After installation, the update can be verified by running RapidWorks and checking the version by going to Help > About.

II. Enhanced Features 1. User Interface (1) Changed option names within Hardware tab in Preferences The names of the Video RAM As Extended Memory and Use Shader Programs For Enhanced Rendering option within the Hardware tab in the Preferences (File > Preferences) have been changed to Use Video RAM For Rendering Acceleration and Use Shader Programs For Rendering Acceleration so that users can easily understand how these options will be utilized. Previous Version New Version (2) Support distance measuring in ICF Viewer The ICF Viewer has been enhanced to allow distance measuring. When necessary, point-to-point distances can be measured using the Measure Distance command in the pop-up menu.

(3) Added a new property and button for exporting a transformation matrix A new property and button named Matrix and Export for exporting a transformation matrix have been added in the properties panel for meshes and point clouds. A transformation matrix can now be exported in the.trm file format and used for other applications. The exported transformation matrix can also be used with other scan data files that have been scanned in the same position or to model bodies into desired positions easily.

(4) Enhanced selection for error features When selecting an error feature in the Feature Tree, the feature is now highlighted in the Error List as well. It is useful for recognizing what errors the selected feature has. 2. Display (1) Enhanced mesh rendering performance Mesh rendering performance has been highly enhanced so that users can easily handle large mesh data files in the default mode as well as in the Mesh mode.

Enhanced VBO option The VBO (Vertex Buffer Object) option is now available for mesh rendering in both AMD and NVIDIA graphic cards. VBO is a functionality that uploads data into video memory so that the data resides in the video memory rather than the system memory for direct rendering from graphic cards. It can be used by enabling the Use Video RAM For Rendering Acceleration option within the OpenGL Renderer Setup section in the Hardware tab of the Preferences. When this option is enabled, mesh data can be rendered without a decline or interruption in display performance, even if the Dynamic Drawing option is disabled or multiple viewports are used in a command or mode. Additionally, the display performance can be enhanced by using the VBO setting when regions and their boundary lines are rendered. The following image shows the difference in frame rates when enabling and disabling the Use Video RAM For Rendering Acceleration option. 11 Million Mesh Model Rendering (Dynamic Drawing option is OFF) Disabling Option (1.45 frame per second) Enabling Option (59.56 frame per second)

Reduced data consumption of Video RAM The data processing algorithm for Video RAM has been highly enhanced. When handling meshes with ten million poly-faces or more, approx. 800MB of video memory is usually required. Because of this reason, graphic cards with 1GB or more of Video RAM were recommended to use for handling large mesh data files in the application. Use of the Smooth Face option in the Shading Method option found within the Mesh/Point Cloud section in the Display panel tab was recommended as another way for reducing the amount of data transferred to Video RAM. Now, data consumption of Video RAM has been reduced by more than half by using the enhanced data processing algorithm, even if the Flat Face option is used as the Shading Method. This is available when using graphic card that support OpenGL 3.2 and higher. Enhanced data management in Video RAM The data management rule in Video RAM has been enhanced so that the application can work without problems, even if another graphic program occupies data memory in Video RAM. (2) Enhanced point cloud rendering performance Shader programs can now be used to increase point cloud rendering performance even if users are using an Intel graphics card. This is available by switching the Use Shader Programs For Rendering Acceleration option to True within the OpenGL Renderer Setup section in the Hardware tab of the Preferences. Note: Use of the shader programs is only available when using a graphic card that supports OpenGL 2.0 or higher.

(3) Changed a display rule for the boundary values of color ranges in the Color Bar A display rule for the boundary values of color ranges in the Color Bar has been changed so that the boundary values are divided by a certain range of units. For example, when checking the deviation between a modeled body and scan data with +/- 1mm as the maximum and minimum values, then +/- 0.2, 0.6, and 0.8 will be displayed as the boundary values of color ranges. Previous Version New Version (4) Enhanced entity display performance The display performance for created entities has been highly enhanced and optimized by removing unnecessary re-calculations. Entities such as Ref.Geometries and sketches needed for a modeling process can now be created much faster than in the previous versions of the application, even if working with models in large CAD files. Additionally, when using multiple curves in one 3D Sketch feature, the curves can be handled without a decline in performance. (5) Enhanced point shaders The point shaders used for point cloud rendering have been enhanced so that they use hardware shaders for better rendering performance even if view clipping occurs. A point cloud can now be displayed without a decline in performance when view clipping occurs.

