Chapter 1: Introducing the Integration This section contains the following topics: Overview (see page 7) Live Health Integration (see page 8) Professional Services (see page 9) Overview ehealth - OpenView Integration (ehealth - OpenView) lets you access ehealth reporting features directly from OpenView NNM interfaces as follows: OpenView NNM map interface-lets you link to the ehealth Web interface and run At-a-Glance and Trend reports on objects in your network that both ehealth and OpenView NNM monitor. OpenView NNM Alarm Categories window-lets you access an ehealth Alarms Browser window and run At-a-Glance reports, Trend reports, and Live Trend charts for ehealth alarms. The eehalth - OpenView integration includes some of the features of Live Health. Live Health is an ehealth product that provides real-time fault, performance, and availability management for ehealth components. (Live Status, an application within Live Health, resides on the ehealth system but is not integrated with OpenView.) Live Health reporting features let you monitor statistics elements that ehealth is polling. Chapter 1: Introducing the Integration 7

Live Health Integration The following diagram illustrates the ehealth components that must reside on the ehealth system and the components that must reside on the OpenView NNM system to enable you to use all of the functionality that this integration module provides. Live Health Integration The Live Health suite of applications includes Live Exceptions, Live Status and Live Trend. These applications reside on the ehealth system and are enabled when the ehealth administrator adds a Live Health license to the ehealth system. The ehealth administrator uses the Live Exceptions application to send traps and alarms to the OpenView NNM system. The OpenView NNM administrator must download the Live Health client software from the ehealth system, and install it on the OpenView NNM system. You can then link to the Live Trend application and create charts that monitor statistics elements that ehealth is polling. If you are running multiple ehealth systems in your infrastructure, you must download the Live Health client software from the same ehealth system that is sending traps and alarms to your OpenView NNM system. Note: For more information about Live Health, see the ehealth Help. 8 User Guide

Chapter 4: Reports This section contains the following topics: Live Trend Charts (see page 29) At-a-Glance Reports (see page 31) Trend Reports (see page 32) Live Trend Charts Live Trend is a real-time charting tool for monitoring statistics elements polled by ehealth. It identifies affected elements to view performance patterns for your IT infrastructure and helps you determine the nature of a failure or slowdown by monitoring multiple variables in real time. It also lets you monitor continuous real-time performance to determine whether your corrective action is working. You can use Live Trend charts to plot the following: Element trends - A single element with multiple variables, which can indicate element problems and their possible causes. Variable trends - A single variable for multiple elements, which can highlight problems, such as response time, for multiple elements. Chapter 4: Reports 29

Live Trend Charts The following example shows a Live Trend chart for a critical alarm: Note: For more information about Live Health, see the ehealth Help. 30 User Guide

At-a-Glance Reports At-a-Glance Reports At-a-Glance reports are summaries of key performance indicators for a chosen element. They let you examine several parameters at the same time to identify the source of a problem. For example, once a Top N report shows you that the total number of bytes on a port is extremely low, you can drill down to an At-a-Glance report that shows you all of the performance indicators on that port. This can help you identify the source of the poor performance. The following is an example of an At-a-Glance report: Note: For more information about running reports, see the ehealth Reports User and Administration Guide and the ehealth Help. Chapter 4: Reports 31

Trend Reports Trend Reports Trend reports provide summaries about a device and any or all of its elements. You can generate a Trend report for up to 10 variables for one element, or for one variable for up to 10 elements. Using a Trend report you can identify the best or worst performers of all of the elements on a switch, or you can identify busy or peak usage times on a switch. With this information you can target the times of day that you should monitor key performance indicators and examine usage trends. The following is an example of a Trend report: Note: For more information about Trend reports, see the ehealth Help and the ehealth Reports User and Administration Guide. 32 User Guide
