1 Network + Networking NH5200 Fundamentals COURSE TITLE: Network+ Networking Fundamentals 104 Total Hours 66 Theory Hours 38 Laboratory Hours COURSE OVERVIEW: After completing this course, students will be able to perform tasks such as: Identify basic network theory concepts and major network communications methods. Describe bounded network media. Identify unbounded network media. Identify the major types of network implementations. Identify TCP/IP addressing and data delivery methods. Implement routing technologies. Identify the major services deployed on TCP/IP networks. Identify the infrastructure of a WAN implementation. Identify the components used in cloud computing and virtualization. Describe basic concepts related to network security. Prevent security breaches. Respond to security incidents. Identify the components of a remote network implementation. Identify the tools, methods, and techniques used in managing a network. Describe troubleshooting of issues on a network. Content shall not change, and if so, students shall be given prior notice. However, the course breakout in sessions per week may vary, but all contact hours shall be met within the term, and within the class schedule parameters. GRADING REQUIREMENTS: Final Grades will be determined as follows: GRADE BREAKDOWN Assessments 50% Class Participation 25% Lab Participation 25% GRADE SCALE A B C D Below 65 - E ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENTS: It is important for the school to be notified when a student is not able to attend class. It is the student s responsibility to inquire about make-up work for both theory s and laboratory sessions. Tardiness and/or absences from any part of a class/lab will constitute a partial absence. A total of 3 partial absences will constitute a full absence. For further information on the attendance policy, consult the current edition of the applicable student handbook. MAKE-UP WORK: It is the student s responsibility to inquire about make-up work for both theory and laboratory sessions. 5 INSTRUCTOR RESPONSIBILITIES: 1.) The instructor will evaluate each student s participation, assignments, assessments, and projects based on the grading criteria published on this syllabus. 2.) Accurate records of each student s grades will be maintained and retained at the campus. Grades will be reported at the conclusion of each course. 3.) Unannounced quizzes and special projects may be given at the instructor s discretion.
