4 Introduction This document describes how to integrate an Asterisk PBX as a standalone voice mail server. This document shows provisioning and screenshots from an AsteriskNOW (v 11.7) distribution with FreePBX (v 2.11) administrative GUI. We recommend using this version or newer unless you are an experienced Asterisk system administrator. FreePBX Settings Select Advanced Settings from the Settings menu. In the System Setup section, choose deviceanduser from the User & Device Mode dropdown as shown in the figure below: Figure 1 User & Device March 2015 CONFIDENTIAL Page 4 of 12

5 FreePBX Connectivity Select Trunks from the Connectivity menu. Click Add SIP Trunk. Under General Settings, provide a Trunk Name. See figure below: Figure 2 General Settings March 2015 CONFIDENTIAL Page 5 of 12

6 Under Outgoing Settings set the Trunk Name and PEER Details. Then set USER Context and USER Details as shown below. Figure 3 Incoming & Outgoing Settings The example above is a clustered Accelerator, so the host IPs are the 2 SC node IPs and the port is For a single node Accelerator, the host IPs in the PEER and USER Details would be the IP of the single node and the port would be March 2015 CONFIDENTIAL Page 6 of 12

7 FreePBX Applications Users Select Users from the Applications menu and click the Add User link in the top right corner. Under Add User, set the User Extension to match your mobile number. Also, set the User Password. Under Extension Options, set the Outbound CID to match your mobile number. Then add the appropriate Display Name. See figure below: Figure 4 Add User & Extension Options Under Voic section, set Status to Enabled and set a Voic Password, then click Submit button at the bottom of the page. 8 Devices Select Devices from the Applications menu. Select Generic SIP Device and click the Submit button. Set the secret to blank under Device Options. Under Device Info, set Device ID to the mobile number and add a Description. Set Device Type to Fixed and select the mobile number from the Default User dropdown then click the Submit button at the bottom of the page. See figure below: Figure 5 Add SIP Device Modify the Device Options as follows. Set host to the service IP of the clustered Accelerator if configured as a cluster or the IP of the single node Accelerator if configured as a single node. Set type to peer and qualify to no. Then click the Submit button at the bottom of the page. Repeat the Users and Devices instructions for each subscriber. When you have finished adding subscribers, click the red Apply Config button at the top right of the page. March 2015 CONFIDENTIAL Page 8 of 12

9 FreePBX Command Line Actions Edit Voic Extensions The voic deposit and retrieval numbers are provisioned under the Feature Codes selection under the Admin Menu. In the Voic section at the bottom, Dial Voic is the deposit number and My Voic is the retrieval number. In our example, we have 1198 and 1197 respectively. See the figure below: Figure 6 Voic Deposit and Retrieval Numbers Log in to the Asterisk server as root via SSH. Add the following lines for deposit and retrieval numbers to /etc/asterisk/extensions-custom.conf: March 2015 CONFIDENTIAL Page 9 of 12
