1 1 SYMPHY KEYBOARD
2 2 Overview The Symphony Keyboard is available with either a 2D or 3D joystick. The 3D Joystick controls zoom in and out, as well as direction. The unit provides all the functions required to operate PTZ cameras and speed domes, with the ability to program presets and camera settings using the on screen display. The same unit can be used to remotely operate and configure any of the Symphony range of DVRs.
3 Installation Details 3 Rear Panel Power Switch: /OFF. 5 Joystick - (Not supported) DC Power Input : 12V. RS485 Data Buss : Terminals. RS485 Data Buss : RJ MODE : DIL switch setting - protocol / baud rate. Communication connector RS232. (Not supported). RS485 Connections Please read the operation manual of the keyboard and the speed dome carefully before connecting wires. When connecting wires, first switch off the power to all devices. The communication wires should be shielded twisted cable and should be kept as far away as possible from high voltage lines or other potential sources of interference. RJ45 Socket Screw Terminals UTP 1 & TA TB GND (+) (-)
4 4 Set Protocol The Symphony Keyboard can be used to control up to 255 compatible RS485 devices e.g. speed dome cameras or Symphony DVR s (max 4). Each camera and DVR should be addressed with a unique ID. Determine the Protocol and Baud Rate in use with the devices to be connected and assign these settings to the Keyboard using the MODE switch settings as shown below. Protocol Pelco-D 2400Bps Mode switch 1 (Down) Pelco-P 4800Bps switch 2 (Down) Pelco-P 9600Bps switch 3 (Down) COP Bps switch 1 & 2 (Down) When using the Keyboard to control a Symphony DVR, ensure the ID of the Unit does not conflict with those of the speed domes. Enter the option. Management >> System Settings >> 232/485. Select RS485 and check the ID of the unit and change if required. To avoid any possible conflict with the cameras it is recommended that you set the ID of the DVR(s) to be, for example 101, 102 etc. (then Camera 1 can be ID 001, Camera 2 can be ID002 etc.
5 5 Typical Configuration Termination resistor RS485 Buss switch 5 The RS485 standards require a daisy-chain connection between the equipment. There must be a 120 ohm termination resistor fitted at both ends of the connection. The termination resistor on the keyboard can be incorporated by setting the MODE switch 5 to Mode switch 5 (Down)
6 6 Mode Select Select Operation When all the connections required have been made, switch the Power. The Keyboard will initialise then default to providing PTZ control. Display: Current CamID:001 To change the Keyboard for DVR control press the F3 button. Display: Addr: * DVR-SHE * To revert the Keyboard to PTZ control press the F3 button again. Press F3 to toggle between PTZ and DVR control
7 DVR Operation 7 Log in Press the F3 button to select DVR control. Display: Addr: * DVR-SHE * Press the CAM/ID button - the LCD will ask you to Input the DVR ID you wish to control. Use the number keypad to input the ID then Press ENTER In Addr: * DVR-SHE * Addr: * DVR-SHE * Press the MENU button and you will be presented with the Symphony Log in screen. Press ENTER and select your user ID from the drop down list, using the UP and DOWN arrows, then Press ENTER. Input your password, using the number keypad, to Log in to the system. (Note: You need to press ENTER after each number press). e.g ENTER ENTER ENTER ENTER
8 8 Engineer Access Depending on the Level of access granted, you will be now be able to operate the system using the Keyboard as if you were using the DVR itself. (The Copy function is obviously not available on a remote Keyboard) If Engineer access has been selected, Changes to the configuration of the Symphony DVR can be made using using the Keyboard. For Engineer use and configuration changes, use the Up, DOWN, LEFT and RIGHT arrows for navigation around the menus and the ENTER button to select and confirm changes. (refer to the Engineers Guide, when necessary, for more detailed information regarding each option).
9 9 User Access When logged into the DVR, you will be now be able to operate the system using the Keyboard as if you were using the front panel of the DVR itself. (The Copy function is obviously not available on a remote Keyboard) The Text below each button denotes its function when using for DVR control. View To select the on screen format press VIEW Each time the button is pressed the display will change to the next available format. Sequential - displays the image from each camera, full screen, sequentially. Picture in Picture - displays two camera images simultaneously, (one within the other). (these will have been pre-defined by the engineer). 4-Up - displays the images from four cameras simultaneously. * 9-Up - displays the images from nine cameras simultaneously. * 16-Up - displays the images from sixteen cameras simultaneously. Repeat until the screen displays the cameras as required. * where available on DVR. Each camera can also be selected to display as a Full Screen image. Type in the number of the camera required on the number keypad then press ENTER. Live To view live images (i.e. exit playback) press LIVE
10 10 Time Search Press SEARCH to access the search menu. Press ENTER to select and access the Time Search set up. Use the UP, DOWN, LEFT and RIGHT arrows to highlight the Day box, press ENTER to select. The 2 digits denoting the Day will now be available for editing - the first digit will be highlighted. The LEFT and RIGHT arrows can now be used to move along and highlight the digit to be changed - when selected, the UP and DOWN buttons are used to increment that number. When the Day is displayed as required, press ENTER to select. Use the Navigation buttons to highlight the Month box. press ENTER to select. Repeat as above until the Month is set as required. Repeat the above procedure to set the year and the time (hh : mm) until the search start time and date are as required. Use the DOWN arrow to highlight the Search button. Press ENTER and the recorded footage from that time will be replayed. Press LIVE to exit playback.
