9 Deployment Example - Residential Each Access VC is presented at the NNI as a unique S,C tag pair. Each UNI has an associated Access VC The UNI is configured as an untagged interface NTU POI RSP BNG Broadband Router Ethernet POTS UNI-D UNI-V Access VC Access VC Connectivity VC N N I S=10 Data Voice S=10, C=40 S=10, C=45

11 Multicast STB RG NTU Specific channels the end user is watching Access Node/OLT PoI RSP e.g.8mbps One copy of each channel saves backhaul Potentially tens of thousands of end users One copy of each channel saves backhaul e.g. 100Mbps e.g. 100Mbps Total Channel Line-up End User Network Access VC Multicast Domain RSP Backhaul Further replication can take place within the premises. Multicast VC per end per RSP user will carry active channels only. NBN Co will distribute all channels to all Access Nodes per RSP Replication Point 11
12 Service Qualification The SQ tool will cater for all stages of the sales and ordering process Premises Stage 1 FSA Rollout Stage 2 Individual Premises A high level indicative rollout plan will enable RSPs to prepare marketing campaigns and establish common infrastructure such as PoI backhaul and NNI. An RSP can query the eligibility of a premises to receive service. Typically the process will reveal whether the premises is physically passed. The RSP can then commence a 1-on-1 sales campaign with end user. Product Stage 3 Product Qualification Stage 4 - Upgrades Product level checks for spare UNI, sufficient PON bandwidth, presence of NNI etc will be performed. Throughout the life of the service, the RSP can perform full service qualifications to validate up-sell opportunities and manage customer expectations.
13 Summing Up Consultative product development Abstraction of the Wholesale product from network technology Component based product construct A focus on OSS/BSS
