2 Optical Ethernet An introduction LAN boundary extended to encompass the wide area networks (WAN) and metropolitan area networks (MAN). Ethernet over Fiber, Ethernet over WDM, Ethernet over PDH/SONET/SDH, Ethernet over digital wrapper and Ethernet over RPR, etc. are some of the enabling technologies.
