4 How To Earn The CHARTER CFA Exam Topic Area Weights 1. Become a CFA candidate and enroll in the CFA Program. To do so, you must: Meet one of the following criteria:» Have a bachelor s (or equivalent) degree,» Be in the final year of a bachelor s degree program,» Have four years of professional work experience, or» Have a combinating of professional work and university experi ence that totals at least four years. Be prepared to take the exams in English. Have a valid international passport. Meet the professional conduct admission criteria. 2. Pass the level I Exam (June or December). 3. Pass the Level II Exam (June). 4. Pass the Level III Exam (June). 5. Have four years of professional work experience in the investment decision-making process (accrued before, during Or after participation in the CFA Program). 6. Join CFA Institute as a regular member. 5 CFA Program Exam Calendars Locations and Fees: Test Centers: Locations for the June exam Locations for the December exam Fees: There are three possible registration deadlines for each CFA exam, and fees increase with each subsequent deadline. Review the fees and deadlines In general, the June and December exam calendars are similar from year to year. For example, each year. All three levels of the CFA exam are offered on the first Saturday in June. The Level I exam is also offered on the first Saturday in December. See the calendars below for approximate deadlines related to current exams. Please make a copy of this information if you wish to have it for future reference. All candidates who sit for a CFA Program exam are provided with a pass or did not pass exam result and a summary of their performance in each topic area. Candidates who do not pass the exam are provided with additional information regarding their performance relative to all other candidates who did not pass. After candidates receive their exam result, they may register for the next exam. We encourage candidates who do not pass to use the exam result information to guide their studies and to re-take the exam at a later date. Candidates can take as much time as they need before registering for the next exam. 7 Exam Structure and Timing Structure: The Level I exam consists of 240 multiple choice questions, split among two 3-hour sessions. Candidates must attend both sessions. Morning session (3 hours): 120 multiple choice questions, covering all topics Afternoon session (3 hours): 120 multiple choice questions, covering all topics Timing: On average you should allow approximately 90 seconds for each multiple choice question. You may need more or less time, depending on the question and how well you understand the topic.
