Introduction This document describes the procedures for installing the hardware and software for the Nortel Media Application Server platform. Prerequisites For detailed information about the topics covered in this document, see Media Application Server 5.1 Fundamentals (NN ). Navigation MAS preinstallation (page 6) MAS 5.1 installation (page 14) Remote Console installation (page 20) Antivirus software installation (page 26) Common procedures (page 32)

MAS preinstallation This module explains the tasks you must perform before you install the MAS platform. MAS preinstallation task flow Use the following task flow to help you perform the MAS preinstallation tasks.

- 7 - MAS preinstallation MAS preinstallation task flow Start MAS preinstallation task flow Planning the network configuration (page 8) Verifying the MAS package contents. (page 10) Connecting the server to the network (page 11) Setting up network connectivity (page 12) End MAS preinstallation workflow Navigation Planning the network configuration (page 8) Verifying the MAS package contents. (page 10) Connecting the server to the network (page 11) Setting up network connectivity (page 12)

- 8 - MAS preinstallation Planning the network configuration The MAS platform is designed to scale from small, single server solution to a large multiserver cluster. The system exploits a multiprocess, multithreaded architecture designed to take advantage of multiple processor (and multiprocessor core) hardware platforms. The server achieves scalability across multiple machines by either replicating the entire system or by replicating key components of the system. The MAS 5.1 platform supports a system replicated N+1 scaling mode (where N is a maximum of seven nodes, for high availability and redundancy). Network requirements for the system replicated N+1 scaling mode are as follows: A single SIP route can translate to multiple nodes. Therefore, the SIP proxy may need to support load balancing across multiple nodes. Services that use tokens for grouping calls (such as conferencing) may require that the SIP proxy route associated calls to the same node. You may require health checks or time-outs to avoid failed calls if a route is stale on the SIP proxy. The MAS requires Gigabit Ethernet (GIGE) or 100 MB full duplex network connectivity. Quality of Service (QoS) policies on the switch connecting directly to the server must trust the server to allow Differentiated Services Control Point (DSCP) markings to flow through the switch. Use the following procedure to help you configure your cluster. Procedure steps Step Action 1 Complete the following worksheet. Server Server name IP address Proxy type Proxy IP address MAS 1 MAS 2 MAS 3 MAS 4 MAS 5 MAS 6 (1 of 2)

- 9 - MAS preinstallation Server Server name IP address Proxy type Proxy IP address MAS 7 MAS 8 (2 of 2) --End--

MAS preinstallation Verifying the MAS package contents. Verify your MAS package contents before you begin the MAS installation. Procedure steps Step Action 1 Verify that your package contains the following items: application-relevant hardware with Windows Server 2003 preinstalled (check the appropriate application documentation to see what hardware you require) MAS software CD MAS documentation CD MAS Windows Server 2003 DVD --End--

MAS preinstallation Connecting the server to the network The MAS requires Gigabit Ethernet (GIGE) or 100 MB full duplex network connectivity. By default, the MAS is factory set to autonegotiate. The connecting Ethernet switch must also be configured to autonegotiate or significant packet losses occur. If the interfaces must be manually forced, both the MAS and the connecting Ethernet switch must be forced to 100 MB full duplex. To achieve this, configure both the switch and the interface to 100 MB full duplex. If only one side (the switch or interface) is configured to autonegotiate and the other configured to 100 MB full duplex, a duplex mismatch occurs and the interface is forced to operate at half duplex. Connect the MAS only to Ethernet switches. Do not use hubs because they operate at half duplex. Do not deploy the MAS in a half duplex network. To increase reliability, both Ethernet interfaces of a server are used for connection to two separate switches. Furthermore, depending upon the services offered, additional servers can be added to achieve a higher degree of service availability. Prerequisites You completed the worksheet in Planning the network configuration (page 8). You installed the MAS hardware. For more information, see your manufacturer-specific hardware documentation. Procedure steps Step Action 1 Plug in the Ethernet cables (primary and secondary). 2 Test your network connection. 3 Check the physical connection to the router or switch. 4 Verify that the network interface cards (NIC) are properly connected by checking duplexity in the Broadcom Advanced Control Suite. --End--

MAS preinstallation Setting up network connectivity After you power on the server, you must change the host name, IP address, netmask and gateway. Perform the steps in the following procedure to change these parameters. While there are two physical Ethernet links, only one static IP address is required. The Ethernet links are configured for redundancy. This single IP address is used for signaling, media, and OAMP. In addition, IP addressing should be static. Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) for Media Application Server services is not recommended by Nortel. Prerequisites You completed the worksheet in Planning the network configuration (page 8). You connected the server to the network. Procedure steps Step Action 1 On the MAS, click Start > Control Panel > System. 2 On the System Properties dialog box, click the Computer Name tab. 3 Click Change. 4 On the Computer Name Changes dialog box, in the Computer name box, type a new name for the computer. 5 Click OK. 26 Antivirus software installation The MAS 5.1 platform supports the use of Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition This module describes the procedures for installing and configuring antivirus for the MAS platform. For information about updating your antivirus definitions, see Media Application Server 5.1 Administration and Security (NN ). Prerequisites Nortel does not supply the antivirus software. You must obtain the antivirus software from Symantec ( Attention: Do not install any third-party software on the MAS unless that software is documented in one of the MAS guides or in the appropriate application guide. Navigation Installing the antivirus software (page 27) Commissioning the antivirus software for MAS 5.1 (page 30)

Antivirus software installation Installing the antivirus software Install antivirus on the MAS to protect your server from viruses. Nortel supports Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition only. Attention: The following procedure assumes that you are installing from the original Symantec Antivirus product CD. Your IT department may, instead, provide a preconfigured, locked installation package. You can use such a package, however Nortel recommends that you configure the antivirus software on the MAS to conform as closely as possible to the guidelines in Commissioning the antivirus software for MAS 5.1 (page 30). Do not use a locked version earlier than as it can prevent disabling Auto- Protect to launch support tools. Generally, the use of an unlocked package on MAS is preferred. Prerequisites Uninstall any existing antivirus software on the server. Nortel recommends that you use a fully patched and antivirus-protected PC to download the latest antivirus software, virus definitions, and any needed security patches for Norton AntiVirus. Burn the files onto a CD so that you can load the virus definitions onto the MAS server without using the network. Ensure that enough free disk space exists on the system drive (C: drive). Attention: Symantec AntiVirus needs approximately 80 MB of free space during installation. If enough space is not available for temporary files during the installation process, the installation can fail. Procedure steps Step Action 1 Insert the Symantec Antivirus CD-ROM into the drive. 2 From Windows Explorer, navigate to the CD-ROM drive and double-click setup.exe. 3 On the Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition setup window, click Install Symantec AntiVirus. 4 On the next window, click Install Symantec AntiVirus. 5 On the Welcome to the InstallShield Wizard for Symantec AntiVirus window, click Next. 6 On the License Agreement window, select I accept the terms in the license agreement.
