With the SIP-based open platform design, espace UC solution provides diversified services, allows access for multiple terminals, and features high reliability, simplified deployment, and easy integration. espace U900 series unified gateways ( the unified gateway ) are core switching devices in the Huawei espace UC solution that provide IPT (IP Telephony) service for enterprises. 2 Scenario Description This document describes quick configuration of UC solution based on the following IPT service requirements and device networking. a Service Requirements User numbers: 80 three-digit short numbers ( ); long numbers for some users User Terminal Short Number Long Number User Role IP phone Enterprise director Enterprise employee Fax machine Analog phone Enterprise employee Voice services: Service Communication between users within an enterprise Communication between enterprise users and PSTN users Enterprise switchboard Voice mailbox Description Internal users call each other using short numbers. Outgoing calls: Prefix 9 is required. The calling party's long number is displayed on the called party's phone if the calling party has been assigned a long number. For those without long numbers, the switchboard number is displayed. Incoming calls: An external user can reach an internal user by directly dialing the internal user's long number, or through the enterprise switchboard. Switchboard number: 568; reception desk number: 8 Access mode: An external user dials the switchboard number and performs operations as prompted: Dials an extension number to reach the desired enterprise user. Dials 0 to reach the receptionist, who will then provide services (telling the external user the number information or transferring the external user's call to an internal user). Calls are transferred to the voice mailbox when called parties are offline or do not answer calls within a specific period. Users can dial 700 to retrieve messages. b Device Networking Device list: Device espace U9 espace 790 IP phone 8 Fax machine Analog phone Quantity (equipped with one SCU, one MTU, and one ASI board) The unified gateway functions as an IP PBX to provide call control functions. It connects to the PSTN through a trunk to support voice communication between enterprise users, and between enterprise users and PSTN users. In this scenario, espace U9 is equipped with one SCU, one MTU, and one ASI board. Through the E trunk provided by its MTU board, espace U9 connects to the PSTN. When the AT0 trunk is used for connecting to the PSTN, the OSU board is required. Analog phones and fax machines are directly connected to the ASI board on the unified gateway. (espace U980 cannot directly connect to analog phones or fax machines.) IP phones register with the unified gateway. When successfully registered, they can place intra-office and interoffice calls.

3 Data Plan Plan required data before the configuration. The following tables provide sample data for reference. The planned data will be used in the operations tasks described in chapters 8 in this document. Data in the following tables is based on the scenario described in chapter. When you need to bulk deploy IP phones, it is recommended that you plan and deploy a DHCP server for the IP phones to dynamically obtain IP addresses. For details about batch deployment of IP phones, see the Administrator Guide of the corresponding IP phone model. Ensure network connectivity between the unified gateway and IP phones. If authentication by password is used, plan the authentication passwords. The unified gateway uses an office route number to uniquely identify an office route. b: An office route selection code identifies an office route selection policy. Based on this policy, the unified gateway analyzes the route along which calls are sent to the peer device. One-to-one mapping is recommended for office route selection codes and office route numbers. Description For outgoing calls, the system changes calling numbers to the enterprise switchboard number. For outgoing calls, the system deletes prefix 9 that calling parties have added.

5 Preparing for the Configuration a Checking Cable Connections and Indicators Prerequisites: The unified gateway has been installed, cable-connected, and powered on onsite according to the Quick Installation Guide of the unified gateway. Step: Check cable connections. The following figure illustrates the cable connections for the device networking provided in section b "Device Networking": Trunk cable Ethernet cable Subscriber cable U9 Ethernet switch Switching devices Distribution frame User terminals Analog phone Fax machine IP phone IP phone PC Cable Description Trunk cable Ethernet cable Subscriber cable In trunk planning of the scenario example, the PRA trunk is used for connecting to the PSTN; therefore, the corresponding trunk cable is the E trunk cable. When the AT0 trunk is used for connecting to the PSTN, verify the connection of the FXO port on the OSU board to the AT0 trunk cable. Implements IP-based communication among devices in the LAN. In the preceding figure, GE0 and GE ports on the unified gateway are both connected to the LAN for redundancy backup. Uses twisted pairs to connect to analog phones and fax machines through the distribution frame. Step: Check the indicators on the unified gateway, and ensure that the RUN indicator on the power supply is on. 5

