Adding devices remotely (WAN) 1. Under Add / Edit Site, click the Add 2. Enter the Hostname or IP address, user name and password then click the OK. 7

2.Configuration Setting The Configuration tab allows you to manage and personalize different aspects of the CMS2 software. In this section you will find features such as export paths, OSD options, display settings, alerts, SMTP settings, and CMS2 user account settings. 2.1 General 8

Export o Layout o The export path specifies where screenshots, video exports, and other items are saved. By default, this is set to your current user accounts desktop. To change this press the symbol to the right of the path and navigate to a different folder or create your own. This option specifies what controls are available to you. The Basic layout will afford you all the normal controls and features of CMS2 while Advanced will display additional toolbars for PTZ Control, Image Control, Alarm Control, and Playback Control. [Basic Layout] [Advanced Layout] Background Streaming Limit o This setting alters how CMS2 treats unseen video streams to maximize performance. For example, while viewing a single camera in live view CMS2 will disconnect from the other cameras to preserve bandwidth and CPU usage. This may be advantageous to users who normally only monitor a small segment of cameras at a given time and do not change views often. Users who monitor many cameras and swap images around frequently might leave this unchecked as it will delay connection to other cameras. 9

2.2 Display OSD (On-Screen Display) This setting governs exactly what information is displayed in the camera pane. You may check and uncheck items as you see fit. o o o o o 1 Camera Number 2 Camera Name 3 Site Name 4 Event 5 Date and Time 10

2.3 Application Display o This setting adjusts the aspect ratios of the camera images. It will not affect the aspect ratio of the program itself. Resolution o This setting allows you to configure which video stream CMS2 tries to access by default. On certain units such as the ED and EN units there are multiple streams that can be accessed. Auto will allow CMS2 to connect to the highest resolution video stream by default. If you are experiencing bandwidth issues, try connecting to a secondary video stream instead. 11

Auto Shutdown o This feature, when enabled, will automatically close CMS2 after a set time. Increments are in single minute units and may be adjusted accordingly. Connection Mode o Connection mode specifies how many units CMS2 attempts to connect to at once. When Multiple Sites is selected, CMS2 will automatically attempt to connect to every unit listed under My Sites. While quicker for switching between multiple units be aware that this will utilize more of your computer s resources. If you are experiencing delays in accessing menus, playback, and other features try switching over to the Single Site option. Auto Refresh o Auto refresh automatically updates the selected fields. Auto Connect o If CMS2 loses connection to a device this setting will enable CMS2 to automatically attempt to reestablish a connection. The reconnection interval may be adjusted from 0 to 99 seconds. 12

2.4 Alarm This setting will allow CMS2 to display alarms (akin to what you would see at the unit itself). To use this function first check the Use box and select which notifications you would like to receive. The Duration setting is adjustable from 3 seconds to 99 seconds. 2.5 Health/Status Report To enable Health and Status Report s first enable Send Health / Status Report and select what type of reports you would like to receive. The To line underneath this specifies the destination. 13

Once that is completed fill in the SMTP field. If you are unsure about your SMTP information (such as server or port) contact your provider. We have included a Use Gmail feature that will auto-fill the server and port information if you utilize their services for mail. Once this area has been filled press Test. You will receive a test if all the information you provided is correct. At this point you may select the sites from which you wish to receive updates from. The My Sites check box will automatically select all units listed underneath it. 14

reports will come in the following format. Certain fields may be left blank depending on which DVR/firmware is being used. 2.6 Account The account page controls user accounts and associated privileges within the CMS2 software. Please note these accounts are not connected to the DVRs in any way, shape, or form. From this screen you can activate/deactivate accounts and modify what certain users have access to and control. 15

3.Favorite setting By creating a Favorite group you will be able to simultaneously view cameras from multiple DVR/NVRs that you have added into your My Site list. To access this feature first click on Favorite first click the icon located on the bottom left of the console. To now create a new favorite group right click under Favorite and select Add/Edit Favorite. 16

You will now be presented with the following menu. To customize your favorite view do the following. o Select the layout you would like from box #3 o Double click on My Sites in box #1 to expand your site list. From here you can doubleclick on DVR/NVR units whose cameras you would like to include into your favorites group. Once the DVR/NVR unit is expanded drag the cameras you would like included into one of the empty camera panes in the center of the console. o After this is completed name your favorites group in box #2 and click add in box #3. Once this has been completed you will see an information box open with the message Add a site successfully. Okay out of that menu and your Favorite group should now be located in the Favorite Group List. Press OK on the bottom right of this menu. 17

Now click on your Favorite Group name in the left and your favorite group will populate your screen. 18

4.Live View and Functions In this section we will cover some of the features that CMS2 provides while in live view. Features such as Digital Zoom, PTZ Control, Screen Captures, and more will be covered here. To access these functions first ensure that your DVR/NVR units are properly added to the CMS2 software and are accessible currently. They should appear in the Site column on the left under My Sites. Once this is completed these features should be accessible assuming your DVR supports these features. 4.1 Digital Zoom This feature allows you to zoom into an image via software. To access the digital zoom feature of CMS2 first navigate to the live screens of the DVR you want to view. This can be accomplished by double clicking on the unit located in the My Sites list on the left side. Once this has been completed you may either double click on a single camera image to enlarge it OR if you want to access digital zoom and still retain view of all the other connected cameras you may stay on the camera overview. Select the camera you wish to utilize the digital zoom feature on and right click in that picture pane. From there select the digital zoom function that appears in the menu. A yellow crosshair should appear in the center of the screen to indicate where to digital zoom is focused. This will be accompanied by a miniature portrait in the upper right which will show you the full field of view. From the miniature portrait you may change where the digital zoom feature is focused on by either clicking once anywhere in the miniature or clicking anywhere in the white focus box and dragging it to your desired location. 19

