3 Setting Up Your Gear S Step 1. Charging the Gear S 1. Carefully place the Gear S on the charging dock with the charging terminals facing each other. Charging dock with battery Charging Port Charging terminals Caution! Use the Samsung charger that came with your device. Use of other chargers may damage the device and void the warranty.

4 2. Plug in the charger. 3. When finished charging, disconnect the Gear S from the charging dock. NOTE: The charging dock can be used as a backup charger, simply connect it to your Gear S (no cable needed). The charging dock automatically charges while the Gear S is charging or can be charged independently without the Gear S.

5 Step 2: Turning Your Gear S On and Off To turn ON, press and hold the Power/Home key. To turn OFF, press and hold the Power/Home key and tap Power off.

6 Wearing the Gear S 1. Release the clasp and fit the strap to your wrist. 2. Use the pin to adjust the length of the strap. 2 1 Pin 3. Press the clasp together to fasten the strap.

7 Connection Pairing your Gear S to a smartphone 1. Gear S: Make sure your Gear S is turned on. 2. Smartphone: Download the Samsung Gear Manager app from the Galaxy Essential widget. 3. Smartphone: Turn on Bluetooth. 4. Smartphone: Select the Gear S model name. 5. Smartphone: When the Bluetooth pairing request window appears, tap OK. 6. Gear S: When the connection window appears, tap OK. 7. Smartphone: Tap Finish. NOTE: If your device does not display the Galaxy Essentials widget, download the Gear Manager app from Samsung Galaxy apps or go to apps.samsung.com/gear to download.

8 Connection modes Connected via Bluetooth The Gear S is connected to the smartphone by Bluetooth. The Gear S will receive notifications and calls from the connected smartphone and can use all of the Gear and Gear Manager functions. Connected remotely* The Gear S is not connected to the smartphone via Bluetooth, but is still connected to the smartphone via the wireless network. The Gear S will receive notifications and calls from the smartphone and have limited access to Gear Manager functions. Gear only* The Gear S is not connected to the smartphone, and is operating as a standalone device. The Gear S will only send and receive notifications and calls from the Gear S phone number. *Data rates may apply.

9 Connection Settings 1. Gear S: From the home screen, swipe up from the bottom of the display. 2. Gear S: Tap Settings > Connections. Bluetooth Bluetooth: Check box to turn Bluetooth on. BT headset: Search for Bluetooth headsets and connect them to the Gear S. Make visible: Set the Gear S to appear in other devices lists when they search for Bluetooth devices.

11 Mobile networks Use mobile networks: Set mobile network options. Mobile data: Enable/disable mobile data connections. Data roaming: Use data connections when roaming. Roaming network: Set roaming network options (home network only or automatic). Wi-Fi Connect the device to a Wi-Fi network to update news and weather when in standalone mode. 1. Tap Wi-Fi to enable Wi-Fi. 2. Tap Wi-Fi networks, tap a network name and enter the password (if prompted). 3. Tap Done to connect.

12 Airplane mode Turn off calls and messaging functions and Mobile data and connectivity funtions such as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Data Usage Keep track of your data usage amount. Location Set the Gear S to allow apps to use your current GPS location.

Home Screen Press the Power/Home key at anytime to return to the home screen. Moments Bar From the clock screen swipe the screen down to view the notification panel.

Quickly forward calls, adjust volume, display brightness and Do not disturb feature. Opening the Apps screen From the home screen, drag the screen upwards from the bottom edge to open the Apps screen.

14 Returning to the previous page While using an app, drag the screen down to return to the previous page. Viewing Widgets From the home screen, drag the screen to the left to view widgets.

15 Viewing Notifications From the home screen, drag the screen to the right to view notifications. Double Tap Double tap any screen with two fingers to view display brightness, volume controls and battery strength.

16 Calls Making a call Open the Apps screen, tap Phone, enter a number to dial, and then tap. NOTE: If a Bluetooth connection between the Gear S and smartphone is not available, outgoing calls will be made from the Gear S phone number. Forwarding calls to the Gear Set the smartphone to forward incoming calls to the Gear S. Ensure that the Gear is connected to the smartphone to enable call forwarding. 1. From the Apps screen, tap Settings Call Call forwarding. 2. Tap Turn on Yes OK.

17 Messages Sending a Message 1. From the Apps screen, tap Messages. 2. Tap More Options g Compose. 3. Enter a recipient phone number or tap to add from contacts. 4. Enter your message and tap. Viewing a Message 1. From the clock screen, drag the screen to the left to view notifications. 2. Tap Messsages and scroll up to veiw your messages. 3. To reply to a message, tap. 4. Enter your message and tap to send.

18 Notifications 1. Using your smartphone, from the home screen tap Apps Samsung Gear Notifications. 2. Slide the Notification slider to the right to turn it on. 3. Tap Manage notifications to select which alerts will display on your Gear S.

19 Customize Using your smartphone, from the home screen tap Apps Samsung Gear Home screen styler. Tap the Wallpapers tab to change the look of the home screen. Tap the Clock tab to change the look of the clock.
