The course is available to participants who have taken and passed the CompTIA A+ Essentials exam and are seeking to become entry-level IT professionals. 12 D S L F U N D A M E N TA L S DSL Fundamentals is designed as an overview course for individuals in the elecommunications industry who desire an understanding of DSL. In addition, this course serves as an excellent preparation for more intensive training. 14 F U S I O N S P L I C I N G - A D VA N C E D F I B E R O P T I C T E C H N I C I A N ( A F O T ) This course builds upon the foundational information covered in the Fiber Optics course. It provides a hands-on introduction to fiber fusion splicing. Topics include fiber preparation, alignment, splicing, and testing methods. Lab sessions will provide the participant with an opportunity to practice making fusion splices and to practice testing each splice, replicating actual field installation practices. Participants are also prepared for the Advanced Fiber Optic Technician (AFOT) certification. Certification exam is offered at the end of the course. After completing the course, participants will be able to: Define common fusion splicing terms Discuss reasons to perform fusion splice between two cables Compare mechanical splicing and fusion splicing Operate a fusion splicer Measure splice loss by OTDR Troubleshoot problems that occur in fusion splicing The 18-hour course may be delivered in a variety of formats, depending upon the client s request. 20 VoIP CONVERGENCE TECHNOLOGIES SERIES The VoIP-Convergence Technology Series is a three part course designed to cover the basics of telephony networks and data networks. The third part of the series explains how these two types of traditional networks are used together to provide Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) services. The series uses texts which prepare participants for the industry-recognized Convergence Technology Professional (CTP) certification. Participants may also sit for the CTP certification exam at the end of the series.
