2 2 Overview The Symphony Keyboard is available with either a 2D or 3D joystick. The 3D Joystick controls zoom in and out, as well as direction. The unit provides all the functions required to operate PTZ cameras and speed domes, with the ability to program presets and camera settings using the on screen display. The same unit can be used to remotely operate and configure any of the Symphony range of DVRs.

3 Installation Details 3 Rear Panel Power Switch: /OFF. 5 Joystick - (Not supported) DC Power Input : 12V. RS485 Data Buss : Terminals. RS485 Data Buss : RJ MODE : DIL switch setting - protocol / baud rate. Communication connector RS232. (Not supported). RS485 Connections Please read the operation manual of the keyboard and the speed dome carefully before connecting wires. When connecting wires, first switch off the power to all devices. The communication wires should be shielded twisted cable and should be kept as far away as possible from high voltage lines or other potential sources of interference. RJ45 Socket Screw Terminals UTP 1 & TA TB GND (+) (-)

4 4 Set Protocol The Symphony Keyboard can be used to control up to 255 compatible RS485 devices e.g. speed dome cameras or Symphony DVR s (max 4). Each camera and DVR should be addressed with a unique ID. Determine the Protocol and Baud Rate in use with the devices to be connected and assign these settings to the Keyboard using the MODE switch settings as shown below. Protocol Pelco-D 2400Bps Mode switch 1 (Down) Pelco-P 4800Bps switch 2 (Down) Pelco-P 9600Bps switch 3 (Down) COP Bps switch 1 & 2 (Down) When using the Keyboard to control a Symphony DVR, ensure the ID of the Unit does not conflict with those of the speed domes. Enter the option. Management >> System Settings >> 232/485. Select RS485 and check the ID of the unit and change if required. To avoid any possible conflict with the cameras it is recommended that you set the ID of the DVR(s) to be, for example 101, 102 etc. (then Camera 1 can be ID 001, Camera 2 can be ID002 etc.

5 5 Typical Configuration Termination resistor RS485 Buss switch 5 The RS485 standards require a daisy-chain connection between the equipment. There must be a 120 ohm termination resistor fitted at both ends of the connection. The termination resistor on the keyboard can be incorporated by setting the MODE switch 5 to Mode switch 5 (Down)
