PRINCE Update represents the first major revision of PRINCE2 since The updated guidance, Managing Successful Projects with PRINCE2, and new Foundation and Practitioner examinations form the PRINCE2 2017update. The update will use the 2017 edition of the PRINCE2 manual, plus updated training materials and Foundation and Practitioner exams. Pre-course Requirements Comprehensive pre-course reading material is provided including a copy of Managing Successful Projects with PRINCE2: 2017 Edition. Expect to undertake a period of selfstudy using materials provided before the course begins. In addition, there will be evening work to be completed throughout the course. Workshop Description Day 1 The definition and characteristics of a project and 6 aspects of project performance to be managed Integrated elements of PRINCE2 Features and benefits of PRINCE2 Customer/supplier context and undertaking projects in a commercial environment PRINCE2 principles Aspects of a project that can be tailored, who is responsible, and how tailoring decisions are documented Day 2 How PRINCE2 themes are applied throughout the project: Business case theme Organization theme Quality theme Plans theme Risk theme Change theme Progress theme Day 3 The purpose of PRINCE2 processes: Starting, directing, initiating, controlling a stage, managing product delivery, managing a stage boundary and closing a project The objectives and context of the PRINCE2 process Foundation Exam PRINCE2 is a registered trade mark of AXELOS Limited, used under permission of AXELOS Limited. 2 The Foundation Exam The PRINCE2 Foundation Certification exam is held in the afternoon on Day 3. The exam consists of 60 multiple choice questions; each question is worth 1 mark. The exam is closed book, no other materials are permitted. The exam is one hour in duration. A passing grade of 55% is required to receive Foundation Certification and to take the PRINCE2 Practitioner Certification on Days 4 and 5. Therefore, to pass candidates require 33 marks out of 60. The PRINCE2 Foundation qualification is permanent. Photographic identification must be presented to write the exam. Please bring a driver s license, passport or work identification. Candidates taking the exam in a language that is not their native or working language may be awarded 25% extra time, i.e., 75 minutes in total. Note: ACCT must be notified in advance for this accommodation. What You Will Learn This course conforms to the syllabus set down by AXELOS for those wishing to gain PRINCE2 Foundation certification. Upon successful completion of this course, students will have: Gained a basic knowledge and understanding of project management and project-based work Identified the difference between a project and a process Been introduced to the components, elements and processes of PRINCE2 and the relationships that bind them together PRINCE2 PRACTITIONER CERTIFICATION (2 DAYS) How You Will Benefit This course conforms to the syllabus set down by AXELOS for delegates wishing to gain PRINCE2 Practitioner certification. This instructor-led course is aimed at anyone wishing to gain the qualification, ideally having already attended the PRINCE2 Foundation course. A successful Practitioner candidate should, with suitable direction, be able to start applying the method to a real project but may not be sufficiently skilled to do this appropriately for all situations. Practitioners holding a current certificate will not be required to recertify to the 2017 version although it is recommended that they familiarize themselves with the new material. Pre-course Requirements There are no Pre-requisites for Pre-course reading material for PRINCE2 Practitioner. There will be evening work to be completed throughout the course. Delegates will need a good understanding of PRINCE2 and have attended the PRINCE2 Foundation course first. Anyone sitting the PRINCE2 Practitioner examination must have passed the PRINCE2 Foundation examination. 3 The Practitioner Exam You must pass the Foundation exam to sit Practitioner Certification. The emphasis on different parts of the syllabus has been adjusted. There are questions specifically around the principles, and the number of questions about management products has been reduced. The candidate is tested on their ability to apply the core of each theme and process, and also on their practical ability to assess, in a particular context, whether a particular approach to project management is effective and fit for purpose. The amount of additional information needed to answer the questions and removing complex question styles, such as assertion-reason has been reduced. The exam is open book but only the PRINCE2 manual can be used. The Managing Successful Projects with PRINCE2 (2017) publication is permitted, however no materials other than this publication and the examination materials are permitted. The exam is 2.5 hours duration, no additional reading time. Thirty-eight (38) marks out of 68 is required to pass which is approximately 55%. Completed PRINCE2 Practitioner Certification examinations are sent to an independent authority for grading. Successful candidates are issued their certification in 2 to 4 weeks. Photographic identification must be presented to write the exam. Please bring a driver s license, passport or work identification. Candidates taking the exam in a language that is not their native or working language may be awarded 25% extra time, i.e. 187 minutes in total. Note: ACCT must be notified in advance for this accommodation. The PRINCE update qualification is renewable every 3 years. Candidates can retake the full Practitioner exam to remain current. There will be no PRINCE update re-registration exam. PRINCE2 Membership offers an alternative option for candidates. In order to remain current with your certification you must satisfy the following criteria within the three-year period: 1. Join membership within three months of passing your exam and remain in membership for the three-year period by renewing the subscription each year. 2. Maintain the PRINCE2 digital badge which will be awarded as part of membership for the three-year period. Candidates will need to record 20 CPD points each year, in the prescribed categories, for the badge to be extended on renewal. You will only receive a new certificate if your digital badge has been maintained for the three-year period. To support candidates who wish to remain current, AXELOS will be including one year s PRINCE2 Membership with every PRINCE update Practitioner exam.
