HCS license overview, page 1 HCS license registration and activation, page 2 Add-on licensing, page 3 Obtaining customer licenses, page 3 Registration and activation procedures, page 4 Domain manager, page 7 Service assurance licenses, page 7 Obtaining clients, page 8 Requesting licensing for customer turnover (deactivation), page 8 Version upgrade from HCS 8.x to HCS 9.x, page 8 Cisco Unified Communications software subscription activation, page 9 HCS license overview This document provides the steps needed to acquire and activate licenses for applications and management components running on HCS. First, it addresses licenses needed for Unified Collaboration applications: Unified Communications Manager Unified Presense and Instant Messaging Unity Connection TelePresence The document will describe how the licenses for the above applications are obtained via a common license PAK and activated on one of the Enterprise License Mangers running on HCS. The remainder of the document will address licenses for Contact Center Enterprise and HCS management components, Cisco Unified Collaborations Domain Manager (CUCDM) and Service Assurance components Cisco Unified Operations Manager and Cisco Unified Service Monitor. OL
HCS license registration and activation HCS license registration and activation Bundles and add-on licenses Cisco Unified Collaboration applications on HCS are licensed through a combination of bundles and add-on licenses. There are three bundles: Basic: Consists of voice, single number reach mobility licensing, and presence/instant messaging licensing for a single device, with no desktop or mobile client included in the bundle. Foundation: Consists of voice, single number reach mobility licensing, and presence/instant messaging licensing for a single device, including licensing for a single device, which can be a hard phone, mobile client, or desktop client. Standard: Consist of voice, voic , single number reach mobility licensing, and presence/instant messaging licensing for multiple devices, with desktop and mobility clients. A device can consist of an IP phone, desktop client, mobile client, or analog device. The Partner can separately purchase IP phones, desktop clients, mobility clients, and analog devices that are not bundled in the packages. Additional licenses for increasing the number of devices per subscriber are not available as add-ons. Partner must purchase the appropriate bundle to use more devices per subscriber. Functionality Collaboration Apps Basic Foundation Standard Full Voice/Call Control Cisco UC Manager Number of Devices Mobility (SNR) Cisco Unified Mobility Native Video Cisco UC Manager Unified Messaging Cisco Unity Connection IM & Presence Cisco Jabber IM Desktop Softphone Cisco Jabber (full UC) Smartphone Client Cisco Jabber (full UC) Immersive Video Cisco TelePresence rooms 2 OL
Add-on licensing Functionality Collaboration Apps Basic Foundation Standard Web Conferencing Cisco WebEx Meetings Contact Center Agent Cisco Unified CC Enterprise Cisco TelePresence Cisco TelePresence Room licenses are registered with the PAK received for Unified Communications Manager. One room license should be used for each TelePresence Room deployed. These licenses are provided in the same type of PAK process as described in the preceding section of the document. Essential licensing Essential licenses for support of analog device connections, Cisco Unified IP Phone 3905, or Cisco Unified IP Phone 6901, are registered with the same PAK used for Unified Communications Manager and Cisco Unity Connection. Cisco Unity Connection Standalone You can purchase Cisco Unity Connection as a voic -only deployment. For license registration, see Registration and activation procedures. The PAK will only contain Unity Connection components but the registration steps are the same. For more information on HCS licenses and their ordering, please refer to the License Ordering for Cisco Hosted Collaboration Solution guide. Add-on licensing Information about applying add-on licensing is provided in the right to use certifications for the respective elements, unless noted as follows. Cisco Emergency Responder Cisco Emergency Responder is sold as an add-on in 10 user blocks. For more information about installing and configuring Emergency Responder, go to products_support_series_home.html. HCS for Contact Center (Unified CC) For Unified CC licensing information, please see the HCS for Contact Center Installation and Configuration Guide. Obtaining customer licenses HCS licenses are delivered to the Service Provider via a Cisco HCS Product Authorization Keys (PAK). The HCS licenses in the PAK are registered and fulfilled (installed) onto one or more Enterprise License Managers OL
Registration and activation procedures (ELM) running on HCS. HCS licenses loaded on an ELM will be automatically allocated to the Unified Communications application instances that are configured to the ELM. Note For licensing questions or issues, contact Registration and activation procedures This section describes two ways to fulfill licenses from an HCS License PAK onto an HCS Enterprise License Manager (ELM). The ELM allocates these licenses to its assigned Unified Communications Manager, Unity Connect and TelePresence Room application instances. The first method called efulfillment uses the ELM to connect to the Cisco License web site to fulfill the licenses from the pack. The second method, called Offline, involves more manual steps. efulfillment Use the following procedure to fulfill licenses using efulfillment. Procedure Step 1 Step 2 Step 3 Step 4 Step 5 Access the ELM and find Fulfill Licenses from PAK under Licenses > License Fulfillment. Fill in your PAK key. The system asks for your cisco.com login information to connect to the Cisco licensing server. The available entitlement will be displayed. As all Cisco HCS license PAKs allow is partial fulfillment, you can adjust the quantities of each license type that you want to fulfill from the PAK by clicking the rows and entering quantity. Enter an optional description for this license fulfillment transaction and check box to accept the end user license agreement. Then select Finish. The fulfilled HCS licenses are now available for activation on the UC applications associated with this ELM. Offline fulfillment The following steps illustrate how to fulfill and register licenses from one or more PAKs for an ELM, and load the resultant license file onto the ELM. 4 OL
Offline fulfillment Procedure Step 1 Step 2 Step 3 Go to and enter your credentials. If you have received new PAK(s) as a result of a sales order to Cisco, load them into your account from the Product License Registration page by clicking Load More PAKs button. The PAKs would have been mailed to you, or you can obtain them through the Order Status Tool with your sales order number. Select the PAK(s) you want to fulfill licenses from. Click Fulfill Selected PAKs. OL
