1 HTC Rezound - Disassemble Guide TTT-9007 Small Phillips Screwdriver TTT-9010 Plastic Opening Tools TTT-9013 Spudger Heat Gun / Blow Dryer This guide will show you how to disassemble the HTC Rezound mobile phone, assisting in making the repair of the device both simple and inexpensive. 2 Step 1 Battery Let s begin to disassemble the HTC Rezound by removing the back cover. Insert the plastic opening tool in the notch in the front cover of the phone. Pry at this point to release the clips holding the back cover to the phone. With the back cover removed, the battery is easily accessible. Use the plastic opening tool to lift and remove the battery out of the Rezound. With the battery and rear cover removed, the SIM and MicroSD cards are easily accessible. Remove both cards from the HTC Rezound. The rear section of the case is secured by six small Phillips screws (#00), locate and remove these screws with the appropriate screwdriver. 3 Step 4 To remove the rear portion of the case, insert the plastic opening tool in the seam that goes around the perimeter of the phone. After beginning separation at the seam, the plastic clips are easily separated with a slight twist of the plastic opening tool while it is still in the seam. Work your way around the entire perimeter of the phone until the rear portion of the case is removed. The speaker assembly is attached to the rear portion of the case. It is held in place with a small amount of adhesive. Use the spudger to gently pry the speaker assembly out of its secured location and remove it from the Rezound. Three Phillips screws (#00) secure the motherboard into the body of the phone, locate and remove these three screws. Step 5 Speaker Assembly Step 6 Page 3 of 8

4 Step 7 Vibrator Motor Using the spudger, pry the vibrator motor out of its housing in the phone, and then unplug its connection from the motherboard. With the securing screws and vibrator motor removed, open the motherboard like you would a book. This will reveal two ribbon cables that are still connected to the motherboard. One is a connector for the LCD screen and the other is a connector for the touch screen. Both the LCD and touch screen ribbon cables are secured by locking sockets. Using the spudger, lift the lock on the sockets to release the cables. Remove the two cables from their sockets on the motherboard. Step 8 Step 9 Page 4 of 8

5 Step 10 With the securing screws removed and the ribbon cable connections released, lift and remove the motherboard from the body of the Rezound. The rear-facing camera is secured in a locking socket. Using the spudger, lift the lock on the socket to release the ribbon cable and remove it from the HTC Rezound. The camera flash is secured into the phone by a plug. Use the spudger to gently pry up the camera flash assembly from its plug and remove it from the Rezound. 6 Step 13 Front-Facing Camera The front-facing camera is secured into the phone by a locking socket. Using the spudger, lift the lock on the socket to release the ribbon cable and remove the camera from the HTC Rezound. The ear piece speaker is secured in its housing with a small amount of adhesive. Use the spudger to pry up and release the earpiece speaker and remove it from the Rezound. Use the heat gun/blow drier to heat the adhesive securing the touch screen to the plastic trim. 7 Step 16 The touch screen needs to be separated from the display assembly. Insert the spudger or a screwdriver, through the opening for the front facing camera, and from the back begin to push the display assembly away from the trim. When separation has started, insert the plastic opening tool in the gap and continue the separation around the perimeter of the phone. Now, the display assembly can be removed from its frame. Insert the spudger in one corner of the assembly and work your way around the display assembly until it is pushed out of its frame. Step 17 Page 7 of 8
