What you can do with Gʼz EYE Installing the app on your smartphone and then establishing a connection with your camera enables the functions described below. Registering the Camera on the App To use the camera with a Bluetooth wireless technology capable smartphone, perform the procedure below to register the camera on the app. After registering the camera on the app, turning on the camera will cause it to connect automatically with the smartphone using Bluetooth wireless technology. Important! Perform the procedure below after enabling both the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth settings of the 2. Tap Start. 3 Establishing a Wireless LAN Use the procedure below to establish a wireless connection between the camera and a Turn on your smartphone s Wi-Fi before connecting. You can unregister by deleting the registration data from both the app and the camera. Camera SSID and Password The SSID is provided on a sheet ([Important] About the camera s SSID) packed with the camera. You can find the initial default password in the camera s user s guide. 1. Start up the app. 2. On the top screen, tap Setting. This displays the settings screen. 3. For Camera Registration, tap Unregister. 4. Tap Unpair. This deletes the camera s registration information from the app. 5. Perform the required operation on the camera to delete the app s registration information from the camera. For details about camera operations, see the user documentation that comes with it. 3

4 Shooting Images You can configure shooting settings and shoot images using a smartphone, the camera, or an optional controller. Images you shoot are saved in camera memory. Using the App to Shoot Images You can use the app to configure shooting settings and to shoot images. that camera button operations or an optional controller cannot be used to shoot images while you are shooting images with the Gʼz EYE app. 1. H No Look Mode button Enters the Remote Capture screen No Look Mode. Swiping the screen from top to bottom will also enter the No Look Mode. I Recording settings button Use the REC menu to configure shooting conditions. J Battery status Shows the camera s battery status. If is displayed, charge the battery as soon as possible. High Low K Zoom button Digital zoom can zoom an image up to 4X. L Remaining memory Shows how much memory capacity remains for storage of images shot with the camera. With some recording modes, the shooting area shown on the monitor screen is different from the actual image that is shot. No Look Mode If you want to keep your eye on the movement of the subject without looking at the smartphone screen, tap on the Remote Capture screen, or swipe the screen from top to bottom. This will display only the shutter button, making it easier to tap when shooting. To return to the previous screen, swipe the screen from bottom to top. Shooting Snapshots You can shoot snapshots using the Photo or Premium Auto Pro Photo recording mode. Photo : Standard Auto recording mode. Premium Auto Pro Photo : With Premium Auto Pro, the camera automatically makes decisions about your subject, environment, and other factors. It delivers higher image quality than Photo. recording mode to Photo or Premium Auto Pro Photo. 3. Tap the shutter button. This records the snapshot. Shooting a Movie Use the Movie mode to shoot movies. You can change the image quality setting as desired. l Configuring Shooting Conditions recording mode to Movie. 3. Tap the shutter button. This will start movie recording. When shooting a movie with any other image quality setting besides STD, the image of what is currently being recorded will not appear on the display. 4. Tap the shutter button to stop recording. C Self-timer button Tap to toggle the self-timer between on and off. D Grid button Toggles the grid between show and hide. E REC Mode Shows the current recording mode. Shutter button 4

