Do not open up, dismantle, alter or modify the device except where specifically required to do so by the instructions. All Legrand products must be opened and repaired exclusively by personnel trained and approved by Legrand. 15 2.8 PLAYBACK MODE Right-click on the screen and select the arrow as shown below. The control panel (see image below) appears in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen. You can move the panel anywhere on the screen by dragging it with the mouse. The recorded videos are displayed on the screen in 4, 9 or 16 channels display mode. If they have only one frame per second, select one and put it in full screen. You will see the recorded video with the frames per second you have set in the Record Setup -> Quality & Frames Setup... Playback - Quick function icons Fast rewind. Speed: 2x, 4x, 8x, 16x, 32x, 64x Fast forward. Speed: 2x, 4x, 8x, 16x, 32x, 64x Play or pause. Enables slow forward. 19 3 STANDARD OPERATION AND MENU SETUP 3.1 MAIN MENU To enter the main menu, right-click then click on the icon indicated by the cursor below. To access the main menu and set up the recorder, use the Admin account and the default password "123456". Virtual keyboard Main menu - Using the virtual keyboard Switches from upper case to lower case and vice versa. Switches from numbers to letters and vice versa. Closes the keyboard without saving. Deletes the last character entered. Saves an entry. See section 3.6 "Account setup" for more information on setting up other IDs. Main menu - Controls on the remote control and controls on the front Switches from one option to another within those available for a setting. Switches from one setting to another. MENU ESC ENTER Saves the settings and returns to LIVE (direct) mode. Back to the next level up in the menu. Accesses the menu or displays the virtual keyboard. 19

20 3.2 RECORD SETUP Parameter HDD Full Select Stop to stop recording or Overwrite to re-use the hard disk when it is full. [Stop] stops the recording. [Overwrite] enables the oldest data on the hard disk to be overwritten and recording to continue Can be set independently for each camera. 23 3.3 EVENT SETUP Parameter Motion Setup Sensor Setup Motion Setup Sets up motion detection. Sets up the sensor inputs. Item Alarm Duration (seconds) Motion Pop-up Sets the alarm duration (1-60 seconds). Check the box to enable the "pop-up" function for all cameras: when motion is detected on a camera, it is automatically shown in full screen Can be set independently for each camera. Enable Sensitivity Motion Area Setup Apply to All Check the box to enable the "pop-up" function for this camera. Sets the motion sensitivity for each camera from 0 (very low sensitivity) to 10 (very high sensitivity). Goes to the window for detailed definition of the motion detection area. Enables the motion detection settings of all cameras. 23

24 Motion Area Setup The motion detection area is made up of 22 x 15 cells. During initialisation, the motion detection area takes up the entire screen. The red area corresponds to the non-detected area. The detected area is transparent. The area is shown in purple in the event of network connection. Sensor Setup Parameter Mask Mouse Selection All Area Detection Mask All Area Continue Exit & Save Exit & Discard Check this box to disable the selection cells and uncheck it to enable selection with the mouse. Selects all the images in the motion detection area on the screen. Deselects all the images in the motion detection area on the screen. Continues the definition of the motion detection area. Saves the setup and exits the setup page. Cancels the setup and exits the setup page. Item Alarm Duration (Seconds) Sensor Popup Polarity All Off All Low All high Alarm duration (1 to 60 s). Check or uncheck this box to enable or disable a pop-up window during sensor detection. Used to set up the type of alarm contact for each input. Low: the sensor is not activated. When you are connected the sensor is in open state (NO ->NC). High: the sensor is activated. Once it is connected the sensor is in closed state (NC ->NO). OFF: the sensor is disabled and will not be enabled. Disables all the inputs. Sets all the inputs as NC. Sets all the inputs as NO. 24

25 3.4 SCHEDULE SETUP As well as manually controlled recording, recording times can be set weekly to always record at set times, when movement is detected or a sensor is triggered. When a recording type is selected (Normal, Motion or Sensor) and a time period is selected using the mouse, the setup appears in green on the schedule. Parameter 1/5 Click or press to select Page. Each page contains 10 time periods to be set up. 5 pages in total. Normal Motion Sensor Holiday Setup Enable Normal Motion Sensor to show the corresponding defined time periods. Sets up a holiday period, maximum duration 50 days. Click on the Date/Time icon at the top left. The setup menu appears. The setup is detailed by recording type, by time and by day of the week. Setting up a recording: click on a time period Parameter Enable Schedule Record Enable Schedule Motion Detect Enable Schedule Sensor Trigger Enables recording according to the schedule. Enables recording on detection of movement according to the schedule. Enables recording on sensor detection according to the schedule. 25

26 Holiday Setup As public holidays vary from country to country and from region to region, their dates must be set up (maximum: 50). Note: Recording priority: if a recording is scheduled, manual control cannot stop the recording. 26