3. LiveTransfer (1) Enhanced LiveTransfer for supporting newest versions of CAD LiveTransfer has been enhanced to support the updated versions of CAD software. The following table shows supported CAD versions in LiveTransfer : LiveTransfer to Version Supported Website SolidWorks Siemens NX Creo(Pro/E) AutoCAD Inventor SolidWorks 2006 to SolidWorks 2013 Siemens NX4 to Siemens NX 8 Pro/E Wildfire 3.0 to Pro/E Wildfire 5.0, Creo Elements/Pro 5.0 Creo Parametric 1.0 to 2.0 AutoCAD 2007 to AutoCAD 2011 Inventor 2010 to Inventor autodesk.com/autodesk-inventor/ (2) Enhanced feature transfer LiveTransfer has been enhanced so that a revolved feature created by the intersection line of two Ref.Planes as a revolution axis can now be transferred into CAD programs, except AutoCAD. Note: When transferring a non-compatible revolved feature into AutoCAD, an error mark will be attached to the feature and a description of the error will be displayed in the Error List. Additionally, the Variable Fillet features can now be transferred into Pro/E Wildfire versions 3.0 or newer. This is available while the Tangent Propagation option is set to Off.

(3) Enhanced LiveTransfer(TM) To Creo(Pro/E) The transferring accuracy of the LiveTransfer(TM) To Creo(Pro/E) command has been enhanced so that sketch entities can be transferred to exact positions while maintaining their geometric shapes in Creo(Pro/E). 4. Scan Tools (1) Enhanced mesh construction The algorithm for mesh construction has been enhanced to not only improve the quality of results but also the speed of calculations. When generating a mesh by using the Mesh Construction method in the Triangulate, Merge, and Mesh Buildup commands, the mesh can now be generated without losing effective data. Previous Version New Version A mesh can also be generated without abnormal poly-faces even if it is generated from point clouds that have no normal information. Previous Version New Version

(2) Enhanced multi-threading ability for 2D triangulation The multi-threading ability for 2d triangulation has been enhanced so that three or more threads can be used when triangulating mesh from point clouds when using the 2D triangulate method. A mesh can now be created from point clouds much faster than before. 5. Ref.Geometry (1) Enhanced entity selection in the Add Ref.Vector and Add Ref.Plane commands Entity selection in the Add Ref.Vector and Add Ref.Plane commands has been enhanced. When creating a Ref.Vector in the Add Ref.Vector command using the Find Cylinder Axis, Find Cone Axis, or Revolving Axis method or when creating a Ref.Plane in the Add Ref.Plane command using the Extract method, existing intersected Ref.Planes can now be selected for setting the custom axis direction and for constraining the axis of a created Ref.Vector or Ref.Plane. When selecting two intersected Ref.Planes, the Intersected line between them will be used as a custom direction. 6. Sketch (1) Enhanced entity selection rules for Smart Dimension The entity selection rules for Smart Dimension have been enhanced so that it does not allow the selection of splines. This is done to prevent entity selection errors. When adding dimensions onto splines, node points laid on the splines

can now only be selected. Node Point 7. Surface / Solid (1) Enhanced the Quick Modeling process for a better user experience The Quick Modeling process has been enhanced for a better user experience. Enhanced Region Detection for Revolved Features The region detection algorithm for revolved features has been enhanced so that target regions for finding a revolution axis can be correctly detected and used when a revolved feature is created. Additionally, the selection ratio for regions that cause sketch intersection problems with other adjacent regions has been reduced. Regions Classified by Geometry Type Previous Version New Version Enhanced automatic entity selection for a revolution axis and sketch base plane The automatic entity selection for a revolution axis and sketch base plane has been highly enhanced.

