3 Thank You for Reviewing Our App Thanks for taking the time to review our app. This Reviewer s Guide will walk you through the brief process of creating an account and having an online doctor visit. Don t worry about disturbing our doctors (and don t feel like you have to pretend to be sick... as if you re playing hookie), they are aware that, from time to time, people request consults with them just to test the app. About American Well Going to the doctor isn t fun. It s hard to find a doctor you like, it s hard to make an appointment, and it s hard to take time away from your life to actually get there. American Well was created to make this whole process easier. With online video visits, board-certified doctors can treat, diagnose and even prescribe. For more information on the company, visit The AmWell Experience American Well s mobile app, AmWell gives people access to doctors from anywhere on smartphone, tablet or computer 24/7/365. AmWell will work over 3G/4G, but, like other video services, we recommend using wifi for the best possible experience. The app can be used on most ios and Android devices (see Appendix for a list of supported devices). To see a doctor, you simply download the free app from the Apple App Store or Google Play and receive immediate access to qualified doctors in the palm of your hand. App Reviewer s Guide Page 1

4 Create an Account Signing up is easy just create a passcode and enter a few pieces of basic information. It s much faster than filling out a paper form in the doctor s office. The best part? Once you do it, your information is saved. You ll be asked to select your state where you re currently located so we can show you the doctors who are licensed and available in that state. Don t worry though, you can always change the state you re in by going to the Settings tab. That way if you catch a cold while kayaking in Maine, or get stung by a stingray in California, we ve got you covered. Just let us know where you are and we ll show you who is available. That s it! And now that you ve done it once, your information is stored safely and securely for future uses. The only thing you ll have to do next time is enter your passcode when you open the app. Choose a Doctor (Seriously, It s Up to You) One of the best features of AmWell is that you have the choice of who you want to see have you ever been able to choose your doctor at urgent care? Welcome to the beauty of mobile medical care. You ll see the doctors available in your state, their education, years of experience, specialty, cost of the visit, and how other patients rate their webside manner. Review as many of the doctors profiles as you d like. Once you ve found a doctor you like, just tap Select Provider. App Reviewer s Guide Page 2

5 AmWell is for Kids, Too If going to your doctor s office is rough, going to your child s pediatrician s office can be much worse, nevermind if you have to go to urgent care or the ER in the middle of the night. The app will easily allow you to add your children to your account. If this visit is for your child, you ll be able to add their information on the next screen after you ve selected a doctor. It s important to set up a separate profile for each child so that their health information and prescriptions are in the correct name. One Last Thing Before you start your visit, we just need a couple of pieces of information for the doctor to review your request: What you d like to discuss The pharmacy you want a prescription sent to if the doctor prescribes one 1 Your phone number in case you get disconnected 1 Please note that prescribing is not available in all 50 states due to state regulatory restrictions. Payment and Insurance The cost of your visit is based on the information you supplied. Depending on your benefits, the visit may be covered by your insurance or your employer. Choose health plan from the drop-down menu. If yours is not listed leave blank. If you have a co-pay, you can pay with a credit card or debit card, including flexible spending and health savings account cards. For this review, please enter code APPREVIEW for a free visit. 6 Virtual waiting room When you enter the virtual waiting room, we ll let you know how many patients are in front of you, if any. No more guessing. But there are no old magazines. They ll have to wait for a future release. As the queue moves, we ll let you know where you stand. But have no fear, our average wait time is just two minutes. The doctor will see you now When your visit begins, you ll be able to see the doctor on-screen. Initially, you ll see both yourself and the doctor but you can always expand the doctor s video to full screen by double-tapping the doctor s video area. Talk to the doctor just as you normally would he or she can see and hear you, and is ready to help with any health concerns you have. During the visit, the doctor can treat, diagnose and even prescribe for a variety of conditions. When your conversation is over, tap the End button to finish up and review your visit summary. If your time is running low, the doctor can elect to extend the conversation for a couple of minutes in order to complete the visit. On average, our visits last just under ten minutes. 7 Congratulations You ve Just Finished Your Very First Online Doctor Visit. We take transparency just as seriously as we take simplicity. At the end of your visit, you can view a detailed summary of what happened, including the doctor s notes, prescriptions, diagnoses, and follow-up suggestions. If a prescription was written, it will be sent electronically to the pharmacy you chose. When was the last time you left the doctor s office with legible notes about your diagnosis and treatment, and your prescription already at the pharmacy? We re guessing never. One last thing. We also take care continuity very seriously. That s industry speak for: Make sure your regular doctor knows what s going on. We ll you a visit summary that you can share with your doctor it s good practice to keep him or her in the loop.
