1 This installation is to be performed only by certified Sierra Wireless AirLink distributors. If it is performed by anyone other than the certified AirLink distributor, the terms of the warranty agreement are void. This is a step-by-step guide for installing the following X-Cards in an AirLink GX Series device: Dual Ethernet X-Card Wi-Fi X-Card Serial I / O X-Card You are modifying sensitive electronic equipment and your body may be charged with static electricity. This charge could discharge through electronic components you handle, possibly destroying your electronic equipment. Proper ESD protocol must be used before modification of any electronic equipment. Please make sure you are properly grounded (using a grounding strap). Note: These instructions assume that the SIM Card (if required) is already installed. If you need to install the SIM Card as part of this procedure, refer to the AirLink GX Series Hardware User Guide for instructions. Required tools: 2 mm Allen (hex) wrench or a #1 Phillips screwdriver, depending on the screw type used on the black decorative cover Torx screwdriver (size T20) Small adjustable torque wrench (Serial I / O and Wi-Fi X-Cards only) 4 mm nut driver or socket that works with the torque wrench (Serial I/O X-Card only) 8 mm (5/16'') socket, long enough to fit over the SMA antenna connector (Wi-Fi X-Card only) Preparing the GX device Table 1 shows the minimum GX device requirements for installing an X-Card. Sierra Wireless recommends that you update to the latest version of ALEOS before installing the X-Card. To determine the ALEOS version and boot version, power up the device, log in to ACEmanager, and go to Status > About. Table 1: Minimum GX device requirements for X-Card installation Requirement Dual Ethernet X-Card Wi-Fi X-Card I / O X-Card ALEOS version or later or later or later Boot version or later or later or later 2014 Sierra Wireless.