The entity detection criteria has been expanded so that existing Ref.Vectors and body edges as well as existing Ref.Planes, body faces, sketches, sketch chains, and sketch curves can be detected as reference entities. Even if a Ref.Plane is far from the model, it can now be used as a sketch base plane if the detection criteria is satisfied. Additionally, the revolution axis can be defined automatically or by manually selecting two intersected Ref.Planes. Note: Entities can be automatically selected when initializing the Revolution Wizard command by using the Quick Modeling menus (Insert/Merge and Cut ) or clicking the Estimate button next to the Custom Revolution Axis button. Adding Fillets The algorithm for fillet area detection has been enhanced. Now fillets can be accurately applied to features by analyzing the area and boundary lengths of target regions when creating revolved features using the Revolution Wizard. Automatically hidden Ref.Planes Visibility of entities has been enhanced so that a Ref.Plane created by the Extrusion Wizard or the Revolution Wizard is automatically hidden after the features are created. (2) Enhanced Revolution Wizard The automatic Ref.Vector creation method in the Revolution Wizard has been enhanced so that a Ref.Vector that will be used as a revolution axis will be automatically created by the Revolving Axis method, and not the Definition method. The Ref.Vector, therefore, can now be automatically updated according to changes of its parent entities. Additionally, the size of the Ref.Vector can be dynamically displayed when the model view is zoomed in and out.

(3) Enhanced Extrusion Wizard The Extrusion Wizard has been enhanced so that it allows the selection of Ref. Planes as target entities for defining top and bottom sides of feature. Additionally, the calculation speed for updating preview features has been enhanced. When adjusting an extrusion length in the 2nd stage of the Extrusion Wizard, the preview results will be updated much faster than in previous versions of the application. (4) Enhanced Auto Surfacing results Previously, when applying the Auto Surfacing command to a complex mesh shape, the maximum number of generated surface patches was limited to prevent lack of memory issues. The limitation has been removed for the 64bit version of RapidWorks. Surface patches can now be generated on a complex shape without loss. (5) Enhanced Extrude and Revolve Commands Creating a revolved feature by defining a revolution axis with two intersected Ref.Planes When created a revolved feature, two existing intersected Ref.Planes can now be selected for defining a revolution axis. An intersected line of the selected Ref.Planes can be used as the revolution axis of a created feature. However, if a base sketch has been constructed with a construction line as a revolution axis, the construction line will be selected as a revolution axis with higher priority.

Existing Ref.Planes Reuse a previously used sketch entity for creating multiple features After a sketch entity is used for creating a solid or a surface feature, it is set to hide after the body is created. To reuse a sketch entity and its profiles, it needs to be set to show. When creating another feature, a hidden sketch entity can now be reused as a target entity by selecting specific lines, all profiles (Ctrl + A) or dragging over them regardless of visibility. Note: This operation is available when creating an extruded feature or a revolved feature using the Extrude or Revolve commands. Enhanced creation speed for extruded features When creating extruded features using the Up To Region method with Min./Mean./Max. Distance Position sub-methods, the creation speed of the features has now been highly enhanced. The results can now be created much faster than in previous versions of the application. 8. Measure (1) Enhanced Section and Mesh Deviation measurements The Section and Mesh Deviations commands in the Measure menu have been enhanced so that these commands can be used in the Mesh mode. Various measurement results can be created on the section of a mesh and the deviation between meshes can be measured in the Mesh mode without leaving the mode.

Note: The Mesh Deviations command can be applied to mesh in the Mesh mode when previously created meshes exist in the feature tree. (2) Measurement of linear distances between non-parallel entities enabled The Distance command has been enhanced so that linear distances can now be measured between entities even if the entities are not parallel each other. Axis - Plane Distance A plane is the standard for this measurement. A distance will be measured by projecting onto the plane perpendicularly from the middle point of the axis. Plane - Plane Distance A first plane is the standard for this measurement. A distance will be measured by projecting onto the first plane from the center point of the second plane along the normal direction of the first plane. Note: To measure the linear distance between non-parallel entities, the linear option should be specified as Plane Vector, 2 Vectors, or 2 Planes.
