, the geometric information in EliteCAD is available - the coordinates of each point can be used for further processing. Each point can be selected individually and thus forms a basis for the definition of new objects. The possibility to measure distances is a matter of course. 4 Intelligent hatching in section views In section views for cut objects usually a simple line hatch with 45 degree line angle is used. If there are different parts touching each other the standard declares that different hatches should be applied. In general this is achieved by a different line angle as well as a different line distance. Up to version 13 it was only possible to manually define the hatches for each part. With the update V13 R2 a new algorithm was integrated for the calculation of section views, which analyses the position of touching contours and automatically selects the required hatch. Views are now correct with a single click and time effort for manual corrections is not necessary anymore. Interfaces Export using SketchUp SketchUp is a widely used format for 3D models. With the import of SketchUp data, the version 13 of EliteCAD ME opened the way into the world of the 3D warehouse. The current version 13 R2 now completes the SketchUp interface by the possibility to export EliteCAD models. Since a variety of products allow the loading of SketchUp files in the meantime, a new possibility to use EliteCAD data in other 3D programs is available on this basis. The export includes the entire geometry of 3D surfaces and solids with the associated textures. All textures are embedded in the generated *.skp file and can be passed on as a single file. SketchUp is a trademark of Trimble Navigation Limited DXF/DWG DWG data up to version AutoCAD 2016 can be read using the updated DWG converter. Polylines with variable line width are now imported. The import process generates fill hatches with appropriate contour. PDF3D / U3D Export with drawing structure During the export of a 3D model into a PDF 3D file it now can be selected if either layer, classification or assemblies should be exported. With this additional information it is possible to set the visibility of the exported drawing structure in the PDF viewer. Messerli Informatik GmbH EliteCAD ME V13 R2 update information 4

5 Usability Improved feedback by means of a progress indicator Complexity and amount of data repeatedly lead to waiting times during various types of calculations and operations. This is understandable, but inconvenient for the user if he does not obtain any feedback as to whether the program is still active or how long the process will still take. In the new version, special attention was therefore paid to giving the user an appropriate feedback if known processes could take longer. The progress indicator permanently supplies program feedback as to whether the process is still working and how long the process will approximately still take. Possibility to cancel processes Waiting for the termination of processes which have been taking a long time in order to restart them with new parameters is a waste of time. Many processes can therefore now be cancelled prematurely by ESC (e.g. property bars, animating the camera, vector shadow, creating a pattern hatch). Improved mouse cursor The mouse cursor changes its representation during various operations. The graphically enhanced mouse cursor is now visually more appealing and clearly stands out from the background due to an improved contrast. Long file names in the title bar Long paths and file names have so far been abbreviated in the display in the title bar. With EliteCAD V13 R2 the file name is displayed at full length in the title line. Thus, the full information is available in any case. Reset chain dimension The property bar of a chain dimension has been extended by a function to reset the chain dimension. This function sets the chain dimension back to its original state that means i.e. dislocated dimension texts are moved back to their original position. 6 Extensions of functionalities Cut labelling and arrows can be changed The cut definition line includes the labelling of the corners and the symbols for the arrows. The modification of these components has been automated and significantly simplified with the new version. The path for the symbol can be re-selected via the parameter button in the property bar along the cutting line; the loading and replacing of the arrow symbol take place automatically. Just as easily, the labelling in the parameter window of the cutting line can be changed and the graph be updated. Cut labelling using digits In addition to the existing comfortable mechanisms for labelling sectional views with letters, a number can optionally be used in version This creates new possibilities for cut labelling such as "A1-A1", "B2-B2" or "Z1- Z3". Alternatively, the letter can also be omitted so that the name consists only of digits, i.e. "1-1", "2-2" or "1-3" etc. Manipulation bar for positioning the title block The drawing header is positioned through specifying a target point. Here, the stored reference point of the header is used and placed on the selected point. If the reference point is not suitable, the same can now be changed directly during the placement, making the steps which were so far required to manually move the title block subsequently to the target position unnecessary. During the placing process the manipulating bar (just like when copying / moving objects) appears for the header. Shortcut for the real-time shadow Basically, the shadow can be switched on and off via the view parameters. Many parameters can also be controlled via shortcuts. For the shadow, the key combination Ctrl + Shift + S was introduced in order to allow rapid switching between a representation with or without shadow. 7 Tractrix curve New version With EliteCAD ME V13 R2, our partner GEO DIGITAL GmbH also provides a new version of the add-on module tractrix. With this update, the add-on module is also available in other languages, and the manual has been revised.