27 3.5 CAMERA SETUP Parameter Can be set independently for each channel. Sharpness Set from 0 to 15 (default: 1). Mask Brightness Contrast Check or uncheck this box to enable or disable direct view of the camera. Drag the white bar or press to adjust the brightness of the camera from 1 to 255. Default: 128. Drag the white bar or press to adjust the contrast of the camera from 1 to 255. Default: 128. Saturation Set from 0 to 255 (default: 120). Name Enter the name of the channel: for convenience, preferably use a network connection in order to use a keyboard, otherwise use the mouse, or even the remote control or the keys on the front panel of the DVR. 27

28 3.6 ACCOUNT SETUP The Account Setup menu is used to set up passwords for users and assign them rights. This menu is also used to change the admin password, which is "123456" by default. Not all functions will be available from the remote site (including the toolbar). Setting up the permissions Click on Permissions in the previous menu to access user rights setup. These rights enable: - A password expiry date - Access to the Setup, PTZ, Utility and Network menus - Access to the Playback function, and the save function with Backup, and limit access to the selected cameras for playing recordings and remote access. 28

29 3.7 NETWORK SETUP The recorder manages the ADSL, DHCP and LAN connections. Parameter ADSL, DHCP, LAN HTTP Setup DDNS Setup Mail Setup Enables the type of network connection: ADSL, DHCP, LAN. Sets up the HTTP protocol for remote access to the recorder. Enables/disables and sets up the DDNS function. Enables/disables and sets up notification. DHCP If the DHCP option is used to connect the recorder to the network, an IP address is automatically assigned by the DHCP server. 29

30 LAN (local area network) If you select network connection via LAN, the following information is required. Enter the DNS address (NB: you must enter the correct DNS address to be able to access the DDNS function). ADSL If you select network connection via ADSL, the following information is required. 31 HTTP setup Item Enable Check this box to enable the HTTP server. Users can access the recorder remotely via the network if the HTTP function is enabled. Port Enter a valid port number between 1 and Default: 80. No. Quality and number of frames per second for network transmission. Select this to enable transmission on each camera. Resolution Sets the resolution of the video stream 352 x 288/180 x 144. Quality FPS Auto Select Lowest Low Normal High Highest (1-25 FPS). Select the number of frames per second. Automatically adjusts the number of frames per second so as not to exceed the Internet streaming capacity, which is set at 200. This setup concerns the stream sent to a remote user. With a narrow bandwidth, select "Low quality". The video quality and flow are maintained by sending small images. With a broad bandwidth, the quality can be set to "High". The stream that is transmitted is aligned to the stream recorded by the recorder. 33 3.8 PTZ AND RS-485 SETUP The recorder enables users to control a motorised camera. To enable the PTZ function, the RS485 cable must be connected to the RS-485 port on the recorder (see section 2.5, Connection for a PTZ camera). Parameter Enable PTZ Protocol Check or uncheck this box to enable or disable the PTZ function on each camera. Sets up the protocol of the PTZ camera. The following protocols are supported: PELCO-P, PELCO-D, KND, Luch, LG and Samsung. PTZ ID Click or press to set up the PTZ ID. It must be between 1 and 64. Baud Rate Select the PTZ baud rate (2400, 4800, 9600, 19200). RS-485 ID RS-485 Baud Rate Keyboard Not applicable. For motorised cameras in the current range: set up the recorder with the Pelco D protocol and a baud rate of 2400 Bauds. 33

The recorder will synchronise the time automatically at reinitialisation or 24 hours after reinitialisation. The date and time on the recorder will correspond to those on the Internet server immediately. SPOT setup enables the order in which the system scans the cameras in SPOT mode to be controlled. The user can monitor each camera in SPOT mode. 39 3.10 UTILITIES SETUP Parameter HDD Initialization USB Initialization System Recovery Reset System Events Copy Setup to USB Download Setup from USB Upgrade Accesses the hard disk initialisation menu. Stop recording before accessing this menu. Access the menu. The system displays all the data (model/volume) concerning the hard disk installed in the recorder. Select the hard disk to be formatted, then press "Start". Hard disk initialisation is complete when the status shows "Done". Deletes all the data on the USB peripheral. Access the USB initialisation menu, then press "YES" to delete all the data from the USB peripheral. Initialisation is complete when the status shows "Done". Restores the system default values. Reinitialises all the recording events on the recorder. Copies the setup to a USB peripheral on which a file named "sdvr.config" then appears. Downloads a setup file from a USB peripheral to the recorder. Upgrades the recorder's program via the USB function. Stops recording and saves the settings before carrying out the upgrade. The system restarts automatically once the upgrade is complete (and if it does not, restart it manually). CAUTION: DO NOT SWITCH OFF OR DISCONNECT THE USB PERIPHERAL DURING UPGRADING. This process may be incomplete, which could damage the recorder. 39

