11 1 Product Description Single Channel, Real-Time Digital Video Encoder Honeywell s Network Video Encoder (HNVE130A) is the ideal real-time high resolution digital encoder for upgrading existing analog video systems to a networked IP video solution. The HNVE130A is an integral component to Honeywell s Enterprise Digital Video Manager (DVM). The encoder will convert an analog video signal into a digital format and send this data to a DVM workstation for live viewing or a server for recording. The HNVE130A also supports signals from both fixed and Pan/Tilt/Zoom (PTZ) cameras with control capabilities. The digital formats available include MJPEG, MPEG1, MPEG2, MPEG4, and DivX. Customizable performance of the encoder includes frame rate, resolution, and compression levels that can be dynamically configured to meet any system requirements. Market Opportunities The HNVE130A is a cost-effective way to leverage existing investments in analog video equipment while upgrading the entire video surveilance system to a networked IP solution. For new video installations, the encoder will allow network video systems to be designed with the user s choice of analog cameras that meet the performance needs of the application. The single channel design of the encoder with a rackmount accesory also makes it perfect for remote applications or centralized video control rooms. Rev Document

49 B Restoring Factory Defaults WARNING! All configuration information is lost, and the unit is restored to all factory defaults when the reset button is pressed. This includes the IP address information. The encoder may need to be reset to factory defaults if you forget the password, or the unit becomes locked and unresponsive. The unit will restore factory defaults by pressing the recessed reset button with a paper clip for about two seconds while the unit is powered and running. Note The IP address will also return to the default setting when the reset button is pressed. See Setting the IP Address on page 9 for information on re-configuring the unit IP address. Rev Document

51 C Troubleshooting The following table describes typical technical issues that you may encounter from time to time and tells you how to solve them. If this happens Grainy, poor quality Video No Video Unit stops responding, or cannot be reached by the DVM System Do this The bit rate may be set too low for the current resolution, framerate and compression mode. Try increasing the Bit Rate or Quality setting in the Video page of the HNVE130A streamer. Confirm that the video standard is set correctly. The unit will default to NTSC and must be changed to PAL if a PAL video source is applied (see Video on page 22). Also, confirm that the video standard configured as the DVM camera definition is the same as the video source given. Verify that the encoder is working properly by connecting directly to the encoder HTTP interface. Use the ENCP application to determine the unit IP address, if required, and connect to the streamer with your browser (see Setting the IP Address on page 9 and Viewing Live Images on page 18). If the ENCP application does not discover the unit, try cycling power on the encoder. If the HTTP interface is working properly, review the DVM IP address, password and settings. Rev Document

52 If this happens HNVE130A does not deliver 1 and 2 FPS consistently Does not stream the video when the camera settings are changed in the DVM client Do this We recommend you use an FPS value of more than 2 in the DVM client. The work around for this is to change the compression type and revert back to the previous one. Rev Document
