3 Step 1 Olympus Stylus 1030 SW Camera Disassembly Pry off the lens frame using a plastic opening tool. Remove the top three T6 screws of the front panel using a 1.5 mm screwdriver. Remove the three screws on the side of the lens using a Phillips #00 screwdriver. Remove the front panel by pivoting the right side of the front panel outwards using a pair of tweezers. As shown in the last image, the pivoting point is located above the lens. ifixit CC BY-NC-SA Page 3 of 10

4 Step 2 Remove the loose washer plate from the T6 screw hole using tweezers. Slowly peel off the seal from beneath the front plate. See the third image for the locations of the tape strips beneath this seal. Step 3 Remove the two screws located on the left side of the camera using a Phillips #00 screwdriver. ifixit CC BY-NC-SA Page 4 of 10

5 Step 4 Remove the two black speaker screws shown in red circles in the first image using a Phillips #00 screwdriver. After unscrewing the screws from the previous step, lift out the speaker plate when it becomes loose enough. Open the multi-connector cover shown in the yellow square in the fourth image. The multi-connector compartment is used to connect an AV cable to another device. The multiconnector has a waterproof cover and also allows the device to display pictures on a television screen. The side panel that covers the multi-connector and the speaker can be detached by sliding the side panel off of the device. ifixit CC BY-NC-SA Page 5 of 10

6 Step 5 Remove the screw located below the multi-connector cover using a Phillips #00 screwdriver. Remove the two screws located at the bottom of the camera using a Phillips #00 screwdriver. Remove the screw inside of the battery and card compartment cover using a Phillips #00 screwdriver. You will first have to open the compartment cover in order to expose the screw located inside of the battery and card compartment. Step 6 Remove the two PH00 screws from the interior front cover. Rotate the interior front plate outwards until the front plate is freed from the back panel to detach the front plate. Lift out the shutter, the power buttons, and the retaining plate. ifixit CC BY-NC-SA Page 6 of 10

7 Step 7 Open the AV port door. Unscrew the four corner screws that hold the front and back halves of the casing together using a Phillips #00 screwdriver. Release the top holding clip using a plastic spudger or a fingernail. Slowly unfold the front and back halves of the camera to expose the electrical ribbons. ifixit CC BY-NC-SA Page 7 of 10

8 Step 8 Detach the narrow copper ribbon by sliding it off of the computer chip using a thumb or a plastic opening tool and a pair of tweezers. It is easier to detach the copper ribbon by sliding the copper ribbon off of the computer chip rather than accessing the copper ribbon through the back panel. Detach the white ribbon by sliding it off of the back panel using a thumb or plastic opening tool and a pair of tweezers. Unlike the copper ribbon, it is easier to access and detach the white ribbon through the back panel. ifixit CC BY-NC-SA Page 8 of 10

9 Step 9 Pivot the black plastic strip up using a plastic opening tool and a pair of tweezers. This will lock the wide copper ribbon in place. Once the black plastic strip releases the wide copper ribbon, detach the wide copper ribbon using a thumb or a pair of tweezers.
