9 Samsung Gear S 3G the first major smartwatch with its own 3G connection, allowing it to send/receive calls and generally act as an internet connected smart device without being paired to a nearby smartphone. There s a dual core 1GHz SoC, 512MB of RAM, 4GB of storage, and a 300 mah battery which Samsung claims will give you two full days of typical usage. While the Gear S can exist on its own, Bluetooth is also available for the usual smartphone smartwatch pairing, and there s a WiFi radio on board, too. 9

10 Battery Life Both the Gear S and Gear S2 3G have 300mAh batteries. The Gear S last for days between charges, but its charging dock is also a portable power bank, so you could say that doubles the battery life. The Gear S2 3G has a battery life of 2 days with average use according to Samsung. I m not sure what they class as average use, but if you re using the watch to its full potential you ll need a recharge everyday. 10

17 Display The Gear S3 is the first model of the Gear S collection to feature Corning Gorilla Glass SR+, a material specifically designed for wearable devices to provide a tougher, more scratch resistant display. The device s 3 inch circular Super AMOLED display has a resolution of 360 x 360. Its 16 million colors, full color Always On Watch continuously shows the time rather than fading to black. The ambient light sensor helps to adjust the brightness of displayed information and works to automatically disable the Always On Watch when users can t see the screen, such as when the watch is in a pocket or a bag. Users can opt to personalize their Always On Watch with customizable, interactive watch faces. Embedded Magnetic Secure Transmission (MST) technology, which uses magnetic signals to establish a connection between the Gear S3 and a payment terminal, lets users make mobile payments through Samsung Pay. 17
