4 Windows 7 Important: The Windows 7 computer that you want to use for BCPro Workstation or BCPro UI software must have had the operating system installed on a cleanly formatted hard disk. Do not use a computer that was upgraded from a previous version of Windows (for example, upgraded to Windows 7 from Windows XP). The Windows upgrade process can leave behind files and registry settings that may adversely affect the installation of BCPro Workstation or BCPro UI system software. To verify correct settings, make sure a folder called WINDOWS.OLD does not exist on the hard disk. If the WINDOWS.OLD folder is present, reinstall Windows 7 from the media, making sure the hard disk is formatted prior to operating system installation. Verify all necessary software drivers are available before the hard disk is reimaged. For BCPro Workstation or BCPro UI software, we currently support Windows 7 with SP1 (64-bit), in any of these editions: Professional, Enterprise, or Ultimate. Other Windows 7 editions are not supported. The section that follows explains how to install, verify, and configure the Windows 7 components that the BCPro Workstation or BCPro UI software requires. 32 BCPro Software If you have a version of BCPro software already installed, you must uninstall it before you install the newest version. If you are installing the BCPro software for the first time, please note the following: When you install BCPro software, desktop shortcuts for the BCPro UI are created. The BCPro software requires at least 800 MB of available hard disk space. The computer on which BCPro system software is installed requires the most recent Daylight Saving Time (DST) update from the Microsoft Corporation. If SQL Server is already installed, the BCPro software installation requires a user account with administrator access to SQL Server software to create and manage BCPro databases and SQL Server user accounts used during runtime of the BCPro. After the BCPro databases and SQL user accounts are created, the account with administrator access to SQL Server is no longer used. You may remove SQL Server software database Administrator rights from this user if directed to do so by the IT department. The BCPro software uses the SQL user accounts that were created by the BCPro installation program. If the IT department requests information about managing these new SQL user accounts, contact the Johnson Controls Field Support Center. When installing the SQL Server software, make sure that the Collation tab lists SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS. BCPro requires this SQL Collation. The Ethernet Network Interface Card (NIC) must have a valid connection status for the installation to complete successfully. Connect your Ethernet NIC to the powered up Ethernet hub or to a live Ethernet network. Do not install other software applications on the BCPro computer because they may interfere with BCPro operation. If SQL Server is already installed, then SQL Server software must be running and be network accessible before you attempt to install the BCPro software. To verify that SQL Server software is running, use SQL Server Configuration Manager. We strongly recommend that you shut down anti-virus software before installing BCPro software. Work with the IT department to determine if the computer is running anti-virus software and, if applicable, how to stop it. Be sure to restart anti-virus software after BCPro software installation is complete. The default password is intended for temporary use only. Change the password to a valid, complex password after you successfully install the BCPro Workstation software. For more details regarding the BCProSysAgent default password, contact your local Johnson Controls representative. Installing the BCPro Software 1. Click Accept and Install to install.net framework. The following screen appears only if.net framework is not already installed on the machine. Figure 37:.NET Framework Installation Acceptance 32

We recommend you choose a complex password that contains eight or more letters, numbers, and symbols that cannot be guessed easily. Click OK. Verify that the user interface appears. After you install Launcher, use the Launcher, not the web browser, to access the BCPro Workstation. If you use the web browser, the Launcher Download screen appears again. Do not reinstall the Launcher. 40

Note: We recommend that you disable popup blocking on your browser, especially if you are using Google Chrome. 41

42 Appendix: Installing Antivirus Software Follow the steps in this appendix for installing antivirus software on computers that run BCPro software. We recommend one of the following antivirus software programs: Symantec Endpoint Protection software Corporate Edition version 12.0 or later McAfee VirusScan Enterprise version 8.8 with Patch 3 or Patch 5 (Patch 4 is not compatible) Note: Windows Defender, provided by some Microsoft operating systems, is not supported on a computer that is running BCPro software. Make sure you turn off Windows Defender before bringing the system online. Installing and Configuring Symantec Endpoint Protection Software Symantec Endpoint Protection software at version 12.0 is permitted on computers that run BCPro and BCPro UI software. Select only the anti-virus and anti-spyware features. The other two features, Proactive Threat Protection and Network Threat Protection, can interfere with communication between BCPro software and supervisory devices.