SEARCHING AND BACKING UP Use the Search button on the front panel or the remote control or right-click on the screen and select the magnifying glass tool in the menu below: 4.1 SEARCH Parameter Event Search Time search Choose this menu to access the event search. Choose this menu to access the time search. Setting up the event search criteria There may be a very large number of events. You can limit the number of results by defining criteria, which also helps with sorting (example: set up a "start time" and an "end time"). Only the selected event types will be displayed during the search. Search by events The recorder automatically adds information on the type, time and camera to each recorded event. If there are recording details for an event, the [ ] icon appears to the left of the date. Place the cursor under the line and press Enter or left-click to read these details. 41

Backup Log When an export is carried out or recordings are saved ( Backup Log ), several items of information are recorded, such as: - The IP address if it is a download - The date and time of the export - The date and time of the recording - The account that carried out the export - The cameras concerned 42

43 Time search Used to search for a specific time in the recorded data in order to play back. The date on which a recording was made is shown by a square. The system starts playback according to the selected date. Click on "year" and "month" to display a calendar. Select a date with recordings. A time bar appears for this specific date. The time can be modified (hours/minutes/seconds) or you can click with the mouse on a specific time in the time bar. Then click on "OK". The recorder will play the selected data. 43

44 4.2 BACKUP Exporting recordings The user can back up any data recorded within a defined period. To do this, connect a USB peripheral to the recorder. Use the ESC/BACKUP button on the front panel or right-click on the screen and select the disk icon in the menu. The backup file is saved in IRF format and can be read by the drive supplied with the DVR and also included when files are backed up. Parameter From To Start time of the file to be backed up. CAUTION: Do not unplug the USB peripheral and do not switch off the recorder during the backup operation, to avoid any irreversible error. 44

45 4.3 Playing exports on a computer Click on the executable file to start the Player. A message is displayed, confirm by clicking on "Run". 1- Click on "Open". Windows Explorer opens 2- Find and double-click on a recording in.irf format 45

46 The recordings are displayed in the different windows. Display functions The player offers numerous types of display: 1, 4, 9, 16, etc. Playback functions / Play/Pause. Stop. Fast forward and rewind. Bar for scrolling through the video. Creates snapshots. Creates a directory called Snapshot which will contain all the snapshots in the chosen location on the computer. Once the box is checked, a modified video will stop at the modification. 46

47 4.4 Converting IRF files to AVI files The Irftool utility, which is provided on the CD-ROM, converts IRF files to AVI format. You can then view the recordings on any player. Open the CD, go the the "Player" directory and select the "IRF Tool exe" file Run Irftool.exe on a computer. The following window will open. 1 Click on OPEN IRF. 2 Find the IRF files in the recordings backup directory on the computer. 3 Click on CONVERT. The conversion takes place and produces the same number of.avi files as there are cameras recorded in the export file. CAUTION: AVI format files do not comply with French regulations. 47

REMOTE CONNECTION Downloading and running ActiveX must be enabled in the Internet Explorer options for remote connection. 5.1 SOFTWARE INSTALLATION AND SETUP Step 1: Enter the IP address of the recorder in Internet Explorer. Step 2: A window appears. The default user name and password are admin and respectively. For other user account and password settings, please refer to section 3.6 "Account Setup". Step 3: The following download options appear: Select option 2. 1 Internet Explorer 6, 7, 8: Download via Internet Explorer. 2 Download DVR Remote Desktop (Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7): 3 Download DVR Remote Desktop (Mac OS X 10.6 or above ) Download and install the remote viewing software on the computer. Download and install the remote viewing software on a MAC OS computer. 4 JPEG viewer : Download the realtime viewing software. 5 Download Record File Player (Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7): Download the recording viewing software. 48

50 5.2 OPERATION OF THE SOFTWARE The recorder's remote control interface is user-friendly and has the same functions as the local interface. Remote recording Recordings can be saved locally on the computer. It is also possible to take snapshots on the PC from video images. Locking Click on the Lock icon to lock remote functions. To unlock, enter the user name and password again. Saving recordings remotely Select the Save As function to record the data on a computer. The remote save function is the same as the local function. It enables recordings to be exported by the remote computer and copied to a non-rewritable medium. 50