5 Shooting a Slow Motion Segment while Recording a Movie Dramatic Slow Motion can be used during movie recording to switch to slow motion recording for a specific period. You can highlight specific portions of a movie by recording them in slow motion. You can use the recording setting screen items below to specify the slow motion start point and duration. ー Slow Motion Operation ー Slow Motion Time l Configuring Shooting Conditions recording mode to Dramatic Slow Motion. 3. Tap the shutter button. This will start movie recording. The image of what is currently being recorded will not appear on the display. 4. At the point you want to switch to slow motion recording, tap the slow motion start button. Tap Slow motion recording will start in accordance with the setting you configured with Slow Motion Operation. Normal recording will resume after the time specified by the Slow Motion Time setting elapses. You can perform multiple slow motion recording operation within a single movie recording session. 5. Tap the shutter button to stop recording. Shooting with High Speed CS Multiple images can be recorded for a single High Speed CS operation. You can use the recording settings screen items below to specify the High Speed CS frames per second (fps) and the maximum number of images to be shot by a single operation. ー High Speed CS fps ー Maximum CS Shots l Configuring Shooting Conditions recording mode to High Speed CS. 3. Tap the shutter button. This will shoot a group of High Speed CS images. The speed and number of images are in accordance with the High Speed CS fps and Maximum CS Shots settings you configured. Shooting with Prerecord CS Prerecord CS saves images of what occurred before the shutter button is pressed. You can use the recording settings screen items below to specify the frames per second (fps), the maximum number of images to be shot by a single operation, and the number of pre-recorded images to be included. ー High Speed CS fps ー Maximum CS Shots ー Pre-record CS Shots l Configuring Shooting Conditions recording mode to Prerecord (Still image). 3. Tap Pre REC. To cancel an ongoing image prerecording operation, tap Pre REC again. 4. Tap the shutter button. This saves the pre-recorded images currently in memory followed by real-time recording of images in accordance with the settings you configured. Shooting a Time Lapse Movie Time Lapse shoots a series of images over a fixed period and splices them together to create a movie that appears like a high-speed rendition of the action. You can use the recording settings screen items below to specify the shooting interval and the total recording time. ー Interval ー Total Time l Configuring Shooting Conditions recording mode to Time Lapse. 3. Tap the shutter button. 4. Tap OK. This starts recording. Recording stops when the time you specified with Total Time elapses. Termination of the connection between the camera and smartphone while recording is in progress will return to the app top screen. To stop an ongoing recording operation part way through, press the camera s [MOVIE] button. Shooting with the Camera or an Optional Controller While there is a wireless LAN connection between the camera and a smartphone, you can use the camera, or a remote controller or another optional controller to shoot images. 1. On the top screen while there is a wireless LAN connection between the camera and a smartphone, tap Shooting with the Camera or an Option. 2. Tap OK. You can now shoot using the camera or an optional controller. Operating the camera from the app is not possible at this time. If the only connected optional controller is a remote controller or if there is no optional controller connected with the camera, the wireless LAN connection between the smartphone and camera will be maintained. To terminate a wireless LAN connection, hold down the camera s [WLAN] button for about two seconds. To re-enable operation from the Gʼz EYE app, go to the app top screen, and then tap Camera or option shooting in progress, Shooting with the App, or Viewing Images with the App. If the connected optional controller is something other than the Remote Controller, the wireless LAN connection will be terminated. 5

6 Having Images Shot with the Camera Sent to a Smartphone Automatically After registering the camera on the app and configuring wireless LAN settings, you can configure settings so images shot with the camera are automatically sent to a 1. Play Screen (Multi Image View) If a Controller With LCD is connected with the camera, image send will start when the controller enters its sleep mode. Important! Some camera recording modes may not allow auto send of images. Auto Send cannot be enabled unless the camera is registered on the Gʼz EYE app. Both a Bluetooth wireless technology and wireless LAN connection are required between the camera and smartphone to auto send camera images. A button Returns to the top screen. B Displayed image type Use this setting to specify the type of images you want to display C Images Shows images in camera memory. D Remote Capture button Switches to the Remote Capture screen for recording of images with the camera. E Battery status Shows the camera s battery status. Images shot while the camera s Auto Send setting is On will be sent to the smartphone, even if the Auto Send setting is changed to Off before the images are sent. 6

7 Displaying Images Displaying a Single Image To change to the Single Image View of one of the images on the Play Screen (Multi Image View), tap the desired image. You can scroll through images on the Single Image View by swiping the screen left or right. F Send button Sends the image to the G Protect button Protects the image. H Rotate button Rotates the image 90 degrees right. Simple Movie Playback Tapping on the Play Screen (Single Image View) of a movie will start simple playback of the movie. Simple Movie Playback in Progress Snapshot I Battery status Shows the camera s battery status. Important! Movie A movie file sent from the camera to an iphone(ios) is saved as-is, as a MOV file. Transfer to most other noniphone(ios) terminals will normally cause the movie file to be converted to an MP4 file. If a non-iphone(ios) terminal is unable to convert a movie file to MP4 format for some reason, the movie file will be saved as-is, as a MOV file. A Back button Returns to the screen that was displayed before movie playback was started. B Stop button Returns to the screen that was displayed before movie playback was started. The icons that indicate favorited images and protected images are red. C Pause button Pauses movie playback. This button is red while playback is paused. D High-speed playback buttons Select one of the following speeds for movie playback: 1X, 2X, 4X. Audio is played back from the camera s speaker. Audio is not played back during 2X and 4X speed movie playback. A Back button Returns to the Play Screen (Multi Image View). B Details button Displays shooting information about the image. C PLAY button Starts Simple Movie Playback. D Delete button Deletes the image from camera memory. E Favorites button Adds the image to Favorites. 7

