3 President s Message Dear Members, I am pleased to share your Chapter s activities and some important news that may be interest to you. Your Chapter won two international awards: I am very proud to share that our Chapter has won "ISACA's K. Wayne Snipes Award 2015" for following two categories: Best Medium Chapter in Asia Best Medium Chapter Worldwide In fact this is a global recognition for our chapter and we are extremely proud to earn this distinction. I wish to thank our chapter board and every chapter member for making this possible with continued & unstinted support. This is a great inspiration for all of us, I assure that the chapter board will definitely expend further efforts to win more awards for our Chapter. Chapter AGM 2016 ISACA Karachi Chapter AGM 2016 held on 30th March 2016 at the Royal Rodale Complex DHA Karachi. A large number of chapter members attended the event. The agenda of AGM were : 1. Seminar on Global Information Security Survey delivered by Mr.Muhammad Maad. 2. Introduction to ISACA Cybersecurity Nexus (CSX) delivered by Mr.Muhammad Rehan Qadri. 3. Approval of minutes of the AGM held on March 31, Approval of the audited Financial Statements for the year ended December 31, Your chapter supported two conferences in April 2016 : ISACA Karachi Chapter supported 2nd IT Showcase Pakistan 2016 ( and 4th Pakistan CIO Summit 2016 ( held on April, 2016 in Karachi. The 2nd IT Showcase Pakistan helped to promote IT products and services available to our industries and corporations across Pakistan, while Pakistan CIO Summit aimed to bring together CIOs, IT Heads, Experts, Opinion Leaders, Academia and IT solution providers under one roof. Due to our efforts, the organizers of both conferences agreed to offer special discounts to the members of ISACA Karachi Chapter, thus a large number of chapter members attended both conferences. 4 President s Message ISACA Official Review Course in Karachi. As you know, ISACA Karachi Chapter is the only authorized body to conduct ISACA Official Review Course in Karachi. CISA & CISM Review courses were held in April-May Special Discount was offered to the members of ISACA Karachi Chapter. One-Day Training on Implementation of BCMS - 16-Apr-2016 Your chapter conducted one-day training session on "Introduction to the implementation of (BCMS) based on ISO This one-day training was conducted by renown industry expert Mr.Ghazali A. Wasti; he is Director IT Consulting KSA & Middle East Regional BCM leader for Protiviti in Middle East. That training enabled participants to get familiar with the basic concepts of implementation and management of a Business Continuity Management System (BCMS) as specified in ISO 22301:2010, as well as the best practices for implementing the business continuity processes based on the ISO/PAS The training was fully compatible with BS (Business continuity management specification) and ISO (Guidelines for information and communication technology readiness for business continuity). Interactive Session on Emerging Trends in Payment Industry - 20-Apr-2016 Your chapter conducted an interactive session on 'Emerging Trends in Payment Industry'. To conduct this session, we invited Mr. S. Sohail Javaad (Head of Payment Systems Division, State Bank of Pakistan). The informative event was well attended by the chapter members. Presentation on Cyber Security - 2-June-2016 Your chapter organized a presentation on Cyber Security & Developing Enterprise Security Frameworks on 2 nd June 2016 at KASBIT Karachi. To conduct this presentation we invited Mr. Syed Abid Ali, who has more than 14 years of experience in Information Security, Cyber Doctrines and Technology Management. 8 ISACA KARACHI CHAPTER Won Two International Awards Best Medium Chapter in Asia and Best Medium Chapter Worldwide Global recognition of ISACA Karachi Chapter Lisbon, Portugal 7-Apr-2016: ISACA International pleased to extend congratulations to the Karachi Chapter for an outstanding year in The chapter has earned the 2015 K. Wayne Snipes Award for both categories, i.e. Best Medium Chapter in Asia and Best Medium Chapter Worldwide. The K. Wayne Snipes Award recipients are determined based on the criteria of Chapter membership growth; Member service projects; Attendance at Chapter meetings/educational meetings; Involvement with other professional organizations; Compliance with ISACA International Headquarters requirements and Educational events conducted by the chapter. The awards presented at the 2016 Global Leadership Summit in Lisbon, Portugal on 7-9 April, Mr. Zain Ansari, President ISACA Karachi Chapter and Executive