2 COMPONENTS LASERDATA LIS is a software suite for LiDAR data (TLS / MLS / ALS) management and analysis. The software is built on top of a GIS and supports both point and raster data. The following software components can be used in any combination: LIS SERVER a database solution for data management, LIS GUI a desktop client with graphical user interface, LIS MOD module libraries for point and raster processing and LIS WEB a web interface for browserbased data access. LASERDATA LIS is available in several versions, which combine different characteristics of these components: the single-user solution LIS DESKTOP, the multiuser network solution LIS WORKSTATION, the web solution LIS DISTRI- BUTION and the all-in solution LIS PROFESSIONAL (see flyer LIS VERSIONS ). LIS SERVER uses the free open-source software PostgreSQL / POSTGIS and Tomcat as database and server solution. The flexible data model supports project-based, multitemporal and seamless data storage as well as access of point and raster data. The storage concepts TILING and LAY- ERING allow for fast data access even if the data is structured quite heterogeneously (e.g. flight strips or classified and tiled data). Data queries are target-oriented by passing an area of interest (AOI), by choosing the list of attributes to be exported and/or by defining a search condition (e.g. to a certain return number, an intensity range or a point class). LIS GUI is a desktop client with a graphical user interface which allows easy operation of LASERDATA LIS. LIS GUI is based on the free open-source software SAGA GIS. The GUI provides easy access to processing libraries and numerous possibilities to visualize data: 2D map views of vector and raster data, 3D viewer, charts, scatterplots and tables. Additionally, the desktop client includes a command line application to automize LASERDATA LIS by scripting (batch, bash, python...). LIS MOD is a compilation of software modules for LiDAR data management and processing. These modules implement the processing functionality of LASERDATA LIS and extent LIS GUI. The basic package of LIS MOD provides functionality like data management (e.g. project management), data import (e.g. LAS, ASCII, various raster formats), data export (e.g. retrieval of point clouds and raster subsets, point to raster conversion), query and visualization of cross sections, point cloud filtering (classification and generation of digital terrain models) and thinning of point clouds. LIS WEB makes it possible to use LASERDATA LIS with an internet browser. The web interface includes a map viewer for navigation and, if desired, interactive selection of an area of interest (AOI). Depending on the intended use, several LIS modules can be enabled and individually customized. The web interface includes user administration tools, which allow companies to efficiently distribute data to internal or external users.
