The ubiquitous technology has brought many advantages in the development in the area of agriculture. The development of u-farm mobile assistant system has been very interesting research topic in recent time. The interconnection with heterogeneous objects, sensing of various phenomena and gathering of large amounts of data are becoming part of our daily routine. In the field of agriculture, specifically on farming, the advancement in technology also brought many improvement in the facilities used in farm. This paper develops a u-farm mobile application architecture which will help the farmers in monitoring their crops, generate report and statistics which can help the farmers improve their harvest. The mobile application architecture will maximize the use of the smart phone from software to hardware. Keywords: u-farm, smart grid, USN, CBD 1 Introduction The sensing technology has been drastically adopted in any area of application. It has been the major component of embedded system, particularly in cyber-physical system. Nowadays, the application of sensor devices has been widely used. It is seen to revolutionize many of the farm mobile application; also the wireless technology has brought many advantages in the development of u-farm system. Mobile u-farm applications include applications related to agricultural application area. These mobile applications may be applied to all aspects of our lives. For the satisfactory information transmission of the mobile u-farm, seamless data transfer must be supported. U-farm is a network consisting of interconnected devices using sensors to timely monitor the environmental conditions in the farm. These conditions can be temperature, pressure, vibration, motion or pollution remote in different location. In this paper we designed a u-farm mobile application framework which helps the farmer managing their resources, monitor their farm environment with the help of the sensing devices and generate reports and statistics. This paper also includes the development of mobile gateway which makes it possible for integration for sensor devices. We have presented here the mobile gateway architecture in which the main purpose is to receive the sensing data and make a local analysis and generate ISSN: ASTL Copyright 2017 SERSC

2 keywords and then will be sent to remote server for analysis. This mobile gateway used Bluetooth technology to send and receive data from the sensor devices [1][2]. 2 Background of the Study Ubiquity means the environment that users can receive the environmental context regardless of the location and time. As a consequence of the developments of science and technology and sensing technology is evolving from the previous manual farming facilities to more improve ubiquitous farm [4]. (u-farm) application. As the quality of the life has been improved, we are more focusing on the speeding of farm facilities and monitoring in means of ubiquitous application. Along with the circumstance, the interest of the remote-monitoring of crops condition has been increasing. The u-farm systems are developing that can monitor the farm status in a distance in a real time. This system is the service which can help to monitor the conditions in the farm like for example the water system, the temperature, the fertilizers and other necessary things in the farm through the portable-equipment based on wireless communication network. Nowadays, the field of farming becomes more grew and sophisticated in the used of farming tools. The purpose of these u-farm technologies is to provide convenient farming service to the farmers even though they are far away or in travel. They can monitor their farm without actually visiting on the site. U-farm system can provide efficient monitoring services through computerized sensing tools and devices. With the development of new sensing, networking and processing technologies makes farm monitoring easy and accessible anytime, anywhere. The u-farm application enables a person to receive services beyond the time and distance that is the motivation in making ubiquitous farm. Ubiquitous farm using body sensor network technologies in daily live context is believed to be the next generation of farm technologies [3]. 3 U-farm Deployment Challenges There have been much technological advancement in many field of study but in the area of agriculture is a little bit slow. This is because we don t put much interest in agriculture as it is not so much profitable compared to having a business that earn in daily basis. Hence, we should not neglect that reality that foods are fundamental needs in our life. The challenge in developing the u-farm mobile application is the costing of the needed materials, like sensors devices and the other needed materials. The USN functions as a centralized network ensuring all the key activities including processing and storage. When deployed in a physical environment, the performance of a USN will inevitably deteriorate overtime. The issue of incompatible protocols is a big barrier to enabling remote access in conventional mobile phones. In u-farm application, it is very important to design a reliable ubiquitous system since it is expose to outside environment. The current studies try to develop a mobile sensor application to assist the farmers in monitoring their plant condition and the environmental factors. 246 Copyright 2017 SERSC

3 Farms consist of various elements which are constantly changing state; for example opening and closing gates, water trough levels, feed levels etc. Monitoring the status of these elements automatically reduces the workload of a typical farmer, as well as providing benefits such as real-time monitoring, alerts and statistical analysis. To provide real-time monitoring, alerts and statistical analysis there is a need to develop a ubiquitous farm application using mobile devices which can be a big help. To address this problem, a sensor mobile gateway should be proposed that when placed in a USN field; enable communication between mobile phones and USN nodes. 4 Proposed Mobile Framework This section discusses about the proposed mobile a framework. The conceptual model and the system components are presented. 4.2 System Components The components of the system were developed based on CBD concept of software development. In the figure below, there are three (3) players that can use the system. Each of this user have the designated function and can access the system according to the level of access grant they are allowed. The farm owner have the full access of the system, he can manage the resources, generate and print the inventory reports. The tenant can access the control for sensors and the monitoring of the alarm systems. The agriculturist has the access to generate the analysis and reports to do his job as agriculture analyst. The Figure 2 below is the use case of the system which depicts the system components. Fig. 1. Use case diagram Copyright 2017 SERSC 247

4 The first layer is the sensing layer which consists of sensor mobile gateway and hardware communication. The second layer is the computation layer which consists of operating system and mobile gateway adaptation layer. The third layer is the sending layer which is the user interface layer. Fig. 2. u-farm mobile gateway for sensors It provides the sensed information to a farm field to remote station. It analyzes the details of the environmental factors information through sensors and received by mobile gateway and send to the remote server for analysis. It can provide selective environmental knowledge using the farm expert system. 6 Conclusion This study proposed a design of u-farm mobile application framework. We have presented the conceptual model and the system components that comprise the mobile application. This paper also presents the mobile gateway interface to support the mobile devices to be a device to receive sensing information from the sensor devices. It perform environmental (temperature, water level, humidity, plant growth and etc.) sensing capability. This study aims to make mobile device gateway an integrated gateway which supports heterogeneous devices. In the propose u-farm system, the received sensing information will be analyze using smartphone devices which will generate keywords. The keywords will then be sent to the knowledge expert system for analysis. This provides the benefits such as real-time monitoring, alerts and statistical analysis of crop conditions and environmental factors. Acknowledgements.