Offline fulfillment The following figure shows that you must enter the users for Unified Communications Manager with Cisco Unity Connection and TelePresence Room. Figure 1: Registration page Step 4 Step 5 Step 6 The HCS License PAK can contain a variety of license types including UCM Basic, UCM Foundation, UCM Standard, Unity Connection and TelePresence Room. Enter the quantity of each license to be fulfilled to the ELM. Generate the ELM license request, which is obtained through the ELM system administration panel under License Management > Licenses > Generate License Request. To create a license request, see the "Generate license request" section of the Enterprise License Manager User Guide, Release 9.1(1). Copy the license request from the ELM and paste it into the License Registration page. The license request contains the unique identification of the ELM to which the licenses will be registered. 6 OL
Domain manager Step 7 Step 8 Step 9 Click the pencil icon next to end user and enter the information for the end user. Click OK. Click the Get License button. The License Request Status window appears to indicate that the license transaction is complete. A confirmation is sent, which includes the license file for the customer instance. This contains instructions on how to install the license file on the ELM. Note, do not try to install the ZIP file attachment onto the ELM. Open the ZIP file and extract the files. The.bin file is the file installed on the ELM. The license for Unified Communications Manager also provides the IM/Presence capabilities. You do not require a separate user or server license to use this function. To install the license file on the ELM: 1. Authenticate to the ELM. 2. Select Install License File. 3. Under License Management on navigation panel, select License Page. 4. A file browse dialog opens, navigate to the.bin license file you extracted to your computer and click Open. 5. Click Install. Domain manager Cisco Unified Communications Domain Manager ships a PAK that you use to register the product but will not generate a license file: 1 Go to and enter the Unified Communications Domain Manager PAK number. 2 Click the pencil icon next to End User and enter the information for the end partner. 3 Accept the end user license agreement. You do not need a MAC address for this process. 4 A confirmation will be sent from licensing@cisco.com to show registration is complete. No license file will be generated nor need to be installed. Service assurance licenses For Cisco HCS 9.x, licensing is not required for the Cisco Prime Central for HCS Assurance software; however, Cisco recommends that you purchase the licenses. For Cisco Unified Operations Manager and Cisco Unified Service Monitor, depending on the volume of your Cisco HCS order, you perform one of two processes to obtain per customer licensing for Cisco Unified Operations Manager and Cisco Unified Service Monitor. Tier 1 and Tier 2 Cisco HCS Orders for Cisco Unified Operations Manager and Cisco Unified Service Monitor For these tiers, the fulfillment process is similar to the Cisco Unified Communications applications. Go to and enter the PAK that you received for Cisco Unified Operations Manager, and then follow the steps to create the single instance license from your overall license pool. For these tiers, the fulfillment process is similar to the Cisco Unified Communications applications. Go to and enter the PAK that you received for Cisco Unified Operations Manager, and then follow the steps to create the single instance license from your overall license pool. OL
Obtaining clients Obtain the MAC address of the server and enter it when prompted. Tier 3-6 Cisco HCS Orders for Cisco Unified Operation Manager and Cisco Unified Service Monitor Use a Site License Tier 3-6 Cisco HCS software license creates an open site implementation where the key shipped enables an unlimited number of servers to manage up to 45,000 phones. The legal agreement of the contract is the only limitation on the total number of Cisco Unified Communications phones that can be managed for these tiers. To obtain the site license, the service provider or the corresponding Cisco account contact can send an to ask-ucms@cisco.com to obtain the license keys; refer to the Sales Order for confirmation of the order. You can install Cisco Unified Operations Manager on a virtual machine with a dynamic MAC address for evaluation. A static MAC address is configured on the virtual machine to use the permanent Cisco Unified Operations Manager license from cisco.com. The MAC address must be within the allowed VMware MAC address range: 00:50:56:00:00:00 to 00:50:56:3F:FF:FF. The Cisco license is issued to the static MAC address on the virtual machine. For more information on licensing for Cisco Unified Operations Manager, go to US/docs/net_mgmt/prime/unified_operations_manager/9.0/install/guide/CUOM_InstallationGuide90.html Obtaining clients Most clients do not require any additional licensing beyond a right to use on the server. Download additional licenses from Cisco.com or the applicable app store for mobile clients. The right-to-use certificates for each client will indicate the locations where the clients can be downloaded. Requesting licensing for customer turnover (deactivation) You can add and remove Customers from the ELM as they join or leave the service. However, if an ELM itself goes down or you add a new ELM, you may need to move licensing from one ELM to the other. To do this, contact hcs-license@cisco.com and include the following information: License request from the original ELM License request from the new ELM Sales Order number of the Cisco HCS purchased Partner name The ELM will run for 60 days without permanent licensing in place. This allows time to facilitate moves and changes. Version upgrade from HCS 8.x to HCS 9.x Upgrades from 8.x to 9.x for the Unified Communications Applications will be handled manually. When planning to migrate, please contact hcs-license@cisco.com. All PAKs will be reissued as 9.x PAKs and any 8.x licensing will be invalidated, once the 9.x licensing has been installed. The new PAK will include full entitlement for all HCS Unified Communications applications users. To register the licenses refer to the Cisco Unified Communications License section in this guide. 8 OL
Cisco Unified Communications software subscription activation An Active Unified Communications Software Subscription must be present for all users being migrated to 9.x.