8 Multiple Image Operations 1. On the Play Screen (Multi Image View), tap of the thumbnail of the image you want to select. 2. Tap the function you want to perform on the selected image. : Deletes the image from camera memory. : Adds the image to Favorites. : Sends the image to a : Protects the image. : Rotates the image 90 degrees right. 3. Follow the instructions that appear on the screen. Configuring Camera Settings This section explains how to format camera memory and how to return the camera to its initial factory defaults. 1. Start up the app and establish a wireless LAN connection between the camera and 2. On the top screen, tap Setting. This displays the settings screen. 3. On the settings screen, tap Setting up the camera. Formatting Camera Memory If a memory card is loaded in the camera, this operation will format the memory card. If no memory card is loaded, it will format built-in memory. 1. Tap Format. 2. Tap OK twice as instructed by the text that appears on the screen. This deletes all of the contents in camera memory. Important! The format operation will delete all contents in camera memory. Formatting cannot be undone. Make sure you do not need any data currently on the card or in built-in memory before you format it. Formatting camera built-in memory or a memory card will delete all images, including protected images stored there. Confirm that the battery is sufficiently charged before starting a format operation. Formatting may not be performed correctly and the camera may stop operating normally if the camera powers down while formatting is in progress. Resetting the Camera to Factory Defaults Use the procedure below to return camera settings to their initial factory defaults. Recording Precautions Monitor Screen when Shooting Subject brightness, and communication conditions between the camera and smartphone can cause the smartphone display response to slow down, causing digital noise in the screen image. 1. 9 Troubleshooting Connect Q1 I can t establish a Bluetooth wireless technology connection between the camera and Does the smartphone support Bluetooth wireless technology? Bluetooth wireless technology is used to connect the camera with the Confirm that the smartphone you are using is Bluetooth wireless technology compatible. Move the camera away from the device causing the problem. Q2 Images are out of focus. Is the lens dirty? If the lens is dirty, clean it off. Is the camera fixed and steady when shooting? Q3 You may be moving the camera when shooting. Make sure the camera is secured in place when shooting. There is digital noise in images. Sensitivity may have been increased automatically for a dark subject, which increases the chance of digital noise. Use a light or some other means to illuminate the subject. Is the smartphone s Bluetooth turned on? Q4 I forgot my SSID and password. Q4 An image I shot was not saved. A smartphone will not be able to connect with the camera if its Bluetooth is turned off. Is the camera close enough to the smartphone? Q2 The camera cannot connect with a smartphone if they are too far apart from each other. I can t establish a wireless LAN connection between the camera and Is the smartphone configured for auto Wi- Fi connection? If the smartphone or other device has a Wi-Fi connection auto switching function (auto network switching), the function may be affecting the connection with the camera. Disable Wi-Fi connection auto switching (network auto switching) by clearing the setting s check box, etc. If you are still unable to connect... Delete the camera s SSID from the smartphone Wi-Fi settings, and then reinput it along with the required password. While holding down the camera [MOVIE] and [ /SLOW] buttons, hold down the [POWER] button for at least six seconds. Do not remove the memory card before the save operation is complete. The image is out of focus during movie recording. This could be due to any of the following reasons. Focusing may not be possible because the subject is outside the focus range. Shoot within the allowable range. The lens may be dirty. Clean the lens. A large increase in the distance between the camera and subject after recording starts can cause the image to go out of focus. 9

The file may be protected. A protected image cannot be deleted.
