They can be opened individually, thus permitting individual assembly of two fibre pairs without touching the other fibre bundles. Fibres which have not been cut or are not in use can also be stored. The FO-MB has a double cover which is designed for the installation of two different locks. This permits separate access, for example for the network operator and customers. Installation of preassembled FO connector modules significantly reduces installation time. All installation steps can be carried out without labourintensive passing through of cables or fibres. This allows reconfiguration and expansion of a network to be carried out without a time-consuming and costly disconnection of the network. The FO-MB 12 accommodates one connector module 8HP/3U for 12 fibres; the FO-MB 24 accommodates two connector modules for a total of 24 fibres. 16 3.8 FO-System Distributor N Overview FO-based outdoor distributors for high numbers of fibres are fitted into cross connection cabinets. Such distributors from KRONE are then often used as outdoor distribution points in networks and are characterized by allowing optimum access. KRONE has developed the FO distributor in the network (FO distributor N) for the OPAL projects of Deutsche Telekom AG. In order to meet the increased demands in the field of access networks, the FO system distributor in the network (FO system distributor N), which is also patented, was developed as a logical progression of the experience gained. The central unit of the FO system distributor N is designed to accommodate the splice connections and spare cable lengths in FO cassette housings. The FO couplers and/or coupler modules can also be stored here. The splice connections are stored in standardized splice cassettes which are stored in separate FO cassette housings. These cassette housings are also designed to accommodate the fiber bundles with a total of 12 fibers (1x12 or 3x4 fibers) and the related connection fibers. A working length of approx. 1.5m can be stored; this length is required in order to connect the splice cassette (from the cassette housing in the mounting position in the distributor) to the splice table. The FO system distributor N has a patch unit which also offers the possibility of connecting optical plug connectors. An application which is becoming a necessity in an ever-increasing number of network configurations. FO System distributor N (without housing) The FO system distributor N is designed in such a way that it can be easily adapted and installed in various cross connection cabinets. This is true for all enclosures with a minimum depth of 210 mm and a minimum height of 800mm. 17 FO-PROFIL Distributor System 3.9 Gf-PROFIL-Splice Module Order Nr. FO-PROFIL-splice module Pack FO-PROFIL-splice module The fibre-optic splice module PROFIL (FO-SpM) serves for the storage of splice connections. Tray housings,which accommodate both splice connections and excess lengths, are installed in a holder which is simply snapped onto the profile rods (centre-to-centre distance: 95 mm). The FO-SpM PROFIL can only be installed in a VtCom FO-600 or in a PROFIL distribution frame with sufficient space.
