5 Requirements and prerequisites 2 Requirements and prerequisites There are specific codec and software requirements for deploying the Dolby Conference Phone with Avaya Aura Platform 6.x. The administrator must also gather server IP address information. Avaya Aura Platform requirements Required Avaya server information Manual deployment overview 2.1 Avaya Aura Platform requirements The Avaya Aura Platform has specific version, codec, and firewall configuration requirements. Read the appropriate Avaya Aura Platform documentation for information on specific network requirements. This document provides instructions for an Avaya Aura Platform 6.3 environment. When instructions differ in Avaya Aura Platform 6.1 and 6.2 environments, they are noted. Note: The Avaya Aura Platform (especially the Avaya G350 media gateway) does not support the G.722 audio codec. Therefore, Dolby Conference Phones on the Avaya Aura Platform cannot be configured to use only this audio codec. For more information, see the Dolby Conference Phone administrator's guide. Avaya Aura Session Manager is required to support Dolby Conference Phones. Note: Network Address Translation (NAT) is not supported by the Dolby Conference Phone. Therefore, the Avaya Aura Platform servers should be on the same side of the organization firewall as the Dolby Conference Phones. 2.2 Required Avaya server information To deploy Dolby Conference Phones, you need to know the IP addresses of the primary and secondary Avaya Aura Platform servers. 2.3 Manual deployment overview A knowledgeable Avaya Aura Platform administrator should perform manual deployment and configuration of the Avaya Aura Platform. The steps listed below are provided as a reference point only. For Avaya documentation, go to 1. Synchronize the Avaya Aura Communications Manager and Session Manager. 2. In the Avaya Aura System Manager, create a new SIP phone extension/account: a. Add the SIP user for each Dolby Conference Phone. b. Assign a communications profile to each user. c. Assign a session manager profile to each user. When completed, you can change the phone configuration file that you created to use the Avaya Aura Platform as the IP private branch exchange (PBX) server. 28 June

13 Registering and configuring the Dolby Conference Phone 4 Registering and configuring the Dolby Conference Phone Use the Dolby Conference Phone touch screen and web interface to configure each phone and register each phone to Avaya Aura Platform. Plugging in and setting up the phone automatically Configuring 802.1X Configuring the operation mode Opening the phone web interface Configuring NTP Registering the phone to Avaya Aura Platform 4.1 Plugging in and setting up the phone automatically Each Dolby Conference Phone requires a wired network connection, preferably supporting Power over Ethernet (PoE). Once your phone is plugged in, many settings may be automatically detected. 1. Connect the phone to a PoE Ethernet port on the network using an Ethernet cable. The setup wizard appears on the phone. The screens vary depending on your network setup. 2. If the phone has Internet access and can connect to the Dolby Voice Console and your conferencing service provider's provisioning service: This only happens if you meet the requirements for Plug-and-Play Setup setup. Requirements for Plug-and-Play Setup vary based on your conferencing service provider. For a list of requirements, see the configuration guide for your conferencing service provider. If the phone is recognized by the Dolby Voice Console, the phone connects to your conferencing service provider's provisioning service. No additional action is required to provision the phone. If the phone is not recognized by the Dolby Voice Console, select your conferencing service provider from the list. Follow the on-screen prompts to connect the phone to your conferencing service provider's provisioning service. If this does not happen, proceed to the next step. 3. If the phone discovers a Dolby Conferencing Console or a provisioning server on your network, follow the on-screen prompts to connect the phone to one of these provisioning servers. This only happens if the phone's administrator completed preparations so that the phone can discover the presence of a Dolby Conferencing Console or a provisioning server by means of a Domain Name System (DNS) SRV record. 28 June

14 Registering and configuring the Dolby Conference Phone If this does not happen, proceed to the next step. 4. If you cannot set up the phone with the methods mentioned earlier, you must perform Manual Setup. a) Choose Manual setup from this screen: b) Follow the on-screen prompts to connect the phone to your Dolby Conferencing Console or provisioning server. Results The phone is now connected to either your conferencing service provider's provisioning service, or a Dolby Conferencing Console or a provisioning that is on your network. What to do next If needed, see the Dolby Conference Phone administrator's guide for complete information and instructions for these setup methods: Plug-and-Play Setup Automatic Local Setup Manual Setup 4.2 Configuring 802.1X If your network requires 802.1X authentication, use the touch screen to accept the authentication server certificate and enter credentials. About this task The network setup wizard detects many of the settings for you, including your virtual LAN (VLAN) and IP network settings. In this figure, the Dolby Conference Phone has detected those settings upon initial setup. If you see this screen, you can configure some 802.1X options, described in this section, directly in the wizard. 28 June

15 Registering and configuring the Dolby Conference Phone 1. If a PKI-based authentication method is selected by the authentication server, you are prompted to review the server certificate information. 2. 22 Troubleshooting 5 Troubleshooting s are available to help you troubleshoot problems with registering the phone and making calls. Troubleshooting registration problems Troubleshooting a phone that cannot make any calls Troubleshooting calls that disconnect immediately Troubleshooting a phone that cannot call PSTN numbers 5.1 Troubleshooting registration problems Registration problems can be the result of misconfiguration or entering the wrong credentials in the Avaya Session Manager. Several settings should be verified and corrected if necessary. 1. Ensure that the details of the SM100 security module, extension, and communication profile password are entered accurately to register with Session Manager. 2. Tap this sequence to verify that the configuration process completed successfully: > > Status > Network > Call Server 3. Verify the realm configuration on the phone. Make sure it is set to * unless you are sure about the correct value for your system. 5.2 Troubleshooting a phone that cannot make any calls Several configuration problems may leave a correctly registered phone unable to make calls. 1. Check the SIP routing group configured on the phone. You can check this from the Avaya Aura System Manager web user interface (UI) or use Avaya Site Administration to check the individual station details. Ensure that the phones are using the same routing group. 2. Check that the SIP routing group that the phone is assigned to in the Session Manager (through Avaya Aura System Manager) can route the call to the destination routing group. 28 June

23 Troubleshooting Make sure (possibly though Session Manager logs) that the call is being routed correctly to the destination end point. The Session Manager traces indicate the SIP-specific error response, which can assist in further troubleshooting. 3. If a Session Manager capture indicates that the Session Manager is able to route the call to the Communication Manager but does not get back any response from it, check the Communication Manager traces. 5.3 Troubleshooting calls that disconnect immediately Codec incompatibility may cause calls to ring but disconnect immediately when the call is answered. 1. Confirm that the phone is properly registered. 2. Check the codec configuration on both ends and verify that both end points are configured to use at least one compatible codec. Note: The Avaya Aura Platform does not support the G.722 audio codec. 5.4 Troubleshooting a phone that cannot call PSTN numbers Codec incompatibility may prevent a phone from calling public switched telephone network (PSTN) numbers. About this task The codecs that are selected on the phone may not include any that are compatible with the codec selected on the gateway. 1. Check the codecs configured on the phone. 2. Select the appropriate gateway codec on the phone to make the PSTN calls. 3. Make sure Avaya Aura Platform and the gateway are set up to accept G.711 and Internet low bit-rate codec (ilbc). 28 June
