1 Voice Mail PBX Installation and Testing Guide Mitel SX-2000 DNIC Integration Using D/82U voice cards

2 Mitel SX-2000 DNI Circuit Integration for D/82U REQUIREMENTS: MS2006 (LW26) or higher. A DNIC station (programmed as an SS430 set) for each voice mail port. An analog extension (or dedicated CO line) for the system s modem. 66 punch-down block with a female amp connector for every 8 DNIC stations PBX PROGRAMMING: System Forms > DNI Circuit Assignment Program DNI Circuits for each voice mail port as SS430 sets in this form. Multiline Set Forms > Multiline Set Assignments Assign extension numbers to the DNI Circuits in this form. System Forms > Class of Service Options Assignment Create a class of service for the new voic DNI Circuits and enable the following options: Busy Override Security Camp-on Tone Security COV/ONS/E&M Voice Mail Port Message Waiting Multiline Set On Hook Dialing Set No Answer Recall Timer to 17 Group Forms > Hunt Group Assignment Place all the DNIC voic stations in a hunt group. DNIC stations that will perform outdial functions (message waiting, wake-up calls, call and pager notification) should be placed in DO NOT DISTURB. Another method is to have all outdial stations in there own hunt group. This is a necessity if you plan to have more than one station issue message waiting commands. Voic User Class of Service Options Assignment Enable the following COS options for all voice mail users: Call Forwarding (Internal Destination) Message Waiting Audible Tone Notification* - Optional *Enable for users that do not have message lamps System Forms > Feature Access Code Assignment Assign access codes to the following features: Message Waiting - Activate Message Waiting - Deactivate

3 TERMINATIONS: All DNIC voic stations must be connected to 66 style punch-down blocks. These blocks must have a 25 pair female amp connector on the side. For every 8 DNIC voic stations, one 66 block with a female amp connector is required. The chart below shows which pairs the DNIC stations need to be connected to. Voice Mail Port Number Conductor Pair Colors 1 WH/OR 2 WH/BR 3 RD/BL 4 RD/GR 5 RD/SL 6 BK/OR 7 BK/BR 8 YE/BL After you have finished your cross-connects, take the station interface cable and connect the DNIC stations to the voic system, as shown in the picture below:

4 TESTING: Testing DNIC port sync with the D/82U card(s) On the back of each D/82U voice card, there is a green 2 digit LED display, directly above the 36- position mini D cable plug. When the system is on, the first card that has the first 8 DNIC ports connected to it should read 00 if the card can properly read each DNIC station. The second card would read 01, the third 02, and so on. If the D/82U voice card cannot sync up with a DNIC station, the display will show an E, followed by the port number. So, for example, if the 5th port on the first card cannot be detected, the display will keep toggling between 00 and E5. If any board is showing this error, check to make sure your cross-connects are correct. Testing disconnect supervision When a caller is connected to voic and hangs up, dial tone is presented immediately to the DNIC voice mail port. This is the systems indication to disconnect. Test this by placing a call from any station to the voic system. After voic answers, hang up. The system s Monitor portion of the screen will show the message loop current drop detected, and the line will return to the waiting for call state. Call each of the remaining voic extensions, (hanging up after each port answers) and watch to see if the message loop current drop detected is displayed. This test should be perform station to station and trunk to station. For a trunk to station test, call the hotel s main number, and have the attendant transfer you to voic . When voic answers, hang-up and watch for the loop current drop detected message to be displayed. Testing direct call integration (From any station) At the system, right click the first voic port (anywhere in the rectangle that contains the waiting for call statement) and click on Trace Call Integration. A checkmark will appear to it s left. Now place a call from a station to this voic port. The display information will show what station number is calling.

5 Testing call forward integration Call forward one guest extension on a busy and a no answer to the voic hunt-group for this test. Call forwarding may be programmed from the attendant console (provided it s COS allows this function), or from the station itself. If you intend to use the SX-2000 s call re-routing to deliver busy or no answer calls at a station to voic , the test is the same. From a staff extension, call the guest extension, allowing it to forward to voic . The display information will show both the calling and called party. Perform this forwarding test via a trunk as well. Testing message lamps To test message lamps, enter the MESSAGE WAITING ACTIVATE feature access code in the Dial String Prefix field of the Indicator On section. Next, enter the MESSAGE WAITING DEACTIVATE feature access code in the Dial String Prefix field of the Indicator Off section. These fields are found under the MWI tab of the Mitel SX-2000 DNIC D/82 port type. In the example below, *90 is the ACTIVATE code, and *91 is the DEACTIVATE code. Check in System Forms > Feature Access Code Assignment in the Mitel SX-2000 programming to verify that you entered the correct MESSAGE WAITING ACTIVATE/DEACTIVATE codes.

6 After confirming the correct MESSAGE WAITING ACTIVATE/DEACTIVATE codes, test a message lamp by going to System > Tenants > Tenant 1 > Mailboxes. Double click the Set MWI(s) icon. Enter a valid extension number and test turning the message lamp on and off. The following information will be displayed on the Monitor portion of the system s main screen (example below is of turning a message lamp on) Call Forward / Re-route all voic users After all call integration and message lamp functionality has been tested, proceed with call forwarding all guestroom extensions and selected staff extension users to the hunt-group access code that will be for voic , so calls will forward (or re-route) to the voic on a busy or a no answer at the station.
