5 1. Replacement Procedures Base Chassis (continued) 1.1 Procedure to perform a Base Chassis Replacement: See Section 4 of this document prior to this procedure. Step 1 With the replacement chassis next to the defective chassis, the following parts will need to be transferred to the replacement chassis: 8 Memory Modules (DIMMs) Hard Drives. 2 SATA hard drives and 8 SAS hard drives Intel RAID Controller connected to JBOD NOTE: Because the hard drive bays are numbered both physically and logically, It is very important that the hard drives be installed into the exact same bays as they were installed in the defective chassis. Failure to do this can result in a Degraded or Failed RAID array. This RAID controller needs to go into the identical PCI-E slot within the Riser Cage of the replacement chassis. The RAID cable will need to removed and installed in the same position as well. Depending upon the type of configuration of the SIEM 9750 onsite, the following other parts will need to be moved to the replacement chassis if they exist in the failed chassis: o o QLogic QLE2562 8Gb Fibre Channel to PCI Express Adapter Dual Port QLogic QLE2564 8Gb Fibre Channel to PCI Express Adapter Quad Port Step 2 Once the previous list of parts have been installed into the replacement server chassis, power cables can be re-installed to the machine and the Server lid/screw can be reinstalled. The replacement server can be optionally installed into the same location where the defective machine was located. Step 3 If a monitor is present, then connect it to the video port on the server. Power on the server. Step 4 Closely watch the monitor for a successful POST of the server. Check for any errors displayed or audible beeps from the system. Step 5 Verify that the system boots normally with no alarms: The triangle symbol (system status LED) on the local control panel will display this. Step 6 If the system status LED illuminates Amber during boot, check for any error messages at boot up on the monitor. If no error messages are displayed, then it will be necessary to extract an Intel System Event Log to determine what is at fault. Page 5 of 26

6 2. Replacement Procedures Hard Disk Drives (HDDs) Using BIOS Level RAID Utility 2.1 RAID 1 Replacing Internal SATA hard drives installed in the Flex Bay NOTE: These 2 hard drives utilize the onboard SATA port and the onboard RAID controller for a software RAID. Determine which HDD has failed BIOS Level Raid Utility - When the 9750 is booting up, the server displays the Status of the RAID 1 array and which member drive has failed. If a drive has failed then the Status of the RAID will normally show as :Degraded. 2 Hard Drives and Status shown by Page 6 of 26

7 2. Replacement Procedures Hard Disk Drives (HDDs) Using BIOS Level RAID Utility (continued) Step 1 These hard drives are not Hot Swappable.
