2 The focus of IIT s School of Applied Technology (SAT) is the future: the application and integration of new technologies that will change how we live and work. Our distinctive programs are designed to broaden and deepen your knowledge of new, emerging, and existing technologies as well as the managerial practices to utilize them effectively. SAT offers programs in: Food Science and Nutrition Students learn about food safety, food technology, food process engineering, and nutrition. Industrial Technology and Management Students learn about operations management, process analysis, quality control, project management, risk assessment, management information systems, technology implementation, strategy, entrepreneurship, and leadership. Information Technology and Management Students learn about cyber security, database applications, data analytics, digital networks, wireless communications, mobile-device applications, cloud computing, forensics, and embedded systems. All programs are hands-on, project- and/or laboratory-based graduate programs that focus on applied practices, but are balanced with theoretical underpinnings.

5 TECHNOLOGY PrograMs for WorkIng ProfessIonals Our students are exploring new careers or looking to enhance their current skills. Many are also balancing work and family commitments while earning their graduate degrees. Courses are conveniently offered at times to suit a working professional s schedule and can be completed live and/or online. IIT has campuses in Chicago and Wheaton, and operates a Food Safety and Technology laboratory in Bedford Park. career-targeted specializations SAT programs offer several specializations that are market focused and targeted toward specific careers. If you want to concentrate on an area of interest (non-degree option), SAT offers certificate programs consisting of four graduate courses. All courses may later be applied toward master s degrees (for those accepted to a degree program).

6 TECHNOLOGY IndUstrIal technology and ManageMent The Master of Industrial Technology and Operations (MITO) degree is designed for individuals whose technical education and/or work experience requires a broader understanding of management topics specific to manufacturing, supply chain and logistics, sustainability, and industrial facilities. Our courses prepare you for leadership and entrepreneurial roles in world-class companies in a variety of industries with responsibility for local, regional, national, and international operations. InforMatIon technology and ManageMent The Master of Information Technology and Management (MITM) and Master of Cyber Forensics and Security degrees and certificates are designed for prospective and current IT professionals who seek a hands-on, laboratory-based program with theoretical underpinnings to broaden and deepen their knowledge of new and emerging information technologies, the application and integration of these technologies, and the administrative practices used in the effective management of these technologies.

7 food science and nutrition The Department of Food Science and Nutrition (FdSN) supported by IIT s internationally renowned Institute for Food Safety and Health (IFSH) offers master s degree (thesis and professional) and certificate programs in Food Safety and Technology and Food Process Engineering. FdSN also offers the industry-orientated Food Processing Specialist Certificate Program. Through our unique collaborative research consortium, the academic program provides opportunities for students to work with IIT, FDA and industry scientists and professionals.
