What's Included in This File About Symantec Encryption Desktop Changes in this release Installing this Maintenance Pack Technical Support Copyright and Trademarks About PGP Desktop PGP Desktop provides your enterprise with secure messaging by transparently protecting your messages without user interaction. It automatically creates and maintains a Self- Managing Security Architecture (SMSA) by monitoring authenticated users and their traffic. You can also send protected messages to addresses that are not part of the SMSA. The PGP Desktop encrypts, decrypts, signs, verifies messages, and provides strong security through policies you control. PGP Universal Satellite provides security for messages up to the user's computer, allows external users to become part of the SMSA, and provides end users the option to create and manage their keys on their computers. PGP Desktop is a security tool that uses cryptography to protect your data against unauthorized access.

2 Changes in This Release This section lists the changes in this release of PGP Desktop. What's Changed in This Maintenance Pack What's Changed in PGP Desktop for Windows MP5 PGP Netshare Users logging on to Windows using a smart card containing an X.509 certificate can now select one or more keys for encryption, rather than having all the keys on the token selected. [ ] Users can now remove or decrypt/re-encrypt a PST Microsoft Outlook file in a PGP NetShare folder, even if that file has been modified in Outlook. (Modified PST files encrypted previous to this release must be decrypted with the PGP Command Line using the --force switch.) [ ] Resolved the issue where a user key created on an Aladdin etoken PRO smart card could not be used to encrypt a PGP NetShare folder, resulting in an unknown-key error and not giving the user the correct administrative role. [ ] Users can now open a Microsoft Excel file in a PGP NetShare folder in read-only mode, even if the file is already open by other PGP NetShare users. [ ] PGP Desktop Resolved an issue in the LDAP enrollment customization feature so that a custom string now displays properly at the enrollment prompt. [ ] Resolved an issue where enrollment timed out when the system was connected to a VPN unless the PGP Tray service was manually restarted. [ ] PGP Whole Disk Encryption

3 Resolved an issue so that the PGP Whole Disk Encryption Assistant window does not appear while upgrading from PGP Desktop to PGP Desktop 10.2.x when Deny Single Sign On is set in the Consumer policy. [ ] Resolved an issue that prevented a user from accessing the second hard drive after encryption. [ ] Resolved the issue so that Microsoft Windows XP users can encrypt individual partitions using PGP Whole Disk Encryption with embedded policy. [ ] Resolved an issue so that users no longer see an error message at PGP BootGuard when Microsoft Windows 7 computers with PGP Whole Disk Encryption installed are recovered from sleep or standby. Before encrypting or decrypting, select Power Failure Safety from Encryption Options. [ ] Resolved an issue so that HP Compaq 510 Notebooks with two partitions reboot properly after the manual encryption of the partitions with PGP Whole Disk Encryption. [ ] Resolved an issue so that you can resume stopped or paused encryption or decryption on a managed PGP Whole Disk Encryption installation. Computers can also be successfully decrypted after being partially encrypted and then rebooted using the PGP Desktop Recovery CD. Before encrypting or decrypting, select Power Failure Safety from Encryption Options. [ ] Devices having PGP Whole Disk Encryption installed along with McAfee Host Intrusion Prevention 7 or 8 no longer show any issues when Single Sign-On is used. [ ] Resolved an issue where automatic disk encryption failed after the installation of the PGP Whole Disk Encryption with embedded policy. [ ] Resolved an issue so that an Administrator from the WDE-Admin Group can add a PGP Whole Disk Encryption boot bypass on Microsoft Windows XP computers. [ ] Resolved an issue with PGP Whole Disk Encryption so that a user can access data from an encrypted USB device. [ ] Resolved the issue so that inserted removable devices are write-protected if the user fails to select an option from the encryption dialog box within 120 seconds or when PGP Universal Server is not reachable. [ ] The Force maximum CPU usage consumer policy setting is now correctly enabled. [ ] Messaging

4 Resolved issue where PGP Desktop for Windows would sometimes incorrectly block traffic when the IMAP, SMTP or POP mail proxy had been disabled or had been configured to pass data through unmodified. [ ] Resolved the issue where the Recall This Message option in Microsoft Outlook 2010 became greyed out for standard messages after PGP Desktop was installed. [ ] Resolved issue where PGP Desktop would sometimes fail to prompt Lotus Notes users to insert their smartcard when attempting to decrypt . [ ] Installing this Maintenance Pack To install PGP Desktop on your Windows system Note: You must have administrative rights on your system in order to install PGP Desktop. 1. Locate the PGP Desktop installer application and double-click it. 2. Follow the on-screen instructions. 3. If prompted to do so, restart your system.
