Softswitches Just like the Internet, the global telephone network consists of multiple individual networks of independent operators, who differ in their signaling and transmission technology.

Historically, phone calls used to be switched over lines between manufacturer-specific exchanges such as by TELES iswitch.

In the meantime, the transition from costly circuit switched telephony to IP has progressed worldwide.

To allow national and global calls for customers, all network operators need to connect their networks with the telephone networks of other operators. Historically, phone calls used to be switched over lines between manufacturer-specific exchanges such as by TELES iswitch. For years, calls are transmitted over lines and the IP-based Internet by TELES Softswitch, which is modular and based on the standards of Next Generation Networks (NGN). In the meantime, the transition from costly circuit switched telephony to IP has progressed worldwide. The flexible TELES Softswitch therefore converts into a fully IP-based Session Border Controller (SBC).