11 11 Event Search Press SEARCH to access the search menu. Press the DOWN arrow to highlight Event Search. Press ENTER to select and access the Event Search set up. Use the Navigation buttons to set the Time Window of interest using the same method as described previously (see Time Search). Use the Navigation buttons to highlight any camera as required and press ENTER to select. (repeatedly pressing ENTER will toggle between select and deselect). Use the Navigation buttons to highlight the type of Event(s) for which you want to search. Press ENTER to select. (repeatedly pressing ENTER will toggle between select and deselect). Use the DOWN arrow to highlight the Search button. Press ENTER and a list of events will be displayed. Use the arrows to highlight an event. Press ENTER and the recorded footage for that event will be replayed. Press LIVE to exit playback.
12 12 Playback Press PLAY and the unit will start to playback all the recorded images. (from the first available footage). Following selection of Time Search or Event Search, press PLAY and the unit will start to playback the recorded images for the period selected. Use the FF and REW buttons to Fast Scan forward or backward through the recorded footage. (speeds available: 2x, 4x, 8x, 16x, 32x and Max). Press PAUSE to freeze the image or PLAY to return to normal playback speed. During Playback, use the for Full or Split screens. VIEW button at any time to change the display format Press any Camera Select button to display the full screen image from the corresponding camera. Press again to return to the split screen. During Playback, pressing STEP or STEP (reverse or forward) automatically puts the playback into Step (frame by frame) mode. Press PLAY, FF or REW to return to normal playback. Press LIVE to exit playback at any time. Zoom To digitally zoom in on a Live image press ZOOM Use the UP, DOWN, LEFT and RIGHT ARROWS to move the zoom area around the screen. Press the ZOOM button again to zoom out to normal view. Note: The zoom feature is only available on full screen live images.
13 PTZ Operation 13 PTZ Control The function of the push buttons on the Keyboard are dependent on the mode of operation selected. The Text above each button denotes its function when using for PTZ control. Quick Reference : CALL - Call the preset position. PRESET - Set the preset position. SHOT - Call preset tour. F1 - Auxiliary control buttons. F2 - Auxiliary control buttons. F3 - Switch Keyboard control between Speed Domes and DVRs. WIDE - Turn to a wide angle view. TELE - Turn to a telescopic range. FAR - Manually focus on far objects. NEAR - Manually focus on near objects. OPEN - Open the camera iris. CLOSE - Close the camera iris. CAM/ID - Select address (ID) of the Speed Dome. AUTO - Control auto-horizontal rotation for pan/tilt. - Turn vibration control on. OFF - Turn vibration control off.
14 14 Preset The Speed Dome presets can be programmed from the Keyboard. Select the camera you wish set up. Press the CAM/ID button - the LCD will ask you to Input the Camera ID. Input CamID:001 Use the number keypad to input the ID then Press ENTER Current CamID:009 Use the Joystick to obtain the camera image you require. Press the PRESET button, the LCD will ask you to input the number for the preset. Preset No. :001 Use the number keypad to input the ID then Press ENTER A confirmation message will be displayed on screen when using COP dome cameras. Preset No. :006 Use the Joystick to obtain the next camera image if required. Press the PRESET button and enter the next Preset ID. Continue until all presets are set up. Call The Speed Dome presets can be called from the Keyboard. Display the camera you wish view. Press the CAM/ID button - the LCD will ask you to Input the Camera ID. Input CamID:001 Use the number keypad to input the ID then Press ENTER Current CamID:009
15 15 Press the CALL button, the LCD will ask you to input the number for the preset required. Call Number :001 Use the number keypad to input the ID then Press ENTER Preset No. :006 The Dome will move and display the preset image called for. A confirmation message will be displayed on screen when using COP dome cameras. Shot The tour sequence programmed into the Speed Dome can be selected to display. Display the camera you wish view. Press the CAM/ID button - the LCD will ask you to Input the Camera ID. Input CamID:001 Use the number keypad to input the ID then Press ENTER Press the SHOT button, the LCD will ask you to input the number for the tour required. Current CamID:009 Input Tour No.:1 Use the number keypad to input the ID then Press ENTER Input Tour No. :2 The Dome will move and display the preset image called for. A confirmation message will be displayed on screen when using COP dome cameras.
