Installing the HPE ProLiant Updates Catalog Considerations Ensure that SCUP, WSUS, SCCM / SCVMM, and the managed servers are all properly configured for use with the Software Updates functionality. Installation The ProLiant Updates Catalog is registered with Microsoft as a partner catalog. For information about adding and importing the catalogs, see Adding Partner Software Updates Catalog Subscriptions on page 10. Installing the HPE ProLiant Updates Catalog 7

Using the HPE ProLiant Updates Catalog The catalog updates appear in the SCUP console under the HPE ProLiant Updates subfolder. Deploy the updates like any other standard update. IMPORTANT: Before publishing to WSUS 3.0 or earlier, ensure that the WSUS LocalPublishingMaxCabSize variable has been increased to at least 1024 or more. After publishing an update to SCCM 2012 and before deploying the update to a collection, increase the update's Maximum run time value from the default value to 30 minutes. On ProLiant G7 or earlier servers, enable the SNMP feature on the managed servers before deploying any software updates. If you are deploying updates to a managed server that does not have any Hewlett Packard Enterprise drivers installed, you must deploy a software update before the firmware update. Since the bundles include HP SUM and components from the SPP, they are susceptible to HP SUM and component issues. Check for any advisories before deploying them. Firmware available is an ICM entitled file. Firmware file must be downloaded from support site, using their support authentication. This file has to be placed in Local Publishing folder after downloading from support site. Deploying updates with ProLiant Updates Catalog Procedure Following are the steps to deploy updates using the ProLiant Updates Catalog: 1. Subscribe to the ProLiant Updates Catalog by adding the entry from the SCUP partner catalogs listing. 2. Import the ProLiant Updates Catalog into SCUP. 3. Publish the bundles from SCUP. 4. Deploy the bundles from SCCM or SCVMM. 8 Using the HPE ProLiant Updates Catalog

Reference The HPE ProLiant Updates Catalog consists of bundles. The bundles provide a simple and convenient mechanism for deploying firmware and software. The bundle's contents are a portion of the SPP. The bundle s version number corresponds to the SPP it was generated from. Inside each bundle HP SUM is used to install the included firmware or software. The catalog and bundles are updated whenever a new SPP becomes available. The catalog references only the latest version of each bundle. Drivers, agents, and utilities. Drivers, agents, and utilities. Drivers, agents, and utilities. NOTE: Hewlett Packard Enterprise recommends using the Service Pack for ProLiant DVD for updating infrastructure firmware. Refer to the SPP site for details of what firmware and software components are included. Go to Refer to the HP Smart Update Manager User Guide for details of its installation logic. In particular, how it determines which agents to install or update based on the server generation and what agents are already installed. Go to The bundles will pass through the HP SUM /use_snmp, /use_wmi, and /use_ams parameters to manually control which agents get installed. These parameters can be added to the bundle's command line in SCUP. Since the bundles include HP SUM and components from the SPP, they are susceptible to HP SUM and component issues. Check for any advisories before deploying them. Reference 9

System Center Updates Publisher - SCUP 2011 Introduction Updates Publisher is a stand-alone tool that enables independent software vendors or application developers to import software update catalogs, export update definitions to catalogs, and publish software updates information to a configured Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) server. By using Updates Publisher to define software updates and publish them to the WSUS server, software updates in Configuration Manager and Virtual Machine Manager is able to synchronize the custom updates from the WSUS server database to the site server database, enable client computers to scan for custom update compliance, and provide administrators the ability to deploy the custom updates to client computers in SCCM and Remediate in SCVMM. Software Updates Catalogs management Software updates catalogs are used to import sets of related software updates into the System Center Updates Publisher 2011 repository. You can also import from software catalogs that organizations other than Microsoft, including HP/HPE organization, and vendor update catalogs that are registered with Microsoft create. The registered vendor catalogs are referred to as partner catalogs. Catalogs Workspace You can manage the software updates catalogs through the Catalogs workspace. To add, edit, or remove software updates, use the icons available in the menu of the Catalogs workspace. The import icon allows you to import software updates subscriptions from the catalogs into the Updates Publisher 2011 repository. The My software updates catalogs list contains catalog subscriptions that allow you to do tasks without having to remember the details of where the catalogs are stored. The list displays the following information: Publisher The name of the company or organization who created the catalog Name The name of the software updates catalog Last Imported The date and time when the catalog was last imported into the Updates Publisher 2011 repository Last Modified The date and time when the catalog subscription was added or last edited Path The location from where the catalog can be downloaded Changes to SCUP folder structure Starting with HPE ProLiant Updates Catalog version , after you import the bundles, the HPE bundles appear in the HPE ProLiant Updates folder in the Updates workspace of the System Center Updates Publisher. Bundles imported before version appear in the HP ProLiant Updates folder. Adding Partner Software Updates Catalog Subscriptions Starting in August 2016, the download ftp site referenced in the SCUP partner catalog listing has changed. The Catalog content has moved to a new https site for download. If you have been using the old Catalog listing, you must remove the old HP Catalog entry from SCUP and then add the new HPE entry that points to the new download site. This only needs to be done once to point to the updated Catalog entry, and not each time the Catalog is imported or published. If this is the first time you will use the Catalog listing, you may ignore the steps that refer to removal of the old entry (start on step 4 below). 10 System Center Updates Publisher - SCUP 2011

Troubleshooting The compliance percentage is 0% This situation occurs if the managed server is updated either manually or by using the old Hewlett Packard Enterprise Server Updates Catalog. The new ProLiant Updates Catalog uses different applicability rules, so the compliance percentage reads 0%. To resolve this issue, deploy the ProLiant Updates Catalog updates. No firmware or software is updated, but the data for the applicability rules is generated and the compliance percentage is updated. Initial install status is failed The bundle and its associated smart components install correctly, but the initial install status is marked as failed. Furthermore, at the next polling cycle, the install status changes to success. This occurs because the update's Maximum run time value is too small. To resolve this issue, increase the Maximum run time to 30 minutes. Software bundle fails to install Check the c:\cpqsystem\log\cpqsetup.log file for details. One common cause: On ProLiant G7 or earlier servers, the SNMP feature is not enabled. To resolve this issue: On ProLiant G7 or earlier servers, enable the SNMP feature. Firmware bundle fails to install Check the c:\cpqsystem\log\cpqsetup.log file for details. One common cause: The necessary Hewlett Packard Enterprise drivers are not present. To resolve this issue: Deploy the appropriate software bundle before deploying the firmware bundle. Retry the update either by waiting for the deployment to be reattempted or manually pushing the update. With versions and , the Windows Server software bundles do not install the latest HPE Insight Management Agents Due to an installation problem with the latest HPE Insight Management Agents component, in the context of the catalog, an earlier version of the Insight Management Agents component is included in the Windows Server software bundles. To resolve this issue, manually install the latest Insight Management Agents component to the managed servers. Bundles fail to install on HPE OneView managed servers If the server is managed by HPE OneView with a defined baseline version and the bundle version does not match the baseline version, then the bundle will not install.
