2 transfer your numbers It s quick and easy to transfer your numbers. Simply: n n n save all your contacts to your old phone s memory insert your new SIM Card into your old phone and copy or move the contacts to it then insert the new SIM Card (with all your contacts) into your new phone. did you know you can choose which contact information is shown in your All contacts list. Simply press MENU, tap View, and then select the Contact source to see those contacts.? Don t worry you won t lose your existing phone number by using your new SIM Card. to transfer contacts from SIM to phone 1 From the Homescreen, tap Contacts. 2 On the All contacts screen, press MENU and then tap Import. 3 Select the contact type, and then tap OK. 3 on the outside home button while on any screen or application, press to return to the Homescreen. menu button press this button to see what you can do on the current screen. search button on any screen, press to search for about anything on your phone and on the web. navigation control button use this button to move up, down and sideways on screens and menus. Press the center button to confirm that you want to carry out the function highlighted on the screen. Orange Homescreen By default, your phone is set to the HTC Homescreen. To switch to the Orange Homescreen, press HOME > MENU, and then tap Settings > Personalize > Home screen. 4 shortcuts from your Homescreen We have customised a number of short cuts on your Orange Homescreen so you can access them quickly on your phone. On your HTC Tattoo, you can access applications and services such as Orange World. All it takes is a tap on the icon on the Homescreen and you will be taken straight there. 5 explore the icons and widgets Tap on the Homescreen to view all icons and widgets that you can add to your Homescreen. Here are some of the icons and widgets that you can add to the Homescreen... Orange World Download ringtones and wallpapers or catch up on the latest news and information. Orange Photography View and share your photos and even set one as your Homescreen wallpaper. Messages Stay in touch with family and friends using text and photo messaging. Alarms Get organised using alarms and reminders. VIP Contact Add your favourite contacts right on the Homescreen. Calendar Stay in control of your events and appointments using the calendar. Orange Maps Enjoy turn-by-turn GPS navigation with 3D maps and voice instructions. 6 make a call Making a call is as easy as tapping Dialler on the Homescreen, dialing the number or name of the contact, and then tapping the contact you want to call from the Smart Dial list. If you re calling from abroad, add the international + symbol and the country/area code as sppropriate. 7 send a text message Text messages are a quick and easy way to keep in touch when you re on the move. Whether you need to send important news, a time to meet, or make someone smile, texts are a great way to communicate. Using predictive text (XT9) means the phone will predict the word as you enter it, so you only need to press the key once. to write a text message 1 On the Homescreen, tap Messages, and then tap Compose message. The Compose screen opens. 2 Enter the mobile phone number of the message recipient in the To field. As you enter the phone number, matching contacts will appear on the screen. Tap a recipient or continue entering the recipient s phone number. 3 Tap the text box with the Tap to compose label, and then start composing your message. While entering your message, tap: to shift between upper and lower case to insert a symbol to insert a carriage return to delete a character. 4 When you have finished entering your message, simply tap Send to send the text message. your HTC Tattoo the basics text messaging

8 Answer Phone To listen to your Answer Phone messages, tap Dialler on the Homescreen, and then press and hold the 1 key. Listen to the simple steps to save, listen to or delete messages. You should also set up an Answer Phone PIN number for added security and so that you can access your messages from another phone or from abroad: n call Answer Phone by pressing 1 n select option 3 for Answer Phone Settings and Features n select option 3 to set up your PIN and follow the simple instructions To listen to your messages from any other phone or while abroad call from any phone and enter your Orange number followed by the # key. Enter your Answer Phone PIN followed by the # key and then follow the simple instructions to listen to your messages. did you know if you set up a personal greeting, people are far more likely to leave you messages. 9 Messenger by Orange Messenger by Windows Live lets you chat to your friends, whether they re using a PC or phone. It s powered by Windows Live Messenger so you ll have access to all the great features you re used to when using Windows Live Messenger on your PC, like your contact list and Buddies. how to access Orange Messenger on your phone: 1 Press HOME, tap All, and then tap Orange Messenger. 