3 The Visual Enterprise Version 9 strategy is to simplify authoring by using a single file format for creation, update, delivery, and consumption VDS. 3 / 17

4 Overview SAP 3D Visual Enterprise Author 9.0 s default layout is configured for Omni-channel authoring Standard (VDS). All authoring features work the same on all platforms and viewers. To enable existing users to stay completely in the RH file format, there is an additional layout: Legacy (RH). This layout has all the features and tools as in SAP 3D Visual Enterprise Author 8.0, and is based on RH persistence. 4 / 17

5 Standard (VDS) Layout The VDS Layout is the default layout for SAP 3D Visual Enterprise Author moving forward. This layout provides new and existing tools and features, which are fully compatible with all Visual Enterprise viewers. The File Save default format is VDS, and the Auto-save feature only saves to VDS. The RH format is available for import and export. Exclusive Features File Add Content command The Add Content command adds content from an external file to the currently open file. 5 / 17

6 File Replace Selection command The Replace Selection command replaces selected content in the opened file with new content from an external file. File Update from File command The Update from File command updates the content of the opened file with matching content from an external file. 6 / 17

7 Review Changes Window The Review Changes window displays the results of the Update command and provides tools to reconcile the affected authoring. Object Properties Identifiers Tab Each component has its own set of Persistent Identifiers. These are read from CAD files or generated for user created content. 7 / 17

8 Legacy (RH) Layout The purpose of the Legacy layout is to support all traditional RH based workflows. All tools and features are enabled. The File Save format is RH, and the Autosave feature only saves to RH. The VDS format is available for import and export.
