13 Light on Board Optically Enabled ASIC Integration of Reflex LightABLE optical engines onto daughtercards with industry standard ICs. Benefits: Power reduction. Cheaper PCB materials. No impact to PCB assembly. Lower latency and EMI. Optics are still replaceable. A low-cost replacement of pluggable optical modules or large multi-strand copper cables. Slide 13

15 Example: HPC PCI-express card with Light on Board The introduction of parallel optical I/O gives an FPGA IC packages multiple (4, 8, 12, 24, 48) optical channels all operating at up to 10 Gbps rates. 2 LightABLEs Gbps, bi-directional data Connectivity to other optically enabled FPGAs (virtual multicore FPGA system) as well as connectivity to other high performance cards and chassis.
