3 Chapter 1 Introduction 1.1 Description FE1/10&100Base-T Bridge is designed based on an ASIC chip, the chip adopts special patent technology of reduced dithering, digital phase locked and distill clock, E1 anti-jamming, etc. The inner software and hardware are all modularity, integrating coding, decoding, message insertion and alarm, and make the circuit simple so as to improve the reliability of the device. 8 2.2.3 Ethernet Interface There are two RJ45 interfaces in the rear panel. One is marked by, it is parallel interface. It can connect to the network card s LAN interface by parallel UTP or to HUB or SWITCH by intercross UTP. The other is marked by, it is intercross interface. The way of connection is contrary to the interface. RJ45 s pin rank as Figure 6, pin s definition of the standard RJ45 is illustrated in the Table. Pin assignment of Ethernet interface NOTE: Don t use the both Ethernet interfaces together Time Slots Settings Time slot settings switch for FE1/10&100Base-T Bridge is located at the bottom of the device. On the bottom board of FE1/10&100Base-T Bridge, there is a quadrate slot. Under the slot, there are four 8-bit Dips (totally 32 bits) for setting E1 time slots. 10 NOTE: Settings of SW Summary 1) E1 framing status depends on NO.0 bit, is framed, is unframed. 2) E1 PCM30 or PCM31 depends on NO.16 bit, is PCM30, TS16 is used for transmitting singling; is PCM31, TS16 is used for transmitting 64K data, if more than 64K, keep NO.16 bit and open other bits. 3) All is unframed, the rate is 2048KBps. 4) Default settings is all. (Both ends are the same type device) NOTE: 1) Guarantee that there is only one INTERNAL clock device in one chain. 2) Avoid that all device in one chain don t set as LINE clock. If it is specific that INTERNAL clock existed in chain, set the device LINE clock. If not, set the device as INTERNAL clock

14 Chapter 3 Installation 3.1 Appearance Checking 1) After you received the devices, firstly you should check whether the packing is well, otherwise, please contact with our company or the local agent in time so as to solve the problem. 2) After opening the box, you should check whether the device and the fittings are correct and well according to the incasement list, otherwise please contact with our company or the local agent. 3.2 Installation Process 1) Firstly place the device at a steady position, the working environment should be dry, tidy, ventilative, and temperature between 0~50. 2) Check whether the clock and time slots control switch are right before connecting the power supply. The device is set internal clock when leave factory, if it is point-to-point application, please set the local internal clock, the remote line clock which will follow the local device time slots setting automatically. 3) Check the power supply of E1/10&100Base-T Bridge, if it is model DC, please pay attention to the voltage value and polarity, and then connect the power supply referring to this manual. 4) Please test the device before using: open the power switch, indicator (PWR) is bright, which show the power supply is normal; when nothing connected, PWR(Green) E1LOS(Red) are all bright, the other indicators are all off. 5) Shut down the power, connect the E1 cables and Ethernet cable, set the clock and time slots control switch correctly referring to this manual, then open the power switch, the device will work normally. 3.3 Installation Notice Proceeding 1) During the process of transportation and installation, the device should be protected against vibration and mechanical damages. 2) Please examine the voltage value and whether the polarity accord with the mark on the rear panel before electrifying, or else the device may be caused permanent damages. 3) The device has already adjusted to the optimal status before leaving factory, please don t take apart the device privately if non technicians of our company

15 4) When the device fault, you can make sure the failure range through self-loop function with the device and contract with technique service center of our company in time

16 Chapter 4 Troubleshooting Normal working status: when E1/10&100Base-T Bridge works at 100M FULL duplex, PWR (Green) LINK (Green) FDX (Yellow) indicators are bright, 10/100M (Yellow) TX (Yellow) RX (Yellow) indicators are blinking, the others are off. When the device fails, firstly make sure the failure range according to the status of the indicators, then deal with the problem. Trouble phenomenon: no reaction after electrifying Diagnosis: Examine the power supply, if it is model DC, make sure the polarity, if the wire is connected inversely, please correct it! If it is model AC, please make sure whether the power control switch turn on. Exclusion: Correct the power connection or turn on the power. Trouble phenomenon: E1LOS indicator is bright Diagnosis: The device is set Internal clock, loopback the input and output ports by E1 cable, if this indicator is off, then mainly examine the E1 cable. Exclusion: Examine whether the receiving and transmitting E1 cables are inverse, if so please correct them; whether the E1 connectors are loosed, if so please make them again. Trouble phenomenon: E1LOS indicator is off, but E1LOF indicator is bright Diagnosis: This trouble is about due to three reasons hereinafter: 1) The core doesn t connect with skin of E1 input cable, or core and skin are intercrossed, or only connect one thread of 120Ω cable. 2) The two sides are both set Internal clock, moreover the time slots are different. Exclusion: 1) Make the E1 cables again. 2) Make sure there is only one Internal clock in the whole lines, the others are all line clock

17 Trouble phenomenon: code error during communication Diagnosis: Make sure whether all devices are set line clock or more than two are Internal clock. Exclusion: Two Internal clock will occur error code, two line clock may cause communication interruption; adjust the clock to make sure only one device provide clock in one chain. Trouble phenomenon: LINK indicator is off Diagnosis: Make sure whether the connection of the Ethernet line is right and firm, and the power control switch of the opposite device is open. Exclusion: Correct the connection; there are interface and interface in the rear panel, so connect with different interfaces in terms of different connected device or Ethernet line. If you don t know the type of the Ethernet line, you can experiment by connecting it with the two ports, LINK(Green) indicator is bright, which show the connection is right; or make the Ethernet line again. Trouble phenomenon: indicators of local device TX(Yellow) is blinking, RX(Yellow) is off; those of remote device TX(Yellow) is off, RX(Yellow) is blinking Diagnosis: TX indicator of local device is bright, which show that the local device transmitted data to E1 line, RX indicator of remote device is bright, which show that the remote device can receive data from E1 line, and the transmitting port of local device connect with the receiving port of remote device normally. Exclusion: Examine whether the connection of the other E1 line or the E1 receiving cable of local device is normal