51 6. MOBILE APPLICATION You can monitor all the recorder's cameras remotely from your mobile. The required mobile application is on the CD supplied with the DVR or as a free download. It runs on the Android, iphone and Windows Mobile 5.0 (or later version) operating systems. Setting up a connection with a box For a Wi-fi connection within your LAN, use the private IP address of the DVR that you have set up, which usually starts with For a remote connection using the GPRS/3G network (that of your telephone service provider), set up the application used with the public IP address of your box (provided by your Internet service provider) then enable and set up port redirection on your box. Setting up the recorder Check that the network function has been enabled on the recorder before making the mobile connection: Main menu -> Network Setup -> HTTP Setup -> Check the "Enable HTTP server" box. 6.1 INSTALLATION AND OPERATION WITH ANDROID System setup Mobile operating system: Google Android 2.1 Mobile with GPRS, 3G and/or Wi-fi compatible internet access Installing the mobile application Follow the procedure below to use your mobile and connect remotely to the recorder. Step 1: Install the mobile application Open "Market" Find the "BuboBubo" application Type "Bubo bubo" in the search bar 51

52 Install the "BuboBubo" application: click on the "Install" button BuboBubo is installed. Step 2: Set up the "Bubo Bubo" application Start Bubo Bubo. By default "BuboBubo" displays one registered "dvr1". This "dvr1" does not have any settings and must be modified. Click on the "Edit" button. The button changes to grey and it becomes possible to modify the list of recorders. Modifies a registered DVR. Adds a new recorder. 52

53 Set up the connection settings (name, IP address, port, connection account, password) and save them. Selects the encoding format. Saves the settings. Clears all the fields. An itunes account is necessary. Installing the mobile application Follow the procedure below to use your mobile and connect remotely to the recorder. Step 1: Install the mobile application Find the "BuboBubo" application Open "App Store" Type "Bubo bubo" in the search bar. 56

57 This software is available as a free download, right-click on "FREE" to start the download. Click on the "INSTALL" button to start the installation process. Wait for the process to finish. The iphone generates a new "Bubo Bubo" application. Step 2: Set up the "Bubo Bubo" application Start Bubo Bubo 57

58 The first time you use the application, enter and save the information concerning the recorder. Press then enter the name of the DVR/IP/Port/user name/password, then click on "Save" to save the information concerning the recorder. To modify the recorder information, press " " Click on the "Edit" button in the top right-hand corner to modify the settings, then on "Done" to confirm. 58

59 Connect a recorder Several recorder setups can be saved in the "BuboBubo application. To connect and display the image, click on a recorder. The network status affects the connection time. When connection is successful, the direct view of the DVR appears. Step 3: Use the application Select a camera: Single display - Drag your finger upwards on the screen to display the camera selection menu. - Drag your finger to the left to go to the next camera. Drag it to the right to return to the previous camera. - In single camera display, double-click on the screen to go to quad display. 59

60 Quad display - In quad display, double-click on the screen to return to single camera display. - In quad display, drag your finger over the screen towards the left to display the next four cameras. - Drag towards the right to display the previous four cameras. PTZ control If the camera is motorised, the PTZ PTZ & RS-485 settings are operational in the recorder. The PTZ button left of the toolbar is enabled and changes to white. at the bottom on the Click on the PTZ button to enter PTZ mode. The PTZ icon is displayed at the top right of the screen and indicates that the application is in PTZ mode. Exits PTZ mode. Calls a Preset. Sets up a Preset. iris+ / iris- Focus+ / Focus - Opens and closes the diaphragm. Adjusts the focal length if the camera is set up in manual mode. 60

61 Setting up a "Preset" Calling a "Preset" Finger movements on the screen: Zoom in/out Pan/Tilt Move the fingers together to zoom in and apart to zoom out. To control PTZ movements (viewing direction) touch the screen and scroll on the image. The yellow circle indicates the point of origin. The point of origin is defined when the finger touches the screen. 61

62 Landscape mode: In PTZ mode, a PTZ icon can be seen in the top right-hand corner. Relay control The connection to the alarm outputs on the DVR can be controlled. Each relay can be controlled separately. 62

63 6.3 INSTALLATION AND OPERATION WITH WINDOWS MOBILE An application is available for the Windows Mobile operating system. It uses H.264 compression which enables audio and video signals to be transferred to your mobile. System setup: Mobile operating system: Windows Mobile 5.0 (or later version). Mobile with Internet access: GPRS, 3G, Wi-Fi, etc. Installation Follow the procedure below to use the remote monitoring function on your mobile device (mobile phone, PDA, etc.). Install the "H264Pocket.CAB" mobile application. It is on the CD supplied with the recorder. A folder called "H264Pocket" is then created. The installation can be carried out automatically after downloading. Otherwise select it from the downloaded files. 63

64 Operation Once installation is complete, access the Start menu on your mobile to activate the "H264Pocket" icon. This application enables you to connect remotely and view the images on the recorder. Click on "OK" to display the menu. See the table below for the setup. The connection cost depends on your telephone operator and your contract. Select a recorder, press "Modify", then press "OK" to save the modifications. Select a DVR, then press "Delete" to delete the information concerning that recorder. Use in direct view mode Once you are connected to the recorder, press "View" to display the control menu.