To exit digital zoom right click anywhere in the camera image and navigate to Off under Digital Zoom. This will restore the regular camera view. 4.2 Video Stream Video stream options are available for users who may be experiencing latency or bandwidth related problems. By using the second stream option a user may alleviate some of these issues by lowering the incoming video quality and thus altering the incoming bandwidth. To access and change these settings right click on a camera image and select Video Stream. From there select the desired stream you wish to connect to. Please note it is also possible to alter the default connection stream for all units from the Application tab in the Configuration settings. This is outlined further in the configuration settings part of this manual. 20

4.3 Video Export This feature allows you to quickly export video in real time from a live view straight to your desktop To export video in real time first select the camera you would like to export from and right click anywhere in the image pane. From there select Video Export. This will create a file on your desktop following the naming scheme *DVR Name*_Year/Month/Day*. A [R] will also appear in the upper left hand corner of your camera pane to alert you that the export process is currently in progress. Please note that the video clip created on your desktop will not be viewable until you stop the video export. To end the video export you must again right click in the camera pane and select the Video Export option (which should be currently highlighted). The [R] in your camera pane should also disappear. The file will now be viewable utilizing a media player which can play.mp4 format files. 21

4.4 PTZ Control This feature allows you to control your Pan Tilt Zoom (PTZ) enabled cameras from CMS2. Before attempting to use this feature, please ensure that your PTZ works locally at the DVR itself. Also, be aware that the PTZ function will appear enabled for cameras that do not have PTZ functionality. To access the PTZ function of your PTZ enabled camera, right click in the window pane of the camera you wish to control. From there select PTZ Control from the menu that appears. You may choose to use the PTZ control function while viewing all your cameras simultaneously or you can full-screen the image prior to selecting PTZ Control. 22

Once PTZ Control has been selected, a yellow crosshair will appear in the image pane similar to the one you have seen with the Digital Zoom feature. This crosshair will indicate exactly where your PTZ enabled camera is focusing. To control the PTZ you must now either left click once anywhere in the image pane to instruct the PTZ camera to focus on that area or left click and drag anywhere in the pane to control the PTZ. To access more detailed PTZ controls click on Configuration button on the top row of buttons and select Advanced in the Layout section. 23

Once the above step has been completed you will see the menu below appear on the left of the cameras. Tooltips are available for each of these buttons once you hover over them with your cursor. To exit PTZ mode right click once in the image pane and de-select PTZ Control. This will make the yellow crosshair disappear. The PTZ will now resume the home tour or preset mode if one was programmed. If not, the PTZ will remain focused in the direction it was last left in. 24

4.5 Screen Capture This feature allows you to easily export a screen capture to your desktop in the common.png format. To access this feature right click on either a full screened image or in any of the cameras in the overview of all your cameras. A single image screen capture will produce a.png file with just one camera and conversely the multi screen image will produce a screenshot with all the cameras included. You will be prompted to attach a Memo to the exported photo. This will appear on the bottom of the picture. A window detailing the file path of the screenshot will now appear on the screen. By default the image will be saved to your desktop. It will be accessible with any editor or photo viewing program that can read.png files. 4.6 Print Screen This feature will automatically send a screenshot to any networked printer you have saved. As with the screen capture this feature will worked in single camera mode or multi-camera mode. Select Screen Capture by right clicking on any camera (or the full-screened camera). This will prompt you to add a Memo. After a memo is entered, a Print Preview menu will open with different formatting options. To send the task to a networked printer click on the printer icon. This will prompt you with a selection of networked printers. 25

Multi Windows This feature allows you to form a separate sub window with the cameras (sans the menus) 26

5.Playback Once a site has been successfully added, you can now connect Live by double-clicking on the site name. 5.1 Calendar Search 1. Press the Playback tab 2. Under Timetable Tab, you will have a screen with a calendar on the bottom left side of the software. Click the desired date you would like to search. 3. After clicking your desired date you will have a timeline to the right of the calendar with yellow highlights stating where there was recording saved. Find the time you would like to view and double click on the yellow highlighted section. While watching the playback you have the option to play, rewind, fast forward, pause. 4. To do this you will use the playback control options to the left of the calendar. To fast forward and rewind there is a horizontal bar with a 1x to the right of it. It will have a small dot on the bar, by moving this to the right it will fast forward and moving it to the left it will rewind the saved recording. 27

5.2 Go -To Search Input the specific Date and Time then press Go. 5.3 Event Search Under the Playback Event View tab, you can search by filtering through any events by category. Available Categories are Motion, Alarm, Video Loss, Bookmark, Text-in 28

6.Backup The record file can be downloaded to your remote computer. Click the Download button from the list. 1. Enter the starting date and time. 2. Enter the ending date and time 3. Check the camera channel that you wish to download the file. 4. Create the destination file location Press the Start. After finishing the download, it can be played by any media player such as QuickTime, GOM player, VLC player, etc. 29