Open Internet Explorer on the PC, enter the IP address of the unified gateway in the address box, and press Enter. Click corner of the login page. in the upper right Enter the administrator information and click Log In. The default IP address of the unified gateway is Ensure that the IP address (for example, ) of the PC is in the same network segment as the unified gateway. You can run the ping command to check the network connectivity. Internet Explorer 7.0, 8.0, or 9.0 that supports ActiveX and JavaScript is required. If a message indicating the website security certificate issue is displayed, just click Continue to this website (not recommended) as long as the IP address is correct. The administrator login page is displayed. Default account information for the administrator: User name: admin Password: huawei After initial login, change the config password as soon as possible. 6

7 d Applying for a License If a license is not obtained according to the equipment serial number (ESN) on the chassis during the installation phase, obtain the ESN in the web management system and apply for a license during the configuration phase. In the web management system of the unified gateway, choose System > View License. The license information is displayed. By default, the unified gateway provides a license that supports four voice users. The ESN is a 0-digit number. Obtain the ESN of the unified gateway. Log in to the Huawei ESDP system. ESDP system URL: Apply for a license according to the contract agreements and the obtained ESN. For details about how to log in to the FNO system and apply for a license, see the website Help. e Loading a License Place the obtained license file to the PC. For example, the directory for storing the license file is D:\U900. In the web management system of the unified gateway, choose System > File Management. The file loading page is displayed. Load the license. mark the positions of the controls to operate when you perform related sub-steps. The description of these marks applies globally in the document. The license data is displayed in the License Current Config information area. Choose System > View License and verify the license data. Total users: total number of users supported CTI users: number of SoftConsole users supported Voice Mail nums: number of concurrent messages supported in the voice mailbox service Conference users: number of concurrent users supported in the voice conference service 7

8 Configuring the Unified Gateway This chapter describes the configuration based on the U9 and data plan provided in chapter. In actual deployment, configure the unified gateway based on the actual unified gateway model in use and onsite data plan. a Configuring IP Addresses Log in to the web management system of the unified gateway. Click QuickSetup in the upper part of the web page. Enter the IP address information and click Next. For detailed login operations, see section c. The quick configuration wizard is displayed in the left-hand navigation bar, and the IP address configuration pane is displayed on the right side. Fill in the data according to section a "IP Address Plan." After you perform this step, a dialog box is displayed, telling you that the device will be restarted after the IP address is changed. Click OK. The unified gateway saves the data and automatically restarts. b Configuring Boards Log in to the web management system of the unified gateway. Choose QuickSetup > Configure Board. Click the target slot and select a board type from the dropdown list box. Configure the transmission mode and transcoding codec format. For detailed login operations, see section c. The board configuration page is displayed. Configure all boards according to section b "Board Plan" and select the correct board types. When the board type selected is MTU Board, the MTU Parameter Configuration dialog box is displayed. Perform the following operations based on service requirements: If the voice mailbox service is required, set Number of VMS Channels according to the number of concurrent messages supported in the purchased license (see section e for the method of viewing license data.) If the voice conference service is required, set Conference board to Yes. Select the transmission mode (E or T) according to section f "Trunk Plan." Ensure that the codec format selected is the same as that on the peer device. Generally, When the transmission mode is E, select ALAW as the codec format. When the transmission mode is T, select ULAW as the codec format. In the scenario described in this document, use the default settings. Example of the configuration result: 5 Click Next. The SIP user configuration page is displayed. 8

9 c Configuring SIP Users SIP users are users of IP phones, espace soft terminals, and analog phones (connected through the IAD). In this scenario, SIP users use IP phones. In the SIP user configuration page of QuickSetup, click Create. Enter the number information and click OK. The Add SIP User dialog box is displayed. Fill in the data according to section c "Number Plan." When long numbers are planned, also set Start long number. Set Authentication mode to By Password, By IP, or By IP and password to ensure users' account security. For more information about the parameters displayed, click next to the corresponding parameter or click Help. If SIP users in other number segments exist, repeat steps - to add these SIP users, for example, adding SIP user numbers Click Next. The POTS user configuration page is displayed. d Configuring POTS Users POTS users are users of analog phones and fax machines that are directly connected (through subscriber cables) using the unified gateway. In the POTS user configuration page of QuickSetup, click Create. Enter the number information and click OK. The Add POTS User dialog box is displayed. Fill in the data according to section c "Number Plan." When long numbers are planned, also set Start long number. For more information about the parameters displayed, click next to the corresponding parameter or click Help. If POTS users in other number segments exist, repeat steps - to add these POTS users, for example, adding fax number 800 and setting the corresponding long number Click Complete and Save Data. The web quick configuration wizard is completed. e Verifying Voice Call Services for POTS Users Step Operation Expected Result Have POTS users A and B dial *5# using analog phones. User A and user B hear their own phone numbers played by the system. Have user A call user B. User B's phone rings. Have user B answer the call. A call between users A and B is set up. 9

