SAR (Specific Absorption Rate) information This mobile phone is SAR accredited adheres to international quality benchmarks and safety measures concerning the harmful impact of radiations. It complies with applicable safety requirements for exposure to radio waves. The radio waves exposure guidelines employ a unit of measurement called Specific Absorption Rate (SAR). SAR is a measure of the rate at which energy is absorbed by the body when exposed to a radio frequency (RF). SAR is usually averaged either over the whole body, or over a small sample volume (typically 1g or 10g of tissue). The recommended SAR limit for a mobile handset is 1.6 W/Kg averaged over a volume containing a mass 1g of human tissue. 8

9 SAR Value Your phone is designed not to exceed the limits of emission of radio waves recommended by international guidelines. SAR (Specific Absorption Rate) is the measurement of body-absorbed RF quantity when the phone is in use. SAR value is ascertained according to the highest RF level generated during laboratory tests. The SAR value of the phone may depends on factors such as proximity to the network tower, use of accessories. 15 2. Installing the SIM cards, memory card and battery Please make sure that you always turn off the power installing or replacing the SIM card, memory card and battery. You need to remove the back cover for installing the SIM cards, memory card and battery. 2.1 To remove the back cover Make sure your device is turned off. Firmly hold the device with both hands and the front panel facing down. Use your fingernail to remove the back cover from left lower corner side. 15

16 2.2 To install SIM cards Please note that AASAAN 3 is a dual SIM dual standby handset and that you can either use 2 SIMs or only 1 SIM, which depends on the user. Remove the battery if it is installed. Locate the SIM card slots and then insert the SIM card with the gold contacts facing down and its cut-off corner facing out the card slot. Push the SIM card completely into the slot. 2.3 To install memory card The memory card is used as external memory for storing data, usually multimedia. AASAAN 3 supports expandable memory up to16 GB. 16

17 Remove the battery if it is installed. Locate the memory card slot. Slide it backwards and it will unlock. You can insert the memory card and then slide it again this time in opposite direction so that it gets locked again. Your memory card is ready for use. 2.4 To Place the Battery Align the battery s exposed copper contacts with the battery connectors at the top part of the battery compartment. Insert the contacts side of the battery first and then gently push the battery into place. 2.5 Note 17

18 Your device comes with a rechargeable Lithium-ion battery and is designed to use only manufacturer-specified original batteries and accessories. Battery performance depends on many factors, including network configuration, signal strength and usage patterns. Warning: To reduce risk of fire or burns: Do not use your phone while charging. Do not attempt to open, disassemble or service the battery pack. Do not crush, puncture, short external contacts or dispose of in fire or water. Do not expose to temperatures above 60 C (140 F). Replace only with the battery pack designated for this product. 18

19 Recycle or dispose of used battery as stipulated by local regulations. 2.6 Charging the battery New batteries are shipped partially charged. Before you start using your device, it is recommended that you install and charge the battery. Some batteries perform best after several full charge/discharge cycles. Note: Only the AC adapter provided with your device must be used to charge the device. Connect the USB connector of the AC adaptor to the sync connector on your device, and then plug in the AC adaptor to an electrical outlet to start charging the battery. As the battery is being charged while the device is on, a charging icon appears on the 19

20 title bar of the home screen. After the battery has been fully charged, a full battery icon appears in the title bar of the home screen. Warning: Do not remove the battery from the device while you are still charging it using AC or car adapter. Do not use your phone while charging As a safety precaution, the battery stops charging before it overheats. 2.7 Starting up the device Power on/off: To turn off the handset, press and hold the End key ( ). Then, to power it on, again 20

21 repeat the same, press and hold End key, the handset starts. Meeting mode: To set the handset on silent mode Additional Keys 1. Volume Up & Down: This side key (+ & - ) helps you to set the volume level while listening to songs, FM Radio, watching videos or calling. You can set the volume level as per your need. The + sign indicates that you can increase the volume level using this key and the sign indicates that you can decrease the volume level using this key. 2. FM Radio On & Off: Using this dedicated side key you can have access to wireless FM and you can turn it on or off by short press it. 21

22 3. Torch On & Off: Using this dedicated key you can power on or off the LED flash light (torch) inbuilt in the handset. You can turn it on or off by using long press it. 4. Keypad Lock & Unlock: Using this side key you can directly lock or unlock the keypad without using the keypad buttons. You just have to slide the key up and down to lock and unlock. 4. 25 3.1 Contacts A. Add new contact: A-1 To add a new contact; please select the option Add new contact top of the screen. A-2: Select the option where you want to save the new contact either in SIM card or in Phone. A-3: If you select the SIM you will get two options Name on Contact only, you can write the name of contact number there. A-4: If you select the Phone, you will get Name, Number, Caller picture & Caller Ringtone, You can write name, number, set 25

