2 Basic Call Handling Place a Call 1. Lift the handset. 2. a Line key, or press. 3. Dial the number on the keypad and press. End a Call Place the handset on the cradle, or press. Answer a Call Lift the handset, press the Line key, or press. Ignore a Call when the phone is ringing to ignore the incoming call and send the incoming call directly to voice mail (if configured). Redial once to access a list of recently dialed numbers. and to scroll through the entries. to redial the selected number. twice to call the last dialed number. Mute to mute the handset, headset, or speakerphone. Hold/Resume 1. To place a call on hold, press while on a call. 2. To resume the call, press again, or press the Line key corresponding to the line where the call is being held. 2
3 Advanced Call Handling The 6865 SIP phone provides simple and convenient methods for transferring calls and establishing conference calls. Call Transfer 1. while on an active call to place the call on hold. 2. Dial the number of the party to whom you want to transfer the call. 3. before the receiving party answers to perform a blind transfer. -OR- Wait until the party answers and then press to complete the transfer. 3-Way Conferencing 1. while on an active call. This places the call on hold. 2. Select Services > Conference. 3. Dial the number of the other party, or press the Line key where the other party is being held. 4. When the other party answers, press again. 3
4 Customization Adjust Volume during a call to adjust the volume of the audio device handset, headset, or speaker phone. ing these keys when the phone is idle adjusts the ringer volume. Select a Ring Tone 2. Select Preferences > Tones > Ring Tone. 3. and to scroll through the list of ring tones. 4. or to set the selected ring tone. Change Screen Language 2. 5 Other Features Use the Callers List 1. to access the Callers List. 2. and to scroll through the list. 3. to place a call to the selected caller. Lock/Unlock the Phone The 6863i IP phone can be locked to prevent unauthorized use. Only numbers defined under the Emergency Dial Plan can be dialed when the phone is locked. Lock Unlock 2. Select Phone Lock. The Lock the phone? prompt displays on the screen. 3. to lock the phone. The Phone is locked message displays on the screen. 2. Enter your password. 3. to unlock the phone. Change Your User Password 2. Select Password. 3. Enter your current password and press. 4. Enter the new password and press. 5. Confirm the new password by entering it again. 6.. The Password Changed message displays on the screen. Viewe Your Phone s IP Address 1. to view your phone s IP address. 2. Select Phone Status > IP&Mac Addresses. 5