10 5 Configuring IP Phones This document describes how to configure espace 7900 series IP phones one by one. For information about how to bulk configure them or how to configure other IP phone models, see the Administrator Guide of the corresponding IP phone model. Prerequisites: An IP phone to configure has been connected to the network and powered on. For detailed operations, see the Quick Start hard copy delivered with the IP phone. 5a Configuring IP Addresses Choose More > Network > IPv Setting > Static. The IP address configuration screen is displayed. Enter the IP address information, and press Done and Back. Fill in the data according to section a "IP Address Plan." You do not need to configure the DNS parameter. 5b Configuring Accounts and Verifying Services Open Internet Explorer on the PC, enter the IP address of the IP phone in the address box, and press Enter. Enter the administrator information and Log In. - The default account and password for the administrator are admin and admin. Choose Advanced > Server. - Enter the SIP server information and click Save. Set Network Environment to UC.X. Set Server to the IP address of the unified gateway provided in section a "IP Address Plan." Set Port to Leave other parameters empty. 5 Choose Advanced > Account. In the Account Setting area, click. 6 Enter the newly created account information and click OK. Set Account and User Name to the phone number, and Password to the authentication password. Fill in the data according to section c "Number Plan." Leave Label Name empty. 7 8 In the Line Match area, select the line of the newly created account and click Save. Verify the service: Have the IP phone user call another user (for example, a POTS user). When only one phone number can be assigned to an IP phone, you can configure multiple lines to share the same account if necessary. The POTS user's phone rings. When the POTS user answers the phone, a call is set up. 0

11 6 Configuring Trunks Configure office route, prefix, and trunk data on the unified gateway to implement voice communication between enterprise users and PSTN users. 6a Configuring Office Routes Office route: specifies a direct route between the unified gateway and the peer device. Office route selection code: identifies an office route selection policy. Based on this policy, the unified gateway analyzes the route along which calls are sent to the peer device. Number change: defines the rules for operations on user numbers. The operations include changing a number, inserting digits to a number, and deleting digits from a number. Log in to the web management system of the unified gateway. Choose Trunk > Office Route Configuration > Office Route Selection Code. Click Create. In the Create Office Route Selection Code dialog box, enter the office route selection code information and click OK. For detailed login operations, see section c. The page for configuring office route selection codes is displayed. Fill in the office route selection code according to section d "Office Route Plan." Use the default settings for the other parameters unless there is any special function requirement. For more information about the parameters displayed, click next to the corresponding parameter or click Help. 5 6 Choose Trunk > Office Route Configuration > Office Route. Click Create. In the Create Office Route dialog box, enter the office route information and click OK. Choose Trunk > Office Route Configuration > Number Change Index. The route office configuration page is displayed. When creating an office route, fill in the data according to section d "Office Route Plan" if you need to associate an office route selection code to this office route. Use the default settings for the other parameters unless there is any special function requirement. The number change configuration page is displayed. Click Create. In the Create Number Change dialog box, enter the number change information and click OK. 7 Create all number change rules according to section d "Office Route Plan." 8 Click Data Save in the upper right corner of the web management system. Save the data in a timely manner to avoid data loss caused by a device restart.

