1 HD Network Video System 21 March 2013 HD Express Network Video Solution The HD Express embedded NVR series is designed specifically to provide a simple and cost effective solution for using High Definition Network Cameras. The system includes PoE ports for each camera allowing the NVR to provide power directly to a maximum of 16 cameras. The software automatically detects and configures network cameras as they are plugged into the unit. Programming is optional. The HD Express was designed specifically for High Definition displays (1080P), so the menu and navigation is crisp and clean. The high performance hardware is designed to display all high definition H.264 network cameras simultaneously in real-time. The video can be remotely accessed with an internet browser or a mobile phone application. Maintenance is simple with easy access to hard drive bays. The following cameras provide additional features such as remote lens controls and are designed specifically for use with the HD Express NVR. 3 What is the maximum distance that the camera can be from the NVR? The standard maximum length for CAT5 is 100 meters. Media adapters, PoE Extenders, or network hubs can be used on the individual lines to extend the distance from the NVR. What type of monitors can be connected to the HDExpress NVR? The 4 and 8 channel HD Express models have HMDI outputs only. The 16 channel model has both RGB and HDMI outputs (only one can be used). The output is 1920x1080P at 60Hz. The NVR does not support 50Hz. Can you connect to third party network cameras? The NVR supports the ONVIF protocol. Vicon tests compatibility using the ONVIF conformance tool but doesn t test third party cameras. Can you add or replace hard drives? The HDExpress has easy access to the hard drive bays. The 4/8 channel units supports two hard drives and the 16 channel unit supports 5 hard drives. The unit will automatically detect and format new SATA drives. There is also an esata port available for additional storage. The HDExpress uses S.M.A.R.T (Self-Monitoring, Analysis and Report Technology) to detect hard drives that are likely to cause a problem. How do I estimate the number of days of storage? There is a storage calculator available on the website. There are many variables that determine the number of days of recording. Motion based recording is an effective means of extending the units recording capabilities. Other options are to reduce the recorded resolution, the compression ratio, and/or frame rate. The following table is only an estimate. Each location will have slightly different results. 4 How can I remotely view the video from the HDExpress? Operators and remotely log into the NVR using a tablet or smart phone. There is a web based interface that is optimized for Microsoft Explorer which gives you additional capabilities such as exporting video or changing configurations. The HDExpress has a simple screenshot that tells you the network address that should be used and if the unit is connected to the internet for remote viewing. How much bandwidth is needed to view the cameras remotely? The HD Express can be configured to stream the original 1080P video to the remote viewer. At full frame rate and resolution, the bandwidth is approximately 2-4 Mb/sec per camera stream. The NVR can be configured to reduce the frame rate and scale the image to standard definition (D1 resolution) to improve remote viewing. The bandwidth can reduced to under 300 Kb/sec per camera stream. Does the HDExpress watermark the video to ensure authenticity? Yes. The Backup Player application gives the user the option to check the watermark before playing the video. Does the HDExpress have alarm input and outputs? The HD Express has 2 alarm inputs and 1 alarm output. Additionally, the NVR supports an alarm input and output from each network camera. What is the maximum size of hard drives that can be used? The HD Express NVR supports 500GB, 1TB, 1.5TB, 2TB, 3TB, and 4TB 3.5 SATA hard drives. Does the HD Express have audio capabilities? Two way audio capabilities of the network cameras is supported. The operator can select which channel to listen to as well as which camera outputs to push streaming audio. This allows the user to speak to an individual remotely or to broadcast messages to multiple locations simultaneously. Audio encoded by the network cameras can be recorded. The HD Express has an internal microphone input and speaker output. The internal microphone input is strictly used for sending live audio to speakers connected to cameras. 5 Can I use existing analog coax cabling with the HD Express? Media converters such as the CE-1COAX can be used to utilize the existing coax cabling (maximum distance: 1,524 meters). These devices allow installers to retrofit existing analog systems that use coax cable with the networks cameras. It is important that the installer check the length of the cable to ensure that it is within the specification of the media converter. The media converters must be installed on both ends of the coax cable to work with the HD Express and the network camera. The least expensive method of extending the range of the camera from the HD Express is to use a PoE extender such as CWPOEIPS-15 (maximum distance: 100 meters). Power over Ethernet Extender.
