Optional: If you are NOT using PoE, connect the power adapter to a power outlet (A). Then connect the other end to the power port on the unit (B). A B 4. 6 Log In To log in to the web interface of the snom ONE mini: 1. Point your web browser to the following address: This IP address is an IPv6 link-local IP address and will work as long as your computer is connected to the same LAN as the snom ONE mini. The address depends on the device s MAC address, which is located on the label on the back of the device. The last four digits (which in the example above are indicated by xxxx) are unique for your snom ONE mini device, while all other digits are the same for all snom ONE mini devices because they belong to the same MAC address range ( to FFFF). For example, if your device has a MAC address of DC, point your web browser to the following address (use lowercase when entering the last four digits) The login screen for the snom ONE mini is displayed. Log in with the username admin and no password. Accept the License Agreement To license the product: 1. Switch to the administrator mode by clicking the Admin link on the top right side of the page. 7 2. Click the Settings tab, then click License. 3. Click Accept. Configure a Static IP Address The snom ONE mini is a server in your network, so it is best to configure the device with a static IP address so you ll always know the IP address. While in administrator mode: 1. Click the System/IP Setup tab. 2. Click No on the DHCP setting. 3. Enter the IPv4 configuration, then click Save. 4. Reboot the system to apply this change. Note: You can reboot the system from the web interface from the configuration screen (Schedule Reboot) or by power-cycling the device. Page 7

8 Choose a Password Once the network configuration has been set up, create a password for the system. You can do this from within the administrator mode from the Settings tab. Note: The operating system for the root account uses this same password. Register a Phone snom 3xx and snom 8xx The snom ONE mini has been configured to automatically plug and play all snom phones in the 3xx and 8xx series once the phones have been plugged into the network. Each phone automatically grabs one of the pre-configured extensions on the snom ONE mini (see below). Before the phones are plugged in, however, the extensions should be customized for each user (see next page). Page 8

9 Customize the Name The default names on the extensions should be changed to reflect the names of your users. 1. Click the Accounts tab, then click on the extension. 2. Enter the user s name into the first/last name fields, as shown below. 3. Click Save. Customize Phone Assignment By default, extensions are randomly assigned to phones, and this is appropriate if either all the phones are of the same model (i.e., everyone gets the same type of phone anyway) or it is not important as to who gets which phone, even if different phone models are involved. However, if you have a few phones (e.g., snom 821) that must be assigned to specific extensions, you will need to bind the MAC address of the phone to the extension that should be using that phone. 1. Locate the MAC address of the phone (the MAC address consists of 12 digits, begins with , and is located on the back of the phone). 2. From within the user s extension on the snom ONE mini, navigate to the Registrations page. Page 9

10 3. Enter the MAC address of the phone into the Bind to MAC Address field. 4. Click Save. The phones can be plugged in once you have finished customizing the extensions. m9 DECT Phones The m9 DECT phones can easily be plug and played on the snom ONE mini once you configure the MAC address of the m9 base station to the extensions of the snom ONE mini. 1. Retrieve the MAC address from the m9 base station (the MAC address consists of 12 digits, begins with , and is located on the back of the device). 2. From within the user s extension on the snom ONE mini, navigate to the Registrations page. 3. Enter the MAC address into the Bind to MAC Address field. 4. Click Save. Page 10

11 Once the base station has been plugged in, the PBX auto-configures the extensions to the m9 base station (only the extensions that have been configured with the base station s MAC address). The extensions are assigned to the handsets in the order in which the handsets are plugged in. Third-Party Phones Third-party phones require manual registration. Before beginning the manual registration process, it is recommended that plug and play be turned off on the snom ONE mini. Turning off Plug and Play Before registering third-party phones to the snom ONE mini, turn off plug and play: 1. Navigate to Admin > Settings, and scroll down to SIP Settings. 2. Turn off Listen to sip.mcast.net. 3. Click Save. 4. Reboot the snom ONE mini. To register third-party phones to the snom ONE mini: 1. Enter the IP address of the phone into a web browser. 2. Enter the extension s SIP password and the IP address of the PBX into the Password and Registrar fields in the web user interface of the phone. Note: All snom phones can be configured manually (and plug and play should be turned for these as well). The following example reflects the phone user interface of a snom 320 phone, along with the general settings of the extension on the snom ONE mini. Page 11

12 3. To confirm that the phone has successfully registered to the snom ONE mini, click System Information from the left navigation panel in the phone user interface. Add accounts to the default extensions Search Phrases Creating Extensions Manually Using CSV Files Settings Advanced Configuration To perform more advanced network configurations such as VLAN, DHCP server, mounting various media devices, such as USB sticks, or configuring VPN clients, you must log in at the operating system level. You can do this by using the SSH protocol that various products in the market are using (note that instead of the standard SSH port, some of the devices may be using port number 8722). You will find that the system is running a Debian distribution, for which you can find excellent documentation at debian.org. The IP configuration from the web interface overwrites the configuration files for the operating system, so once you start the process of manually editing the network configuration, the web interface should no longer be used for this task. Additional Languages Additional languages can be installed on the PBX by using the software update feature of the PBX (language prompts are available for download from the Release Corner at wiki.snomone.com). Downloading an additional language will not affect the PBX configuration or the software version. However, we do recommend that you keep an eye on the available system space on the status screen of the PBX, as the built-in flash memory has limited capacity. Differences between the standard snom ONE edition and the snom ONE mini edition include (1) the need for a static IP address on the mini and (2) an additional menu tab (System) which includes the IP setup dialog. The System tab also allows for generalpurpose system management, including the option to back up and restore the configuration, perform a software update from the web interface, request a pre-configured configuration (e.g., from a managed PBX service provider), and schedule a reboot.