12 6b Configuring Prefixes A prefix is the one for a called number, including intra-office prefix and outgoing prefix. An intra-office prefix is used for intra-office or external users to call intra-office users, while an outgoing prefix is used for intra-office users to place outgoing calls, including international toll calls, national toll calls, and local calls. Choose Trunk > Prefix Configuration. The prefix configuration page is displayed. Click Create. The Create Prefix dialog box is displayed. Enter the intra-office prefix information and click OK. Note Repeat steps - to add all intra-office prefixes (for example, 56). Fill in the data according to section e "Prefix Plan." After users are configured using QuickSetup, the system automatically creates intra-office prefixes (for example, 8 in the scenario described in this document) for the short numbers. You do not need to manually create them again. However, if long numbers exist, configure the corresponding prefixes, for example, 56 in the scenario described in this document. Set the three key parameters shown in the left-hand figure. For the other parameters, the default settings are recommended. For more information about the parameters displayed, click next to the corresponding parameter or click Help. Click Create. The Create Prefix dialog box is displayed. Enter the outgoing prefix information and click OK. 5 6 Note Repeat steps -5 to add all outgoing prefixes (for example, 900, 90 and 9). Click Data Save in the upper right corner of the web management system. Prefixes with the call attributes being International toll call, National toll call, and Local call are all outgoing prefixes. When configuring the outgoing prefixes, follow the order: international toll call -> national toll call -> local call. Fill in the data according to section e "Prefix Plan." Set the key parameters shown in the left-hand figure. For the other parameters, the default settings are recommended. The parameter Display long calling number takes precedence over Calling number change. Therefore, after Display long calling number is set to Yes and if a user that has a long number places an outgoing call, the user's long number is displayed on the called party's phone. Save the data in a timely manner to avoid data loss caused by a device restart.

13 6c Configuring PRA Trunks In this document, the unified gateway connects to the PSTN using an E trunk (PRA signaling). Therefore, configure a PRA trunk here. If the AT0 trunk is used, configure the AT0 trunk by referring to section 6d. If other trunks are used, configure the trunks by referring to the Product Documentation of the unified gateway. Choose Trunk > Trunk Configuration > PRA. The PRA trunk configuration page is displayed. Click Add A Peer Office. A red line from Local to point:0 is displayed. Click the point:0 icon. The point:0 configuration dialog box is displayed. Click Create. A blank row for your configuration is displayed. Configure the PRA trunk. 5 Fill in the data according to section f "Trunk Plan." For more information about the parameters displayed, click next to the corresponding parameter or click Help. After the configuration is complete, the connection line from Local to point:0 turns green. 6 Choose System > Clock Source Configuration. The clock source configuration page is displayed. Configure the clock source. 7 When the unified gateway connects to the PSTN using a PRA trunk, it is recommended that you select the peer device as the clock source to avoid frame slip (voice packet loss). Use the slot number and port number specified in step 5 as those for the active clock. 8 Click Data Save in the upper right corner of the web management system. Save the data in a timely manner to avoid data loss caused by a device restart.

14 6d (Optional) Configuring AT0 Trunks When the unified gateway connects to the PSTN using an AT0 trunk, create an AT0 trunk and set AT0 interface parameters. If the PRA trunk is used, configure the PRA trunk by referring to section 6c. If other trunks are used, configure the trunks by referring to the Product Documentation of the unified gateway. Choose Trunk > Trunk Configuration > AT0. The AT0 trunk configuration page is displayed. The value on the icon indicates the slot number of the OSU board corresponding to the AT0 trunk. Click the line or icon. The AT0 trunk configuration dialog box is displayed. Configure the AT0 trunk, and click OK. Port: indicates the port number of the FXO port on the OSU board that connects the AT0 trunk. Office Route Number: Set this parameter according to chapter "Data Plan." Line Selection Mode: Polling is recommended. Default Called Number: indicates the enterprise switchboard access code. Set this parameter according to chapter "Data Plan." Configure the AT0 private lines, and click OK. Port: indicates the port number of the FXO port on the OSU board that connects the AT0 private line. Dedicated Line Number: indicates the short number of an intra-office user. Click Create repeatedly for the system to generate enough private lines. Then, set the parameters. 5 Click Back. The trunk management page is displayed. 6 Click Global. The Global dialog box is displayed. 7 Click Configure next to Country or Region. The Country or Region dialog box is displayed. 8 Select the country or region, and click OK. The factory defaults of the unified gateway provide AT0 signal tones and standard values for impedance parameters of some countries or regions (default: China). If the country or region where the site is located is not included in the preset country/region list or if you need to manually adjust more AT0 interface parameters, see the Product Documentation of the unified gateway. 6e Verifying Services The following assumes that user A is an external user, and enterprise user B's short number is 80 and long number is Step Operation Expected Result Have user A dial user B's long number User B's phone rings. 15 7 Configuring the Automatic Switchboard This document uses the automatic switchboard with customized announcements as an example to describe the configuration. For information about other types of automatic switchboard and the corresponding configuration methods, see the Product Documentation of the unified gateway. 7a Recording Switchboard Announcements Use a phone to connect to the unified gateway and directly record switchboard announcements. This method applies to U9, U960, and U98. If you want to use other methods or if other unified gateway models are deployed, see the Product Documentation of the corresponding unified gateway model. Obtain the command line script file for announcement recording. Access the Config mode of the unified gateway using the LMT. The command line script file is voice-recording command line.txt, and is saved in the..\script\english directory of the corresponding version software. For details, see Appendix A. In the LMT window of the unified gateway, click the Script Load tab. Click Browse and select the command line script file. Then, click Load. The command output is displayed. Wait for the completion of command execution. Switch to the Command Tree tab and configure the recording prefix (for example, 700). config add prefix dn 770 callcategory vu callattribute vuvoicerecord cldpredeal no dn: indicates the recording prefix, used for connecting to the unified gateway when recording announcements. Customize this prefix and ensure that this prefix is different from user numbers and any other prefixes. 5 6 Configure the recording authentication account. config add voicemanager account 770 password try locklen Use a phone to dial the recording prefix and enter the authentication user name and password as prompted. After the authentication is successful, use the phone to record announcements on a specific channel. account: indicates the user name, which is a string of 6 0 digits. password: indicates the password, which is a string of 6 0 digits. try: indicates the maximum number of consecutive password attempts. locklen: indicates the account lock duration (unit: minute) when the number of consecutive password attempts reaches the maximum. To ensure voice quality, record announcements in a quiet environment. The available channel IDs vary depending on the unified gateway model. The recommended channel is channel 5. 7b Configuring the Switchboard Access Code In the LMT window of the unified gateway, click the Command Tree tab Configure the switchboard access code. config add prefix dn 568 callcategory vu callattribute vuselfdefine cldpredeal no vug dn: indicates the switchboard access code. Set this parameter according to section g "Special Service Plan." vug: indicates the switchboard number. Ensure that this value is the same as that configured in section 7c "Editing and Loading the Switchboard Script." 5

