Celerra Web Manager is a Web-based graphical user interface that enables an administrator to manage the most common daily administrative tasks, including network and hardware configuration and management of Data Movers, file systems, and shares. For enterprise monitoring of Celerra CNS, Web Manager is launchable from the EMC ControlCenter management software suite. 2. An optional Windows 2000 application, Celerra Native Manager, simplifies the tasks of configuration, reconfiguration, ongoing operation, and observation with features like Targeted Views, simple navigation, rules-based automation, and configuration checkpointing and comparisons. 3. The Celerra CNS provides a cluster of dedicated file servers (i.e., Data Movers) under a single point of control (i.e., the Control Station). Data Movers, a cluster of autonomous server elements, provide the front-end to the CLARiiON system and highly efficient channels between CLARiiON and the network. Using network technologies, heterogeneous clients concurrently access CLARiiON-based files via multiple file access and network protocols without going through a general-purpose server. Data Access in Real Time operating system (DART), optimized for high-performance network file access, offers multi-protocol support. This realtime, embedded operating system runs on the Data Movers to increase performance, simplify management, and scale linearly to accommodate large user communities. Control Stations provide system management, administration, configuration, service failover, and maintenance capabilities. CLARiiON Storage Systems offer best-in-class performance and high-availability mirrored cache disk storage for UNIX, Linux, Windows 2000, and Windows NT environments. Unequaled availability features With the EMC Celerra CNS, availability means non-stop file access. You get transparent dynamic failover to a hot standby Data Mover. Similarly, Control Station failover ensures continuous service even if a Control Station fails. Availability via replication Celerra CNS offers SnapSure for creating read-only copies of file systems. The snap copy enables backups and quick recovery of deleted files, and since the snap is not a mirror operation, you also save disk space and time. It even eases the burden on the system administrator by enabling users to recover their own files and directories from an older file system snapshot. Celerra Native Manager is an inuitive GUI-based application for managing and monitoring Celerra funtions.

4 For increased information protection, EMC Celerra Replicator creates an asynchronous point-in-time copy of a production file system on either a local or geographically remote Celerra system. Celerra Replicator utilizes standard IP-based networks for maintaining consistent replicas between two sites. Unlikely but... If a Data Mover fails, Celerra uses a metadata logging facility to recover within seconds or minutes. Other high-end file servers can take hours to reboot and recover large-capacity file systems. If the Control Station must reboot, the Control Station Guard prevents disruption of Data Mover functions. Network capabilities For network connections, Celerra CNS supports Gigabit Ethernet and 10/100BaseT. VLAN support allows network administrators more flexibility in creating logical work groups which, in turn, benefits overall network efficiency by localizing broadcast traffic at the work group level. Celerra supports NFSv2, v3, CIFS, and options for standards-based local and network backup.
