6 Getting to know your telephone Adjust audio volume (short press) Activate/deactivate loudspeaker (during a conversation) - Long press - OmniTouch 8128 WLAN Handset Mute key so that your correspondent can no longer hear you (long press) Profile button This key allows you to select a profile (volume, ring tones, vibration, key sound) or to create a new profile. Back-lit screen The screen switches off automatically after a few seconds. The display is in color for the OmniTouch 8128 WLAN Handset. The screen switches on automatically as soon as you press any key. Access MENU 'Menu ' key is used to access various functions of the set (programming, operation, etc.) 'OK' key to access the set local configuration (ringing, contrast, etc.), apply your choice. Example: to access the 'Redial' function apply your choice to access more options to correct a character entered to end a configuration or to go back to the previous page or to the idle screen Take the call Switching between calls (Broker call) - single-line terminal To lock the keypad (long press) Microphone Headset socket Customizing the telephone: Apply Navigate OmniTouch 8128 WLAN Handset 'OK' key to access the set local configuration (ringing, contrast, etc.) used to validate your choices and options while programming or configuring Navigation keys: used to navigate the menus or in a text field when entering characters. It provides access to all the local functions available on your phone. Profile (volume, ring tones, vibration, key sound) Handset settings (such as automatic key lock, display, device info) Handset connection configuration 7

8 2 Getting started Other 2.1 Installing the battery in the telephone 2.2 Charging your telephone battery Installing the battery in the telephone It is important to fully charge your phone before using it for the first time.. Connect the charger and place the telephone in the charging holder. The phone LED is orange when charging. Before inserting the battery module into the phone, make sure that its lock is in the unlocked position To remove it While maintaining the battery module in position, slip the lock to the locked position Check that the battery module is properly installed in its housing Take the phone out of the charger Slip the lock to the unlocked position Lift the battery module You can then remove the battery module Once the phone is charged (steady green), you can take the phone out of the charger. To remove the phone from the charger, you must first tilt it forward and then take it out of the charger. Rack charger 8

9 2 Getting started Battery rack charger The battery charge time is 2.5 hrs. The indicator LED on the set gives the following indications: None Switched off Green, steady Handset fully charged and in charger Green, flashing Switched on, and not in charger Orange, steady Charging Orange, flashing Low battery Red, flashing Very low battery 2.3 Switching on your telephone Your telephone is switched on Switch on (long press) Wait a few seconds (about 3s). If the display fails to light or the red LED is flashing, recharge the battery If the red LED is flashing slowly: Check that you're in a WIFI hotspot Check that the telephone is properly installed in the system (consult the PABX manager). 2.4 Switch off your phone Long press on the on/off-hook key until the confirmation pop-up appears. 10 3 Using your telephone Other 3.1 Making a call 3.4 Make a call using the personal phone book Personal directory dial directly the number for your call number required long press (Handfree) number required press the programmed key directly (# keys, '*' and 0 to 9) select the contact to call start the call Only the OmniTouch 8128 WLAN Handset allows the handsfree mode. 3.5 Redialling To make an external call, dial the outside line access code before dialling your correspondent's number. 9 is the default code for an outside line. Redialling the last number dialled (redial) last number redial For the operator, dial '0' (by default). 11 3 Using your telephone 3.7 Sending DTMF signals During a conversation you sometimes have to send DTMF signals, such as with a voice server, an automated attendant or a remotely consulted answering machine. during a conversation Send DTMF to activate The function is automatically cancelled when you hang up. 3.8 Mute, so that your correspondent cannot hear you You can hear your correspondent but he/she cannot hear you: during a conversation You cannot be heard and the 'mute' icon is shown on the set display long press You can be heard and the 'mute' icon disappears from the display long press 11

14 4 During a conversation 4.9 Prohibit/authorize reception of a new call during communication During communication, you do not want to be called by another caller: Forbid camp on Allow camp on to bar or authorize new calls during communication 4.10 Intrusion into an internal conversation Your correspondent s line is busy. 15 5 Sharing Other 5.1 Answering the general bell When the operator is absent, outside calls to the operator are indicated by a general bell. To answer: 5.3 Hunting groups Hunting group call: Certain numbers can form a hunting group and can be called by dialling the group number. If authorised, you can answer the call on your own telephone. A specific telephone within a group can always be called by using its own number. 18 6 Keep in touch Other 6.1 Diverting calls to another number (immediate diversion) display number of new messages The number can be your home, portable or car phone, voice message or an internal extension (operator, etc.). personal code Forward Display the forwarding status (active/inactive) Review consultating messages While listening to messages, you can: Immediate forward Personal directory Rewind play back the message from the start, number to be called Backward listen to the end of the message, diversion is acknowledged Pause pause while listening to the message, call by name the forwarding icon is displayed: exit Settings Forward enter the voic number, You can make calls, but only the destination number can call you. If you try to make an external call, you will be asked to enter your personnal password. 26 8 Programming your telephone Lock the keypad automatically You can configure your set so that the keypad is blocked automatically after 5, 10 or 20 seconds. Unlocking the keypad Long press 8.14 Activate/deactivate the Key tones By default the set emits a tone each time a key is pressed. To deactivate these tones: Silent choose the type of key sound 8.15 Activate/deactivate the Warning tones The warning tones inform the user of an abnormal operation (out of range, system activated or halted, etc.). To deactivate these tones: 26

27 9 Push To Talk (OmniTouch 8128 WLAN Handset) Other The Push-to-talk (PTT) feature allows your phone to operate in PTT group broadcast mode as well as in standard phone mode. The Push-To-Talk (PTT) function can be described as a group/conference call to a predefined group of members. All incoming, outgoing, missed or unanswered PTT calls are added to the call list/missed calls with a PTT text. 9.3 PTT invitation received as message Accept or reject the PTT invitation 9.1 Push To Talk (PTT) Group call PTT invitation received as incoming call The calls are made in half-duplex communication using the Push To Talk button as a momentary switch button. While one user talks (and the PTT button is pressed) the others can listen. The microphone is active when the PTT button is pressed down and on mute when the PTT button is released. Start a PTT group call Depending on the configuration, the handset may accept the invitation automatically keep the PTT button pressed press the PTT button Once a member tries to call the other members of the PTT Group by pressing the PTT button, the others receive an invitation to participate on their phone. The user can also send a message (as text message) to invite others to join the discussion. If the user declines the PTT invitation, they can rejoin the PTT Group later on Close the PTT invitation Once invitation accepted 9.2 PTT invitation received as incoming call Accept or reject the PTT invitation Rejoin a PTT group from an invitation message PTT invitation received as incoming call select the invitation message Depending on the configuration, the handset may accept the invitation automatically Close the PTT invitation Once invitation accepted Rejoin a PTT group from an incoming call invitation call select the PTT group 27