16 7c Editing and Loading the Switchboard Script In the LMT window of the unified gateway, click the Automatic Switchboard tab. On this tab page, edit the script and click Save Automatic switchboard ID: Set this parameter to the value of vug configured in section 7b "Configuring the Switchboard Access Code." Maximum number length: Set this parameter according to the length of the planned user numbers. Voice menus: Refer to the preceding figure to create menus according to section g "Special Service Plan." 17 8 (Optional) Configuring the Voice Mailbox The unified gateway centrally stores and manages voice messages. Users can retrieve messages using intra-office or external phones from anywhere, at any time. Prerequisites: The voice mailbox license is available. You can check whether the license is available on the System > View License page of the web management system. You have set Number of VMS Channels for the MTU board. For detailed operations, see section b. 8a Loading Command Line Scripts Obtain the command line script files. The command line script files are Voice Mail Record Command Line.txt and Voice Mail Access Command Line.txt, and are saved in the..\script\english\voice Mail Service Script directory of the corresponding version software. In the LMT window of the unified gateway, click the Script Load tab. On the Script Load tab page, click Browse and select one command line script file. Then, click Load. The command output is displayed. Wait for the completion of command execution. Right-click Device Tree and choose Add Device from the shortcut menu. Enter the name and IP address of the unified gateway, and click OK. Right-click the newly added unified gateway from the Device Tree and choose Connect from the shortcut menu. The LMT software package IPT_LMT.zip is stored in the 0 Tools\LMT directory of the U900 version software package. The Local Maintenance Terminal window is displayed. When a user enters the service password for retrieving voice messages, the system prompts the user with an input error message. When the configuration engineer is loading the license file of the unified gateway, the system prompts the configuration engineer with a loading failure message. The number of VMS channels is not configured when the MTU board is being added. The user has not changed the service password. The phone's initial service password is 56. The ESN in the license file is different from the actual ESN of the unified gateway.. In the web management system of the unified gateway, choose System > Board Configuration.. Right-click the MTU board and choose Configure from the shortcut menu.. Set Number of VMS Channels according to the number of concurrent messages supported in the purchased license, and click OK. Have the user pick up the phone and dial *89*Old password*new password# to change the service password. The password must be a 6-digit number.. In the web management system of the unified gateway, choose System > View License, and record the value of Equipment SN.. Use a text editor to open the license file and record the value of Esn.. If the two values are different, re-apply for a license according to the value of Equipment SN.
