2 What are IoT & M2M The Internet of Things (IoT), also called Internet of Everything, is the network of physical objects or "things" embedded with electronics, software, sensors, and connectivity to enable objects to exchange data with each other and the infrastructure. M2M(Machine to Machine) M2M communication is an important aspect of warehouse management, remote control, robotics, traffic control, logistic services, supply chain management, fleet management and telemedicine. It forms the basis for IoT. IoT is expected to offer advanced connectivity of devices, systems, and services that goes beyond machine-to-machine communications (M2M) and covers a variety of protocols, domains, and applications.

7 Platforms Google Brillo is all about the smart home. Announced at Google's I/O 2015, Brillo is a lightweight, rather basic backbone for the IoT that will both integrate with Android devices and support Wi-Fi and Bluetooth Low Energy.

10 JSON, REST, MQTT Protocols REST is a scalable architecture which allows for things to communicate over Hypertext Transfer Protocol and is easily adopted for IoT applications to provide communication from a thing to a central web server. MQTT is a publish-subscribe architecture on top of TCP/IP which allows for bidirectional communication between a thing and a MQTT broker.

11 Protocols In addition, the XMPP standards foundation XSF is creating a framework in a fully open standard that is free of any company ties and unconnected to any cloud services. The idea is to show how XMPP can empower the collaboration between humans and smart objects. This initiative is called Chatty Things.

It is a PaaS(Platform as a Service) IBM Bluemix is the IBM open cloud platform that provides mobile and web developers access to IBM software for integration, security, transaction, and other key functions, as well as software from business partners. Built on Cloud Foundry open source technology

It is a publish/subscribe, extremely simple and lightweight messaging protocol, designed for constrained devices and low-bandwidth, high-latency or unreliable networks.