26 picture for Caller & also set the individual caller ringtone there for your special one. B. Contacts settings Contact settings can also be edited in this Menu. The options include: B-1 Preferred storage: Let you select where do you want to save the contacts by default, SIM1, SIM2 or phone memory. B-2 Speed Dial: You can set the speed dial on or off & can set your favorite number on 2 to 9 keys. This function helps you to dial the number, for Ex. If you set your daughter number on 2 Key, & keep the Speed Dial status on. After that you want to dial to your daughter from contact list. Just do a long press on 2 Key it will start dialing to your daughter number directly. 26

27 B-3 My number: In this option you can add your personal contact number and all other contact details like office and home contact number and address. B-4 Extra numbers: They contain the fixed dial numbers. If you assign numbers to this service and activate it, you can only call the numbers you have set here and no other number. B-5 Memory status: Shows how much of the assigned phone memory and SIM memory has been used and how much is left for use. B-6 Copy contacts: You can copy contacts from SIM to phone memory and vice versa. B-7 Move contacts: You can move contacts from SIM to phone memory and vice versa. 27

28 B-8 Delete all contacts: You can delete the contacts from SIM memory or phone memory from here. B-9 Export: You can export your contact backup to memory card B-10 Import: You can get restore your Contact backup from memory card. 3.2 Messages Send & receive text messages Main Menu > Press Down arrow key >you will get Messages. 28

29 Select whether you want to create SMS For SMS enter Text message, there are different options available for SMS like Sending options, Input menu and more. 1. Write message: Write here the message that you have to send. You can draft & send text message in English or Hindi. 2. Inbox: Press Inbox to view the received messages, open selected message and press options to Reply, Forward, Delete the selected message and more. 3. Drafts: You can edit the saved message for you or for sending it later. 4. Outbox: The message failed to be sent will be saved in outbox. 29

30 5. Sent messages: All the messages sent from your phone will be saved in the sent items. 6. Broadcast messages: Broadcasts are messages that you can send to all of your subscribers, or a group of subscribers, at once. 7. SMS Backup: Backup your SMS to Memory card 8. SMS import: Import your SMS from memory card 7. Templates: These are short messages that are already present in the handset to be edited and then send. 30

31 8. Message settings: This option allows you to change the settings of the text messages and the service messages. Text messages: In this option you can select the settings for both SIM1 an SIM2, which are the same. This includes settings like profile selection, voic server selection and common settings like the delivery report and reply path of message and whether we want to save it or not. Also, it shows the memory status, preferred storage and the preferred connection. 31

32 3.3 Call History View the Received, Dialled and Missed Calls Go to Menu>Press the Down Arrow key. This is the third option in Main Menu 1. Missed calls: To view the missed call details. 2. Dialled calls: You can view the time & duration of all the calls you have made (outgoing). 32

33 3. Received calls: You can view the time & duration of the calls that you received in your phone. 4. Delete call history: You can delete all call logs details. 5. Call timers: You can view the duration of your calls. 6. SMS counter: You can see how many text messages you sent or received in SIM1 and SIM Multimedia 33

34 1. File manager: This shows the details of the external memory card. All the files and applications are present here. You can view the files, copy them, move them and perform many other functions here. You can format the whole memory card; it will erase all the data of memory card. 2. Camera: It has Digital camera with zoom. This function enables you to take the picture you want. Roll the phone to align the camera to the picture and then press camera key (the camera key is the same as calling key, you will find the camera indication also on that key). Use Up arrow key to zoom in and Down arrow key to zoom out respectively.the picture will be stored in the default set path. On the camera interface you get Settings which let you select shutter sound, EV, contrast, self- 34

35 time, Screen mode, White balance, Delay timer and continuous shot up to 5 shots. 3. Image viewer: You can view the pictures in the list. If you select one picture, you can use several options like View, Browse style to see the photos in different views, Send, Use as, Rename, Delete and more. 4. Video Recording: This function enables you to take videos you want. Use 2 buttons to start the video. On the video interface, you get Settings which let you select EV, Night Mode, Anti-Flicker, White balance and effect settings. 5. Video player: You can view all the videos in the list. If you select one video, there are several options available like Play, Delete and more. 35

37 8. FM Radio: This device presents radio function. Using this you can play/record FM channels. 4/ 6 key press: Previous channel and Next channel respectively. 5 key press: Switch on/off FM. * Key press: Decrease volume # Key press: Increase volume 3.5 Alarm Set your Wakeup Time Go to Menu>Press the down Arrow key. This is the fifth option in Menu 37

38 Set the Alarm time and it will remind you by alert tone or vibration when the alarm rings. You can set maximum up to 5 Alarms in the Phone at the most. The alarm will ring even when the phone is switched off. 3.6 Organizer Calendar, World clock, Calculator & Torch Go to Menu> Press the down arrow key. This is the sixth option in Menu 38

