2 Handset Settings Manage and customize handset settings. Item Personalize Wireless & networks Call Sound & display Accounts & sync Location Description Select a scene, set Home screen or Lock screen wallpaper to use, and set the default ring tone to use for incoming calls. Configure handset wireless connections, such as Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, activate Airplane mode*, or set options for mobile networks, roaming and more. Set up call services such as Voic , Call Forwarding, Call Waiting, and caller ID. Set the phone and notification ring tones, automatic screen orientation, and set the screen brightness and screen timeout. Log in or out from your social network accounts, Google Account, and Exchange ActiveSync account. Select the sources to use when determining your location. Enable or disable the automatic backup feature of handset and reset handset. Select whether to allow or block Google from using your location when suggesting results and for other Google services. Check the available memory card and handset memory. Set the date and time, time zone, and date or time format. Set interface language or region. Set onscreen keyboard options. Item Accessibility Text-tospeech About phone Description Enable or disable preset or downloaded accessibility plugins that respond to user interaction. If you have installed a text-tospeech (voice data) application, use this option to configure the text-to-speech settings. This function is available only when locale and language is set to English. Set system software update method and view handset status such as the network type, signal strength, battery power level, and network name. Check battery use of individual applications or view the legal information and software version of handset. * Activating Airplane mode, cancels all handset transmissions, including calling, data services, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi. 19-2

Language & keyboard Select locale English or (Japanese) Optimizing Battery Life Follow these tips to extend the time between charges: Turn off wireless functions such as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and data connection when you re not using them (P.11-2, P.12-2). Avoid using GPS satellites to determine your location (P.16-2). Lower screen brightness (P.19-3). Cancel screen animations (P.2-3). Cut down on activities such as Internet browsing. Avoid making very long phone calls or using Camera for extended periods of time. Consider carrying a spare battery when you cannot charge battery for an extended period. Batteries gradually lose storage capacity over time. Consider replacing battery if you notice that battery life is decreasing Using GSM Network Outside Japan, switching to a GSM network (for anything besides data connection via the Internet) is one way to reduce battery power consumption.