2 Tap Sign up for a Orange Messenger by Windows Live ID to create an Orange Messenger by Windows Live account. 3 Upon connecting to the network a page appears for you to enter your address and your password before accessing the login screen. 4 Enter your address, domain, and password in the Sign in screen. 5 Check Remember my password if you wish your password to be saved for your subsequent logins. 6 You can also select the option Sign me in automatically so that you don t need to manually sign in when you launch Orange Messenger by Windows Live. 7 Tap Sign in to enter to the service. 10 Maps your personal Sat Nav system Turn-by-turn GPS navigation with 3D maps and voice instructions that announce street names. Orange Maps also includes real time traffic updates and speed camera alerts. 11 social networking Explore Facebook and Twitter on your Orange phone. Never miss out on what your mates are up to and keep them updated when you re out and about. The first time you turn on your phone, you will be given an option to set up your social networks. Your phone integrates Facebook with your contacts, so you ll know when your friends updated their Facebook profile. For Tweeter, use HTC Peep to send and receive tweets. To know if your contact has updated their Facebook 1 Press HOME, and then tap Contacts. 2 Tap a contact to open the contact details screen. 3 Slide your finger to the Updates and events tab to see your friend s updates in Facebook. how to access HTC Peep Press HOME, tap All, and then tap Peep. 13 take a photo or shoot a video Wherever you have your phone, you can now keep the moment fresh. Your phone s camera can take photos and shoot videos, recording personal moments that you can carry with you forever. You can save, send or delete these pictures or videos using your phone. to take a picture or record video 1 Press HOME, tap All, and then tap Camera if you want to capture photos or Camcorder if you want to shoot videos. 2 Frame your subject on the screen. 3 Press the ENTER button to take the shot. When recording video, press the ENTER button to start capturing video, and press ENTER again to stop. Your pictures and video clips are automatically saved in the storage card. did you know as well as recording video, you can also download your favourite clips from Orange World to watch whenever you want. 14 send a photo or video message Once you ve taken your photo or shot your video, you can share it immediately with your friends using Orange Photo Messaging or save it to your phone for later use. to send a photo or video message 1 After you have taken a photo or record a video, tap on the post-capture screen, and then tap Messages. 16 Calling Tunes Treat your friends and family to their favourite song when they call you, instead of the usual ring ring. Personalise each track for each caller, or have your favourite song played to everyone phoning you. Why not give Dad a classical tune, Granny some rock and roll and your little sister something retro. You can find Calling Tunes by searching for them on Orange World. Or by calling 477 from your Orange phone to set it up. 18 personalise your phone There are many ways in which you can personalise your phone to make it truly individual and to ensure your ringtone stands out from the crowd. Your phone has ringtones and pictures stored on it for immediate use and you can also download more from Orange World. change your ringtone 1 Press HOME > MENU, and then tap Settings. 2 Tap Sound & display > Phone ringtone. 3 Tap the ringtone you want to use, and then tap OK. The ring tone briefly plays when selected. change your Homescreen wallpaper 1 Press HOME > MENU, and then tap Wallpaper. 2 Select Wallpaper gallery-home to use preset phone wallpapers or tap Albums to use a photo that you have captured using the camera or copied to your phone as a wallpaper. 3 Select an image, and then tap Set wallpaper or Save. your HTC Tattoo make your phone your own

19 travelling abroad pay monthly Before you go, you must call Customer Services on 150 from your Orange phone or from any other phone and 1 Request roaming activation. 2 Activate Orange Answer Phone / Answer Fax on your account at least 24 hours before you leave. when you go abroad you may need to select a partner network to use 1 Press HOME > MENU, and then tap Settings. 2 Tap Wireless controls > Mobile networks > Network operators > Search networks. 20 troubleshooting soft reset A soft reset is similar to restarting a computer. Simply turn your phone off and take your battery and SIM Card out. After 10 minutes, put it back together and switch your phone on. clean the contacts on the handset and battery This procedure will remove any slight corrosion or debris and must be carried out with care. free up some memory Cleaning the handset memory until at least 2MB is free may resolve the problem.