39 1. Calendar: Manage your personal life and business affairs with the help of calendar. You can view details of any events on selected date, View Calendar in monthly view and many more options. Public holidays like Republic Day (26th Jan), Independence day (15th Aug), Gandhi Jayanti (2nd Oct) etc have been listed also. New feature in this is you can now see the Panchangan as well where you can see Tithi and Paksha, month and year according to Hindu calendar. 2. Torch: You can use this function for on-off torch light. 3. Calculator: You can do many calculations on your handset like 39

40 addition, subtraction, multiplication, division. 4. EBook Reader: Read your TXT file from memory card in your phone. 5. Stop Watch: Enjoy the stop watch. Set the target time with Typical stop watch & nway Stop watch mode. 6. World Clock: You can now see the actual time of any city of the world using World Maps. It specifies the date and time. Time is also given according to GMT (+ or -). 40

41 3.7 Settings Customize all important Settings of phone Go to Menu> Press the down arrow key. This is the seventh option in Menu 1. Dual SIM settings: Asks you whether you want to keep both SIM1 and SIM2 open or only 1 SIM open, i.e., whether you want to keep both the SIMs in active mode or only 1 out of the 2 SIM cards as active for functioning. 41

42 2. Phone settings: Customize the Common Settings a. Time and Date: You can set home city, time and date here and change the format in which they will be displayed to you. b. Languages: The languages supported on this handset are English and Hindi. English is set as default language, but you can change it to Hindi using manual settings. c. Preferred input method: The mode you want to use for input purpose like English, Hindi or numeric. d. Display: How your screen looks like when you are not using the mobile. It includes the wallpaper, Screen saver, Power ON/OFF animation, whether or not 42

43 you want to show date and time on the screen and the LCD backlight. e. Dedicated keys: Set up a shortcut path to access the applications on the up and down key. Also, there are dedicated keys on the handset like Camera key, Torch key, FM key and SOS key. 3. Call settings: It includes SIM1 call settings, SIM2 call settings and advanced settings. SIM1 and SIM2 settings are same and they include the following options. a. Call Waiting: After you choose Activate, the mobile phone will contact the network. A moment later, the network will make a response and send a message to 43

44 acknowledge your operation. If the call waiting function is activated, the network will alert you and the mobile phone screen will display the incoming call number if others are calling you while you are already on the conversation. You can also check the current status of the call waiting using check status option. b. Call divert: When call divert function is started, you can transfer the incoming call to voic or other phone number according to the scheduled Call divert conditions available in your phone. c. Call barring: All outgoing calls, incoming calls, roaming incoming calls can be restricted using this option. d. Line switching: Switch to Line1 or Line2.By default, Line1 is used. 44

45 Note: If you choose Line2, dialing may fail. This depends on the implementation of the network operator. Advanced Call Settings: They contain the following options. a. Blacklist: After you save a contact or any phone number in blacklist, that number cannot call you. c. Auto Redial: It helps you when you are calling continually to particular number, it will dial automatically again. d. Call time reminder: It will give you single or periodic reminders about the active call time. e. Auto quick end: You can end your call automatically after a certain period of time. 45

46 f. Reject by SMS: If you select this option then when you will reject any call that contact will receive a predefined message from your side. g. Answer Mode: You can choose a key to receive call by Any Key or whenever you are on headset mode the call will be received automatically. h. Connected on Vibrate: When you dial call to someone & the opposite side person when receive your call, you come to know the notification of vibrate, as the opposite side person has received the call. 4. Network Settings: You can detect your SIM card here, & can set the APN & other GPRS network settings. Also select the Network mode selection here. 46

47 5. Connectivity: a. Services: You can use your SIM Tool Kit, SIM card online feature here like ringtone, score update news etc. b. Bluetooth: Send and Receive data wirelessly with other Bluetooth Devices nearby you. With Bluetooth you can communicate with other compatible devices through wireless Bluetooth connection. Compatible devices may include: Mobile phones, Personal computers, Bluetooth headsets etc. Via Bluetooth you can send or receive files. Power: Select power to activate Bluetooth and Power off to deactivate Bluetooth. 47

48 Visibility: You can choose from ON or OFF.If the Bluetooth visibility is in OFF mode then your device is not visible to other devices while searching. My Device: Search new devices nearby you. Search audio device: Searches for new devices and shows their name. My Name: Shows the name of the device by which it is visible to other devices. Advanced: Here, you can choose the audio path, mange the storage of files and the device address in my address. 6. Profiles: Set your Phones Alert Types, tones and more. 48

