3 Configuring the Mediatrix Unit Getting Started 1) Make sure the WAN network interface (either WAN, ETH1, Ethernet, Network, or ETH5 depending on your model) of your Mediatrix unit is connected to the network. 2) Make sure the second Ethernet connector (either LAN, ETH2, or Computer depending on your model) of your Mediatrix unit is connected to the computer. 3) Log on to the Mediatrix unit Web interface. Note: If you are using your Mediatrix unit for the first time, refer to its Mediatrix unit Quick Start guide. Logging on to the Mediatrix Unit Web Interface For better performances, it is recommended to use the latest available version of Microsoft Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, or Mozilla Firefox. Note: You may not be able to log on to the Mediatrix unit Web interface if you are using older browser versions. The computer's network card must be on the same subnet as the Mediatrix unit. 1) In your Web browser, enter the IP address used by your Mediatrix unit to communicate with the Web interface. If your computer is connected to the Ethernet port, commonly used to be connected to the Local Area Network (LAN), i.e. ETH2 on most devices, use the IP address. If your Mediatrix unit is configured to use a DHCP server with IPv4, use the provided DHCP server IP address. 2) Enter public as your username and leave the password field empty. Note: The public username account has administrator rights. Note: You can also use admin as a username and administrator as password.
4 3) Click Login. The page of the Web interface is displayed. Configuring the Default Servers (p. 4) Configuring the Default Servers Before you start In some instances, the configuration of the default servers may already be completed. Go to SIP/Servers. In the Registrar Host field, indicate the server IP address or FQDN to use for this gateway. In the Proxy Host field, indicate the server IP address or FQDN to use for this gateway. In the Messaging Server Host field, indicate the server IP address or FQDN to use for this gateway, if needed. 5) Leave the Outbound Proxy Host field empty, unless specifically instructed to set a value. 1) 2) 3) 4) Note: Setting the address to :0 or leaving the field empty disables the outbound proxy host. 6) Click Apply. 7) Located at the top of the page, click restart required services.
5 Registering Endpoints to All Gateways (p. 5) Registering Endpoints to All Gateways 1) 2) 3) 4) 5) Go to SIP/Registrations. For each endpoint requiring registration, repeat the following 2 steps. From the Register selection list, select Enable. From the Gateway Name selection list, select All for each endpoint. Click Apply and Refresh.
6 Creating a Hunt (p. 6) Creating a Hunt Go to Call Router/Route Config. In the Hunt table, click. In the Name field, type FXO_Hunt. From the drop box next to the Destinations field, select fxo-fxo1, fxo-fxo2, fxo-fxo3, fxo-fxo4. 5) From the drop box next to the Causes field, select the causes pertinent to your situation. 6) Click Save. 1) 2) 3) 4)
7 Creating a New Route (p. 7) Creating a New Route Before you start The task Creating a Hunt (p. 6) must be completed. 1) 2) 3) 4) 5) 6) 7) 8) 9) Go to Call Router/Route Config. In the Routes table, click. From the dropbox next to the Sources field, select sip-default. From the dropbox next to the Destination field, select hunt-fxo_hunt. Click Save. In the Routes table, click. From the dropbox next to the Sources, select all the used FXO port. In the Destination field, set sip-default. Click Save to apply the new configuration.
8 Configuring Automatic Call Activation on All FXO Ports (p. 8) Configuring Automatic Call Activation on All FXO Ports 1) 2) 3) 4) Go to Telephony/Services. Set the Select Endpoint selection list to Default. Set the Automatic Call Activation to Enable. Set the Automatic Call Target to the SIP server IVR or desired extension number.
9 Configuring the Country for all Endpoints (p. 10) Configuring Automatic Call Activation on a Specific FXO Port Go to Telephony/Services. From the Select Endpoint selection list, select the FXO endpoint to configure. In the Automatic Call section, set the Endpoint Specific selection list to Yes. Set the Automatic Call Activation selection list to Enable. Set the Automatic Call Target selection list to the SIP server IVR or desired extension number. 6) Repeat the steps 2 to 5 for each FXO endpoint to configure. 7) Click Apply. 1) 2) 3) 4) 5) Calls form the selected endpoints lines will be sent to the configured destination number in the SIP server.
10 Configuring the Country for all Endpoints 1) Go to Telephony/Misc. 2) Make sure the Select Endpoint drop-down list is set to Default. Note: Use these settings with great care. Media5 recommends not to modify the user gain parameter unless absolutely necessary because default calibrations may no longer be valid. Modifying user gains may cause problems with DTMF detection and voice quality using a high user gain may cause sound saturation (the sound is distorted). Furthermore, some fax or modem tones may no longer be recognised. The user gains directly affect the fax communication quality and may even prevent a fax to be sent. 3) In the Country table, select your country from the drop-down list. 4) Click Apply. Configuring the Dial Tone Detection (p. 10) Configuring the Dial Tone Detection It allows the Mediatrix unit to wait for a dial tone before initiating the dialing sequence. If no dial tone is detected, the line is considered busy. If you are not familiar with the meaning of the fields and buttons, click Show Help, located at the upper right corner of the Web page. When activated,
11 the fields and buttons that offer online help will change to green and if you hover over them, the description will be displayed. 1) Go to POTS/FXO Configuration. 2) In the FXO Dialing Configuration table, from the Dial Tone Detection Mode drop box, select CountryTone. Note: Not all PBX manufacturers produce the country dial tone on the extension line. If this is the case, make sure the Dial Tone Detection Mode is disabled, otherwise the Mediatrix unit will not output dialed digits. Note: Not all PSTN switches produce the country dial tone on the PSTN line. If this is the case, make sure the Dial Tone Detection Mode is disabled, otherwise the Mediatrix unit will not output dialed digits. 3) Click Apply. Configuring the Answering Delay (p. 11) Configuring the Answering Delay 1) Go to POTS/FXO Configuration. 2) In the FXO Answering Configuration table, complete the fields as required.
12 Note: If the PBX does not pass the caller ID to the Mediatrix unit, you can reduce the Wait Before Answering Delay to 2500 to reduce the time before the Mediatrix unit goes off-hook upon ring detection. 3) Click Apply. Configuring the Far End Disconnect Parameters (p. 12) Configuring the Far End Disconnect Parameters 1) Go to POTS/FXO Configuration. 2) In the FXO Force End of Call table, from the Force End Of Call On Tone Detection Mode drop box, select Custom Tone. 3) Set the Tone Detection Custom Frequency field to 350. Note: Verify with your PBX supplier what tone (exact frequency and cadence) the PBX produces on the extension when the far end is disconnected. 4) Complete the other fields as required. 5) Click Apply.
13 Restarting Services (p. 13) Restarting Services 1) Go to System/Services. 2) In the restart required services table, click restart required services.
14 Mediatrix Sentinel IP Address When the physical connection of the Mediatrix Sentinel is completed, you need to find out the IP address the unit is using to be able to access the management interface. Depending on where the Mediatrix Sentinel is located, either in the LAN or on the Edge, You can use one of the following methods: Use the Dynamic WAN IPv4 address by reserving a unique IP address directly in the DHCP server, using the MAC address of the unit, which is the default method used by the unit. This method is strongly recommended by Media 5. Use the Static WAN IPv4 address, i.e Use the private LAN interface at the IP address. Use the IPv6 Link Local Address. By default, the IPv6 Interface is disabled.