Director Deloitte Pakistan attended the ISACA S Global Leadership Summit 2016 in Lisbon, Portugal. He received the Best Medium Chapter in Asia and Best Medium Chapter Worldwide awards from Matt Loeb, CEO ISACA and Christos K. Dimitriadis International President ISACA. At this prestigious moment Mr.Zain A. Ansari stated that we are very proud to share that our Chapter has Mr.Zain Ansari President ISACA Karachi Chapter and Executive Director Deloitte Pakistan (center) receiving the Best Medium Chapter Asia and Best Medium Chapter Worldwide awards from Matt Loeb, CEO ISACA (left) and Christos K. 9 ISACA KARACHI CHAPTER Won Two International Awards Best Medium Chapter in Asia and Best Medium Chapter Worldwide Global recognition of ISACA Karachi Chapter About the K. Wayne Snipes Award: The K. Wayne Snipes award was established in 1989 and recognizes ISACA chapters that meet or exceed service goals by actively supporting local membership and, thus, the information systems audit and control profession. The award is given to the top chapter in four size categories small ( members), medium ( members), large ( members) and very large (more than 800 members) within each region. The K. Wayne Snipes Award is ISACA s way of recognizing chapters that continually go above and beyond to provide excellent service and guidance. Chapters are selected by a group of peer leaders from chapters around the world, specifically the Chapter Support Committee, with help from the International staff. Award recipients are determined based on the following criteria: Chapter membership growth Member service projects Chapter-sponsored educational events Attendance at chapter meetings Involvement on association committees or with association activities Involvement with other professional organizations Compliance with ISACA International Headquarters K. Wayne Snipes, Jr., was an active member of ISACA who served in various positions at both the local and international levels, including regional vice president at the international level. During his time in office, Snipes achieved the largest number of new chapters and the largest membership growth in existing chapters. In total, he dedicated 14 years to the North Texas (USA) ISACA Chapter and served eight years as an international trustee on the ISACA Board of Directors. 10 ISACA Karachi Chapter Proudly Supports IT Showcase Pakistan 2016 & Pakistan CIO Summit 2016 ISACA Karachi Chapter pleased to support 2nd IT Showcase Pakistan ( and 4th Pakistan CIO Summit 2016 ( held on Apr-2016 Karachi. The 2nd IT Showcase Pakistan helped to promote the IT products and services available to our industries and corporations across Pakistan including Oil & Gas, Banking and Finance, Telecom, Energy, FMCG, Textile, Pharmaceutical, Construction, Education, Manufacturing, Automobiles, SMEs, Healthcare, Insurance, Shipping, Government and Exports. In the showcase visitors, were invited from the business to evaluate the products on display for the increased efficiencies of their organizations. Ms.Anusha Rahman (State Minister of Information Technology and Telecommunication) was chief guest of the event. Mr. Muhammad Maad (BoD & Treasurer ISACA Karachi Chapter) receiving award shield on chapter behalf; presented by the chief guest Ms. Anusha Rahman (State Minister of I.T. & Telecommunication). Pakistan CIO Summit brought together CIOs, IT Heads, Experts, Opinion Leaders, Academia and IT solution providers under one roof to discuss the opportunities and challenges in hand. The annual gathering not only provided a platform for information dissemination but also viewed as a forum for the key industry players to share perspectives on important industry issues. 12 Introduction to the implementation of a Business Continuity Management System (BCMS) Based on ISO An Interactive Session Conducted by ISACA Karachi Chapter Saturday 16-April :00am to 04:30pm ICAP, Clifton, Karachi This one-day training enabled participants to get familiar with the basic concepts of implementation and management of a Business Continuity Management System (BCMS) as specified in ISO 22301:2010, as well as the best practices for implementing the business continuity processes based on the ISO/PAS The participant learned different components of a BCMS, including the BCMS policy, risk management, measuring performance, management s commitment, internal audit, management review and continual improvement. This training was fully compatible with BS (Business continuity management specification) and ISO (Guidelines for information and communication technology readiness for business continuity).