49 User profiles define how your phone reacts when you receive a call or a message, how your keypad sounds when you press the keypad and more. Each of the available profiles can be left at their default setting or customized to suit the user s needs. Select and customize the most suitable profile for your situation. The available modes are General, Silent, Meeting, Outdoor, Earphone. 7. Security settings a. SIM security (Same for both SIM1 and SIM2) (Protect Your SIM Card) Set PIN code for your SIM card. 49

50 Note: After three consecutive incorrect PIN code entries, the code will be blocked, and you need the PUK code to unblock it. To obtain the PUK code, please contact your Network provider. b. Phone security (Protect Your Phone) The phone lock code may be set to prevent your mobile phone from being misused. The initial phone lock code is set to by the manufacturer. You can change and set your own password. c. Auto keypad lock (Locks keypad) Automatically locks the keypad after the handset is inactive for a particular duration of time which you can set. d. Mobile Tracker 50

51 (Can get back your stolen phone) Set your nearest person number in Mobile Tracker & keep the status on, in future if you have misplace or stolen your mobile by anyone & if he remove your SIM card & insert his SIM card in your phone, then you will get on SMS on your define number, with that contact number you can trace out your mobile. To set please insert or 1122 password. 8. Restore factory settings Reset your all Phone settings with password This function allows you to reset most of the phone settings to the original settings. The phone password is needed to access this function. The default password is

52 3.8 AASAAN 1. Medicine Reminder There are 4 steps decided as per general medicine time Breakfast, Lunch Dinner & Sleep. In every option you can set your daily medicine time there. It will be POP on screen & play the ringtone on that time. It will never miss your medicine. 2. Hearing Aid: 52

53 This is very special feature for those who are near to deaf or who cannot listen the voice / noise easily. You can use the bundled earphone for this. Please do connect the earphone to your phone completely, & insert the both 2 earphone earpiece in your ear well & switch on the application by left soft key. The phone s mic is settled under the keypad 9 key. You can give your phone with whom you want to talk, that person(speaker) should hold the phone in 53

54 his hand & start the talking to keep his mouth nearby phone after that you will able to hear clearly. 3. Reminder / Task: You can add specific tasks, note as reminder and state the priority. You can set the date & time, at that time this application will help you to remind your forgotten things on time. 4. Magnifier: This new feature is introduced so, the person who cannot able to read the small fonts lines, sentences. You can take a help of this applications. Please on this application, hold & keep the phone on what matter you want to read like books or newspaper, you are able to view the fonts through this applications. You can zoom it by up navigation key, to make the object larger. 54

55 5. SOS setting SAVE OUR SOUL What is SOS? The term SOS actually does not stand for anything and is not an abbreviation. Earlier, the term SOS was used in reference to the words Save Our Ship or Save Our Souls. It is the commonly used description from the Morse code distress signal. Later it became the universal signal for sending emergency signals for when a person is in distress. How it works? SOS is an important feature of the AASAAN 3 handset. The SOS slider key is provided on the right side in Orange colour of the handset when facing you. Activation of the SOS key (sliding the key upwards), results 55

56 in a siren which helps alert the people nearby. Simultaneously, the iball AASAAN 3 Senior Phone starts calling to 5 predefined numbers one after the other. If the call remains unanswered, the entire loop gets repeated three times. Even if a contact disconnects the call, the loop goes on. The loop stops only when a call is answered. Following that, an SMS is automatically sent to only those numbers which you have chosen from the 5 predefined numbers. SOS settings. SOS SMS content: Using this option, you can change the contents of the SOS SMS. Select the object of SMS: You can use this option if you want to send an SOS SMS to only some selected numbers from the 5 56

57 predefined numbers that you have chosen for SOS number settings. Call waiting Time: Here, you can decide if you want to start the callings immediately after the siren stops ringing or after some time. M1 & M2 is use for speed dial on special keys Star & Hash. You can set the favourite persons number on this. When you do long press on star or hash key it will start calling directly. Advantages of SOS Considering the unsafe environment and the life in city fraught with the unfortunate eventualities, incidents we have implemented a special utility feature the SOS key in our AASAAN 3 handset. There are a lot of women who work till late or in less inhabited areas, children who go out for tuition classes besides senior citizens living 57

58 alone. This feature is beneficial to all of them. 6. Speed Dial: You can set the speed dial on or off & can set your favorite number on 2 to 9 keys. This function helps you to dial the number, for Ex. If you set your daughter number on 2 Key, & keep the Speed Dial status on. After that you want to dial to your daughter from contact list. Just do a long press on 2 Key it will start dialing to your daughter number directly. Set Speed dial on STAR & HASH key: You can also set the number on star & Hash key. Preferred number setting: M1 & M2 is there. You need to set the numbers for speed dial which will detect on Star & Hash Key accordingly. You will get this option in SOS settings. 58
